I decided to cancel my order and get a decked out x230, sans ssd/ram where aftermarket is obviously cheaper.
-
Did anyone get their machines shipped today yet? I was supposed to ship today, normally Lenovo ships overnight (our overnight) so Im thinking I have another missed ship date.
-
Don't expect your machine to be shipped until the 16th. -
Mine was delayed again last night, so I decided I'd and ask for a discount this morning. But checked my email and found it had shipped yesterday after all. No dongle, base model.
-
I don't suppose anyone that has theirs shipped has a dongle
-
Also, it seems that every time Lenovo wants to put another temporary charge on my card, they change the status back to "in production", change the totals back from 0, place the charge, and then it goes back to "order received" with 0 in the sub-total, tax, recycling etc. This is the third time this happens - it happened again this morning. For such a large, established company, their order system is a train wreck. -
Im thinking I should be shipping today or tomorrow, because the charge on my CC is now approved. Its not a hold anymore. So maybe this is a good thing. I am supposed to have the dongle on my order, but wont be heart broken if its not there.
-
I just called my CC company, and they don't have any history of Lenovo putting a temporary charge or pre-authorization of any kind. I ordered on 8/19. Not a good sign :S
-
Anyone else notice the ship dates for new orders on the website are now 9/26 for all three models...not sure what that means for us.
-
Am I the only one that hasn't been charged or had any held fees? I'm using a debit card, not a CC if that makes any difference..
-
Well.
They couldn't change the shipping address in time, but it'll be overnighted, and should find it's way to my desk sometime tomorrow. -
microchip13: you should have a Private Message on this site from me.

This morning's delay discount::
I ordered an X1 Carbon i5/8 GB RAM/256 GB SSD on August 18. Shipping on this got pushed back 3-4X and my most recent order status shows a shipping date of September 19 with an estimated delivery of September 26. At the same time I ordered an external 500 GB secure hard drive which was delivered a week ago. I purchased the system via the State Bar of California/Lenovo website and used that discount + the 10% new newsletter discount for $319 off the web price (including hard drive and 3 year depot warranty).
Encouraged by others' experience here, I phoned Lenovo to the State Bar extension and whined eloquently and passionately! Did not do me any good. The polite (Hispanic?) man on the phone said he was sorry, the delay was due to events "out of Lenovo's control" and there was NO DISCOUNT that he was authorized to give me. He insisted that the unit would ship on September 16 notwithstanding my order status that it would not ship until the 19th. I told him that others had received a discount for delays and this delay had caused me great disruption of my work. He was insistent that he was not authorized to give a discount. In a huff I CANCELED my order. He said I could do that directly over the phone, and said that he had submitted that cancellation. As for the hard drive which I had already received, he said that I could keep it or return it.
And here is where the story gets interesting... Continuing my huff, I said I was going to return the hard drive too. Had I not said that, I would never have reached a person who could give me a discount/refund for the delay.
So the sales rep transferred me to the Returns Department. There a nice (Indian?) woman took my information, and saw (or I told her) that I had just cancelled my order for the X1 Carbon. She said: "Oh, we can give you inducements (or some such word) to reinstate your order. If you give me a couple of minutes, I can check" I waited a couple of minutes and she said that Lenovo could offer me a $90 credit back + expedite shipping from regular to express (2-3 business days). She also insisted the laptop would ship on the 16th. I decided to accept that offer. $90 represents about a 5% discount beyond what I already got at purchase.
The way the $90 refund works is that I am billed for the regular amount of the purchase when the unit ships. AFTER I receive a tracking number, I am supposed to e-mail or telephone her at the Returns Dept and they will apply the $90 credit to my account.
I told her that the config I had purchased included the USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter by default with no option to not include it. I told her I did not need an Ethernet connection if delays in obtaining "the dongle" were delaying shipping. She said that was not the problem. I did not follow all that she said but I understood that the ethernet jack depended on the dongle and some internal hardware and it was the internal ethernet hardware that was causing the delay.
She also said that all X1 Carbons ordered during the week when I got mine were being held until September 16 for shipping.
OK brain dump complete. Got a $90 discount bringing my pre-California sales tax hardware cost to $1,479. -
microchip13, I see you posted on the 4th it was shipped, did it make it in 2 days? or did it ship prior to the 4th?
-
My 8/14 order just changed estimated shipping date:
Estimated Shipping: 8/22 -> 8/26 -> 8/30 -> 9/6 -> 9/19
Estimated Delivery: 9/26
Feels irritated, I am going to call them for another discount. -
Woah... so my totals which had been zeroed out are now back... And I have a pending charge on my card. Is that a good sign?

