I see. I have no knowledge on the connectors anyway. I really hope that it will work. Initially I was looking at B156HAN03.0. And by comparing to the 3200x1800 panel, it says "signal interface pin pitch = 0.5 mm" VS 0.4 mm for 3200x1800. So I assumed that this would be the reason that the other connector did not fit. But it's still IPEX.. Although one says eDP (2 lanes) and the other eDP (4 lanes) which again I don't know if the difference matters.

So I bought and installed the B156han01.2 and have had some trouble with a black bar on the far right of the display creeping up from time to time. Gonna need a replacement but was wondering should i go with the same screen or is there a better one out there, i paid about 100$ for that model and dont mind going up to around 150 for a great screen. Any input is greatly welcomed TY in advance!!! IMG_2118 (1).jpg IMG_2118 (1).jpg

First thing I would do is take that panel back out, take out the cable, wipe it off, put it back in, and see if it still does that. I've seen some preeeeetty strange issues from a poor cable connection...

How would you clean it exactly just spray with air, wipe down with a cloth? I'm just worried about damaging the connection but still want this screen to work, the screen when working IS AMAZING compared to the original, but obviously the bar on the right side is a problem - TY for your input and help!!!

Just wipe it down with a cloth. It's completely possible that the panel is messed up though, so don't get your hopes up.

Let us know if re-seating it fixed the problem!

Use the search tool. Plenty of posts telling where people got their screens. All they did was say that they needed this exact model in the message when they bought the screen so they wouldn't get a compatible display instead.

Previously in this thread people mentioned that B156HAN01.1 is actually newer than B156HAN01.2, is that so ?

no it's just the panel itself with no digitizer and I think the glass to glass cover is glued on for touch

I'm just about to bring this up. when I swapped my panel today, the sticker on it reads LVDS and I know for sure that's complete bullsh!t. the connector is still eDP, but I just don't understand why they would put a LVDS label on it.

my guess is that it's the same for 4k as well

hello i changed the screen of my Y50 but the middle part of the display doesn't show and the laptop keeps restarting. I've tried reconnecting the connector behind the display, checked that it's inserted properly. what do i do ?

Changed the display back to default as the new AU optronics B156HAN01.2 was not displaying the middle part, only the L and O were visible in LENOVO, then i checked the connector behind the screen, reconnected it a couple of times but nothing changed so i put the original display back and started the pc, everything was displaying fine but now my Y50's stuck in a loop. It keeps displaying a blue screen and tries to fix something and says system service exception underneath ? Can't login to windows, it just keeps restarting, any idea ? I had the latest graphics drivers before changing the display and everything was working fine. Please help.

Can you see the LENOVO logo after you put the default panel back in ? If you can, I guess your laptop is ok, just something wrong with your system or drivers. When starting the computer, keep pressing F8 until you see a page will different options, choose "Safety Mode", and then uninstall graphics driver you installed previous, then restart. Or in that F8 page, select the option shows last time in right configuration or something.

Just got the B156HAN0.12 and i'm so dissapointed. The response time results in significant ghosting, especially compared to the uber-smooth TN panel.

I'm actually sticking with the default y50 panel.

If ANYBODY knows of any IPS alternative with a <10 ms response time, please let me know.

Hi all! The screen arrived today. Only took 7 days to get here from Hong Kong and im from the UK. Inasne difference already in the screen. After about a month or so using the stock screen the difference is shocking instantly. Also finally took the protective film off the screen which is a bonus. I just watched star wars in 1080p on it to compare from the previous screen and the colours are actually so much brighter in general. My photoshop and video edits are needing redoing really aha

So if you are from the UK and want to get a good IPS Matte screen cheap and high quality then this is your man! I pestered him by messaging to make sure i was getting the HAN model exactly and not the HTN model that i already have that came with it!

Over the moon :D Easy as hell to install. Already done it twice from receiving the wrong screen!!

You need to make sure no dust went into the connector. Sounds like some of the signals are not being connected resulting in half a screen. You may also have a faulty monitor.

I'm a bit confused. I'm bought on getting the AU instead of the LG that's for sure, but does anyone know if the B156HAN01.1 is better than the 01.2? Which one should I get? I read 1.1 is newer but then read the 1.2 IS the newer model. I'd be of great help, especially that I'm buying from Costa Rica, I want to buy the right thing here because if I mess up returning the panel would be a pain.

I don't know which is better, but I installed the 1.2 (bought off ebay, from link posted a few pages earlier) and can say it's a huge upgrade from the stock one in every way. I'm completely satisfied with it.

