LTN156H L01-101 is the sister screen to GS60 and it's a PLS panel, you are looking at another TN panel
-
Isn't the B156HAN01.1 just a newer version of the B156HAN01.2?
-
Why in the world would you want to buy the 4K model and then replace the screen? The 4K model already comes with a fantastic IPS screen that is very bright and produces excellent colors and has great viewing angles. The only problem with the 4K model is the 48 Hz issue, but that has nothing to do with the screen hardware. That's an issue with the Intel Optimus display driver and you'd still have that same problem if you switched out the panel to something else.
-
The third column is clearly the best! what is that? Is that just a reference to what the picture ought to look like?
-
that's reference... the original picture LOL
-
Yes: "Left: original AUO panel, Middle: HL01-102 PLS panel, Right: original picture"
But you have to remember that this isn't completely accurate, just a good example of what to expect. With the original, you don't have the extra layer of the camera that took the picture. You also have your own screen that you're viewing this on, which is going to change how they look just a little bit too. The best way to tell would be to see the comparison in person. -
yes, of course

Any advice where i can get a good glossy IPS Panel in germany?
I can only find some resellers in england on ebay, but they are selling "compatible" displays so im afraid i will get some ty TN Panel. -
Take a look at this one : Aliexpress.com : Buy IPS LCD Screen Brand new A+ LP156WF4 SPC1 SPD1 LCD 1920*1080
I have spoken with them and they told me they have the glossy one in stock right now. Just tell them at the checkout that YOU WANT THIS EXACT MODEL ( SPC1 - Glossy) and not a compatible one.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 30, 2015 -
are there any other screens that have been tested by other users?
-
My y50 1855 and B156HAN01.1 will be here Tuesday. Will be putting up comparison pictures that evening

Thanks for the advice but they dont ship to Germany.
-
What do you mean? You can change it to ship to your country. On the top right of their site, there says Ship to with a flag on its right. Just click on it and change it to Germany. I would then recommend you, to pay the extra 6 euro for DHL shipping as it will arrive a lot faster in comparison with the Standard China Post.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015

Did you check https://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/?
They sell IPS original panels. Quick delivery. Eccelent customer service. -
this is exactly what I think too. We are upgrading from a bad screen to a mediocre one. Shouldn't there be a nice color gamut and fast response one somewhere? shouldn't there be some Sharp panels, somewhere?
-
are there any other screens that you would suggest?
What screens are you using and where did you buy them? -
Thank you very much! Just ordered it with DHL and told them to only ship the exact model.
I hope everything will be ok (no dead pixels, wrong model)
Cant wait to swap the screens.

Good point, however to understand the difference one should know the original cmn panel characteristics.
How much gamut/brightness/contrast it has? -
Looking into buying the b156han01.2 now...
What do you all think of this offer:
15 6" 1920x1080 LED Screen for AU Optronics B156HAN01 2 LCD Laptop | eBay
It says 1 to 5 dead pixels! Am I reading that right?
Any better place to buy this screen? I'm not sure whether to get that or the LP156WF4-SPD1. Tricky stuff, buying a laptop screen!
Edit: There's also this one...

Apologies if these are not suitable! -
Would a replacement screen for the Asus n550jk fit in this laptop. such as this
Or if not that model some other good ips screen from another laptop found on that site? -
I may order the Y50 touch model, is there any IPS display that can replace the original TN one? (it doesn't have to be touch, just at least compatible)
-
AFAIK the replacements are non touch only.
If you plan on losing touch capabilities why not save some bucks and buy the standard version? -
To be honest, I am in the same boat as Narada above me. I work in a computer shop and can get a ridiculous deal on the touch one(we have one that has been returned and don't carry the non-touch Y50). Screen quality and color quality are much much more important to me than having touch ability. Could I just replace the screen with one the compatible models everyone is talking about and lose touch?
-
makes sense.
From what I can see searching on google, digitizer (a.k.a. the device that gives the touch ability to a screen) should be on a separate connector. Male plug going out of your mother board, female socket in the back of your screen.
What you should check is if you can just leave the plug floating or you need to terminate it with some kind of load. -
Could we get an updated list of compatible displays? People say that many more displays are compatible but there is no list and i dont know what to look for.
I want a good glossy IPS display.m1ko likes this. -
double post, deleted
-
Hmmm... Hasty cat had blind kittens.
Maybe I should have waited to buy the LG.
Oh well, I'll try it and let you guys know. It still has good viewing angles, twice the contrast and more brigthness. Maybe overall it will be good enough
-
I'm sorry but i think you've read that incorrectly.
That review is for the ORIGINAL y50 screen (non touch) -
this guy gets it.
We need an accurate post in OP with:
-Viewing angles
-color gamut
-TN, IPS, etc
-response times
-Hz
-brightness
-power usage and estimated battery drainage
-recommended color correction (if need there be)
-dedicated pictures
-recommended place to buy from
-other pros and cons
What do you say, Ramzay?
-
Today's the day my y50 and B156HAN01.1 arrive, will have pics up this evening of the comparison