Just stopped by j&r in manhattan. That have 1 base model in stock came yesterday. But it 1499 that over 200 from the origional price (I paid)
-
-
I believe there's is a i5-3427U unit, not the i5-3417U base.
Also, the retail models come with a 3-year depot warranty instead of the 1-year which standard for the ones from lenovo.com. -
Well, my 8/16 order just shipped. It's ironic, as just yesterday (or the day before), I emailed websales asking for my order to be canceled given that my ship dates changed to 10/30. Someone replied back stating that my order shipped, and it was too late to cancel. Funny, not haha, how that worked out. The tracking info is still too new to know when I should expect it, but coming from China or wherever, I would imagine I should receive it early next week.

Has a single consumer received an X1C yet?

All of this will be ancient history in another 4 weeks (I think). -
What are the specs on yours? -
The thing that Lenovo doesn't ship orders in sequence is quite strange. -
Just want to check if things are moving forward in China, because it is just early morning in there. -
@urbanglowcam

i5/8gb/128gb -
What the hell? Pending Transaction dissappeared. Ordered hasn't done anything except add back the totals. I ordered on 8-16 and there are people getting tracking numbers who ordered after that. Damn it Lenovo.
-
I know I ordered on the 14th, its messed up. But we should be happy for the guys getting their machines. Im happy for the ones with tracking number, but really upset with lenovo. I have not received an email or even a call with a status update. -
-
They should have waited until July 1st to do a full announcement and put a firm 9/1 release date, They rushed things two weeks early for pretty much everything.
-
-
I just called Lenovo again and spoke to a supervisor in the sales dept, and he said that what they did was go back into all the orders removed all the dongles and were shipping without the dongle. So for us who placed the order with the dongle we will be getting the machine without the dongle and that would ship later. He suspects the guys that are getting their items shipped in the last day or two were guys that placed the order without the dongle, therefore lenovo did not need to edit their orders, and thus quicker shipping. My order (which was placed o the 14th) was re created and is in production without the dongle. So I guess we will see what happens.

I feel glad for other people whose units got shipped, but I am definitely pissed off by Lenovo... -

It's especially galling when it's obvious that the CSRs are lying to you; not five minutes ago, one of them told me that no systems have or will ship out until the 16th. Seriously, you're going to lie to my face like that when people online are getting tracking numbers and their machines? -
The reason some have gotten theirs shipped is because when they ordered there was no dongle. When we ordered we had the dongle and it had to be manually removed from the BOM's (Bill of Material) and the orders re created and that took time. Thats why ordered were canceled, because they were being recreated, and re planned.
Call sales, have them check you order, give them a piece of your mind and hopefully you will feel better. That what I did this AM. -
Order Status switched to "In Production" I seriously hope this ships Monday...
-
Now other people who order well after 8/22 are getting their machines, this makes me feel unfair. It's not that I have problems with these other customers, it's Lenovo's processing that makes me so upset. -
So I too ordered on the 14th and haven't had any ship date. My status currently shows "In Production" and the system details still lists "Option / Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter".
Are others who originally ordered with the adapter included still seeing this? Because it sounds like several of you are saying the ethernet adapter disappeared from your order..
Very frustrating to see others getting shipment notifications who ordered after you. I'm still staring at an estimated ship date of 9/6, which means they've given me five different dates and missed every single one of them. I am happy that it shows that the laptops are moving finally, but I still suspect mine is nearly a week away from shipping..
