Was just looking at the lenovo store and all models with 4gb ram show ship date within 7 business days, including the i7 model, while the 8gb models show ship date as 4 weeks.
This is looking at EPP store, not sure how accurate that would be. This is the first time I've seen it suggested that the RAM is at fault for any delays. I'm hoping it's wrong.
i5 3427u / 8gb / 256gb
Estimated ship 9/18
Order date 8/16

I wouldn't bet on those ship dates, but it seems like the i7 is a delaying factor for new orders. I remember they previously completely pulled the i7 from the order page for a while, in fact.. -

My price for the i5/8GB/256GB MBA with AppleCare is $1722 before tax and shipping but that doesn't include accidental.
A squaretrade.com 3 year with accidental runs $349 which would put the Mac at $1852.
Clearly the X1C can be had for a reasonable price but like NASDAQ stocks, the price changes daily. It pays to shop smart. -

Whoa... I just checked my order status again, and it's changed to:
Order Status: In Production (no change)
Estimated Ship Date: 2012/ 10/23
Estimated Delivery Date: 2012/ 10/30
October!!!

That's what you get for formatting the dates incorrectly.

Hopefully Monday this will all be fixed. -

Lenovo is now confusing me to no end.
for an i5/8gb RAM/256gb SSD, may i know what the realistic shipping date is now?
i can't figure it out. on the ordering page, it still shows 9/7th or so shipping out date, plus 3-5 days for it to come to me here in nyc (so the footnote says).
is that at all realistic? so many folks seem to say that those dates are all hogwash!
ugh. i don't know if i ought to order now or not, since no one seems to have received ANY units yet (besides reviewers' units). -
Thors.Hammer Notebook Enthusiast
I hope you guys are planning on cancelling your orders next week if you don't get some concise answers from Lenovo. Waiting until October is nuts. You might as well wait for the big reveal with Windows 8 on October 26.
-
I dont think anyone on here know what the actual ship date is. If you read through the thread you will prob have a good idea of whats going on. You can decide from there. -
Hey everyone, long time lurker here and I thought I'd contribute
I ordered the i5/8GB/256GB on the 18th, went through 2 past estimated dates and the "order received" nonsense, with the current shipping date at 9/18 to get to Canada at 9/25. I used the RFD code and with the 4 year onsite + accidental protection (a little excessive I know), came out to $1850ish before tax. Managed to get a $100 concession last week through their online chat
I tried calling to check my order today, except it said it was closed, but I managed to reach someone in the sales department. First honest sounding rep I've had these few weeks, with tons of apologies. He said that by Wednesday Lenovo should be sending us all an email to explain the situation. When I asked about all the variation in concessions people have been getting (in an attempt to get a higher amount), he said that I was one of the lucky ones, since it's policy not to give concessions based on estimated ship dates. He made it sound like the reps were being told not to give them anymore. So my advice is to call them up now if you haven't gotten a concession yet while you still can.
Frustrating since I'm using this for school, but I'm hoping that all this wait is worth it -
thanks man.
I got my concession of 5% discount with no problem after i called them to complain the ship delay. I'm quite satisfied with that because i'm not in a rush for the unit. hopefully you can get yours asap for your upcoming school year

By the time to the X1C ships the T430u, with it's up to 16GB of user replaceable ram, HD+ screen (maybe same one as the X1C's) and other perks -- all for around half the price of the X1C -- should be available.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thi...-l/683284-x1-carbon-vs-t430u.html#post8785537 -
There's no reason to wait for the T430u. It has nothing going for it over the T430s; it is no lighter.
Presumably if you've ordered the X1 Carbon you've already decided the weight difference is worth the price premium and reduced upgradability. -
So perhaps an issue has arisen as they moved to mass production of what must certainly be a challenging machine to put together. -
i'm VERY interested in finding out who your honest rep is please!
i've had horrible luck trying to find a good, honest rep. the ones i've been dealing with are insincere, unfocused, generally not helpful!
i cannot Private Message you (you have that disabled) so may i kindly request that you Private Message me please? i really would like to contact your rep to get my order all sorted out please!
i'm not looking for a concession, but to sort out my order.
thanks so much in advance. -

Come late Monday night/Tuesday morning the machine will have been available for purchase 21 days. In that period of time it appears one or two people might have received a unit. Everyone else is wondering what the heck is going on.
When the notebook went on sale, the original listing at lenovo.com said "ships in more than four weeks". That is consistent with what happened on the Retina MacBook Pro. In the first 48 hours that machine went from 5 day lead time to 30 days. If Lenovo starts shipping on 9/11 or 9/12 and delivers on 9/14 or 9/15, then they will still be within that 30 day window. If they had just managed the communication effectively then expectations would not be across the board.
I imagine the logistics folks are busting their arsses to get the machines out the door. But Lenovo Marketing and PR are clearly blowing it. -
One of the members over at TPF has reported getting his X1C.