Now I am deciding to just get the normal non-touch model and replace the screen then. Or maybe even get the new Y series laptop when time comes. I still have a lot of time to decided, as I will probably starting buying in September-ish.
-
Aye.
And i compared it with my SPB1.
Contrast is 700:1 against 300:1, brigthness is 300 against ~220, gamut is 60% against 34/49% (idk if the 60% of panelook is relative to adobe RGB or sRGB) -
please use the template, and remember to specify full name of the panel, and where you bought it from.
-
I believe panelook uses NTSC for color gamut. (In compare view hover over the icon next to the % and it will say)
-
The idea was to have two comparable numbers... I don't know if 60% of NTSC gamut is more, much more, equal, or less, than the 34/49% shown in the review
I'm sorry, what template? I don't quite follow you
-
Use the template shown here:
The review on notebookcheck.net uses RGB and sRGB. -
Dang, these pics didn't turn out as good as I thought, but here is the B156HAN01.1
AUO B156HAN01.1 Overview - Panelook.com
-
It would be nice if you could make a video showing us the viewing angles. This way we will have more material upon to judge what our final decision will be.
-
Oh ok, didn`t get it. I`ll post it along with images as soon as I receive it.
Which I hope will be soon.
Damn italian post offices
-
sei italiano quindi? da dove hai acquistato lo schermo? e da dove hai acquistato lo y50?
-
that panel looks really amazing, everything about it seems perfect,
the viewing angles, the color gamut..
but that response time is on the low side.. there must be something better! -
I ordered this same screen. I think I figured out why it does that. The system doesn't always know a new monitor has been installed. I looked in device manager and it still had the Chi Mei listed as monitor. Since there is no EASY way to remove the battery from the laptop to reset the videocard properly the other way around it (what I did) was simply re-install the video card drivers from the Lenovo site. Same version, just re-install. It refreshes the videocard, and then upon restart I notice the monitor is picked up. The LG LP156WF4 (SP)(D1) works, and has amazing viewing angles, I am having some issues adjusting my whites, but I suspect it's my screen. If so, I will return it. Does anyone have a color profile for the LG LP156WF4 (SP)(D1)?
-
Hey Guys.
I was wondering if any of u know a good TN panel with a glossy screen? or if any of u could help me find one that fits
The reason that it's gonna be a TN panel and not one of the IPS panels you've listed, is that it's primally gonna be used for gaming.
And so far in this thread, no TN panels have been listed right? -
@ m1ko:
Gonna reply you with a private message, I don't think our friends would enjoy italian chat on their thread
-
Yes, I've been MIA for a bit, building a new gaming desktop and dealing with the baby and whatnot.
I'll look through the thread and update the OP.m1ko likes this. -
I update the list when people post with new confirmed displays. Unless I've missed any, I think only three people have posted confirming what panel they ordered, and that they replaced it and it works.
-
looks easy to do . Is it possibel that after changing the screen and if there happens to be some malfunction of the laptop due to reasons not because of the screen, would we get the warranty if we put back the old display back on it ..?
-
ahah, agreed, I've sent you a message back
-
i dont think that they would notice that the screen has been changed, but you have to make sure that the sticker on the connector is in perfect condition, no scratches or anything.chillz88 likes this.

i just ordered my lenovo y50 non-touch. Can one of you update the first post to reflect all the lcd model/brand type and which one is still available?
so which one do you all recommend? I do play games such as zombie monster robot beta, tom Clancy's ghost recon phantom, LOL, and diablo 3.
did any of you also replace the thermal paste on it?
thanks