Were you ever able to resolve this? I have a similar issue, except that the right portion of my new panel is fully black vs. distorted. I've swapped the old and new panels back out multiple times. Each time the old one works as before but the new one has a black bar in pretty much the exact same right portion of the screen. I've also used canned air to blow out the connector on the new panel and don't otherwise see anything obviously physically wrong with it. Starting to assume it's a dud and am working with customer service, but am hoping I don't have to send it back...

After the initial nonsense with eastcoast LCDs I ordered a second panel, this time a 1.2 from aliexpress. They sent me the right panel, but one of the screw plates or hinges or whatever they're called came bent 90 degrees. It was very easy to bend back into place. Sadly, though, the screen also came with 4 stuck/dead pixels (3 white 1 red, no luck fixing them so far) that only appear with dark (not just black) backgrounds. There is burn-in, too--at minimum behind the taskbar. There's also fairly significant light bleed in each of the four corners. Oh, to top it off, the head of one of the 4 screws broke off after I screwed the panel back on. I wasn't even close to over-tightening it. How can I possibly get the rest of the screw out? How important is it to have all 4 of those screws in place?

I will say that the screen makes everything way prettier, though.

btw, for anyone trying to return a panel to eastcoast LCDs: if you insist enough that they pay for the return shipping costs (because they sent you the entirely wrong product), they probably will. They did for me after a couple emails.

    tl;dr:
    1.2 screen from aliexpress:
-1 screw hinge arrived bent 90 degrees
    -4 stuck/dead pixels
    -significant light bleed in corners
    -some burn-in/retention
    -lenovo uses damned cheap screws
    +much better image quality

I am very sensitive to ghosting from IPS. I hated the Razer Blade 14 IPS 3k display due to this and sold it within a month. Seemed like no one else cared or noticed.

That being said I notice very little ghosting with my 1.2, no more than the stock panel anyway. I'm guessing the better colors and contrast make up for the slightly slower response. I find it hard to believe its actually 25ms but all I know is it isn't noticeable in gaming for me!

After using the 25ms screen for a few weeks now, I notice the lag compared to when I connect to a TN panel at work. The picture is great, but I think everyone still considering a replacement should get the 16ms one just like heibk201 if you intend on playing any shooters.

it's easy to tell the difference if you are moving your POV around really quickly. it's not an issue for 2D tho. my take would be if you can't notice the difference, don't bother with it.

I was looking around and if you want a TN panel, there are PLENTY out there that are better than the stock one. Stock is 400:1 contrast ratio and 220 nits, while I was able to find compatible ones that hit:

600:1 Contrast, 300 nits, glossy, 8 ms response time
    500:1 contrast, 300 nits, matte, 8 ms
    600:1 contrast, 220 nits, matte, 12 ms

. Considering the IPS ones are 700:1 and 300/400 nits, that's not a huge difference for much better response times. You'll still suffer from bad viewing angles though. In fact, I might go for that first one. Screen model is http://www.panelook.com/N156HGE-EB1_Innolux_15.6_LCM_overview_20170.html.

    Hi All,
I ordered a B156HAN01.2 screen from lcdtech and it arrived today. I just installed it and it appeared to be fine. However, changing the background to blue resulted in a white vertical line the full length of the screen. Do you think this is a defective screen or something burn-in will resolve?
Beyond the white line, the screen looks much better than the default screen. I contacted lcdtech and I am waiting for a response. Thanks for any responses,
    Roger

After looking through this thread, I understand there is little information on replacing the y50 touch screen with a better touch screen.

So I am posting this to say that I am eagerly waiting for a touch screen replacement guide to be done. I am very close to pulling the trigger and buying the touch model, but I'm still hesitant because of the screen quality. If I could replace the screen with an IPS touch screen, that would seal the deal for me. I know the ASUS N550JK-DS71T has a really good screen. I would love to put that on the y50 as someone else has mentioned in this thread.

For my case, I got a huge black strip at the same location as you described. I returned the screen to seller and then he shipped another one to me, however, it turned out to be the same issue. I did little investigation and eventually found that during the shippment, the area of the screen panel connection (the bottom of the panel where all black plastic covers) was bended in the shipping maybe due to the space limitation. So when I got the panel, bended the connection area back to in line with the panel flat and then installed on my laptop, I got the black strip. So this is what happened to me. After all these, I gave up the panel from the seller even I did not ship it back to him again. Instead, I order a new one from Icdtech.

Let us know what you found and how you deal with this case.