My i5/8gb was cancelled too due to "invalid config". Will be calling them.
This is ridiculous. First shipping gets pushed a month, and then the order is cancelled. If I have to place a new order, I would no longer have the redflagsdeal discount, AND it'll be late for school. Even as a hardcore lenovo fan, I'm considering dropping this machine for another. Any suggestions?
Edit:
Calling tommorrow, as there is no one in office today. The person on online chat is not responding as well. -
Dang. So my estimated shipment date went from 8/21 > 8/25 > 8/30 > 9/2 > ....wait for it....10/23! But like I said before, I'm not holding much to these dates. I ordered it on the first day, 8/14, so it would not be fair to hold it back that much.

if i were you, i would call lenovo sales rep directly and negotiate instead of buying from their site cause you can most probably get a better deal on the phone. I ordered the same config as yours on 8/16 and the estimated ship date is pushed back from 8/26 to 9/25. I dont mind waiting another a few weeks for the bb since i called them to get a 5% discount for the delay which makes the waiting worth it
. I know someone here received a 10% concession. hopefully you can get a better deal than mine

Another update:

2. i5/8GB/128GB/1YRWarranty
3. Texas
4. 8/21 -> 8/25 -> 8/29 -> 8/31 -> 9/04
5. n/a
6. n/a -> 8/30 -> 9/06 -> 9/09 -> 9/11

A few days ago my order changed from "In Production" to "Order Received" but it looks Lenovo has reinstated my status back to "In Production" with the original invoice amount today. They have also finally put an authorization on my card.
Things are looking hopeful but I won't be holding my breath. -
-
-
btw, I also ordered on 8/14, around 12:00pm PDT. My status is still "Order Received", with a $0.00 total.
Estimated shipping: 8/30
Estimated delivery: 9/9 -
-
-
My order (i5, 4gb, 128gb placed back on 8/14) was also changed from In Production to Order Received two days ago and the amount changed to 0,- but today it's back In Production and the amount is back to what it was before.
New ship date is 8/31 (!?) and estimated delivery is 9/9. Things are still odd -- it clearly did not ship yesterday (or at least I never received a shipping confirmation)... -
-
there is nothing accurate about these shipping dates and estimates, even the ones that shows when you initially do the configurations and purchase. The system that gives you these are automatic, and just keeps pushing dates back. After speaking with reps, they guarantee that people that order their units earlier will get it shipped first before the others, as for the supply chain issue or the ethernet dongle, I believe they told me its been sorted out and should be starting to ship out mid week, but then again you have to contact the supply team in China to get the most accurate updates.
PS; i ordered a i5/8gb/128gb at 8/16, my current date is like 9/02 estimated shipping date, and 9/09 estimated arrival date, which is not accurate at all. What is gonna happen with my status, is that later its just gonna get pushed back certain amount of days again. -
Wow ... ordered 8/21 and now it's showing: 10/23 ship 10/30 deliver
What the hell! 8gb/256gb/i5 -
Folks, my status just changed from "order received" back to "in production", with the original invoice price, and my credit card is charged.
I bought on 8/14 around PDT 12:00pm, estimated shipping date is still 8/30, delivery 9/9. -
Created an account so I could chime in. I placed my order on the first day possible and after a cancellation request just two days later the order continues to go through the process. The updated ship date is 9/5. If nothing changes by then I'm done. Nice to know that Lenovo cares about their customers...yeah right.
Edit: I'd also like to add that I've been charged not once, not twice, but THREE times for the same order thus far. -
Over the weekend my status went from "Released to Manufacturing" to "In Production", to a zero-price, back to "Order Received", and just this evening got restored to "In Production" with a price and a 9/18 shipping estimate.
Clearly something's been churning on Lenovo's end with resetting all the orders. Here's to hoping we hear more this week. -
You're correct, sorry. There have been a total of three auths. The older ones have not yet expired. I had to call to have them removed

Wait until it trips the fraud protection and prevents further purchases on your credit card. And yes, it's a true story.

Order Date: 2012/08/24
Status: In Production
Estimated ship date: 9/04
Estimated delivery date: 9/11
And in Option / Ethernet Adapter I have: No Preload
Model is i5 (3427u)/4GB/128GB
I ordered with a sales representative and paid using an international wire transfer (I'm in France, a friend bring it back to me in October)
At least they can't charge me twice! -
-
1. 08/18
2. i5/8gb/128gb (without ethernet dongle)
3. Montreal
4. 08/27 -> 08/28 -> 08/31 -> 09/01
5. 09/03
6. 09/10
7.
Shanghai, China 09/04/2012 6:25 P.M. Export Scan
09/04/2012 6:25 P.M. Origin Scan
China 09/04/2012 7:51 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
Mine finally shipped out a few hours ago, perhaps because I originally ordered without the ethernet dongle. I was going to call this morning to get a concession, but I'm not sure they would give it to me after it's been shipped. I'm just happy it's on its way. -
I'm a little bit jealous, dude. I ordered mine with the same config 8/16. the only difference is mine comes with an ethernet dongle. My order was changed back from RTM to order received with a zero dollar total for a few days. The estimated ship date is 9/18. what the hell is going on? lenovo is testing my patience
.
-
This is getting funny. An order I made on day 1 and cancelled the same day is back into "In Production" and an auth has been placed back onto my card.
While my real order is back into "Order Received"
If they ship my cancelled orders I'm going to laugh.
