Are there any major difference between the LG and the AUO B156HAN01.2 screen? Seems like people are only buying the AUO model. Am i missing something? Thanks

Sorry if this has already been answered, but can any one of the recommended Y50 replacement panels replace the Y50 Touch panel and still keep its touch capabilities? If not is there a panel that is capable of replacing the Y50 Touch version?

Mine had a Chi Mei panel, but it's possible they have some with the AUO panel as well.

For those replacing screens, are you guys experiencing any light bleed from corners of the panel?

Uhh guys I screwed up a bit and did not follow the advice of requesting the *specific panel only*
Bought B156HAN01.1 on amazon from East Coast LCDs and instead received a B156HTN03.0 (a glossy version on the original TN), I sent a return request due to a "different item than ordered" but not sure what to expect. I mean I would have never thought this possible, it's as ridiculous as ordering a lenovo and getting a macbook instead...

I fell into the same hole you did. I ordered the B156HAN01.1 from "brandnewlcds" on eBay (listed as Bliss Computers on PayPal, same company that operates "East Coast LCDs") and I received B156HTN03.0 as well. I tried asking them if they were sending me the right model before the LCD arrived however they did not respond at all.

I have since purchased B156HAN01.2 from lcdtech889 who responds in a timely manner and seems very reputable. Waiting for the panel to arrive now.

I did the exact same thing you did and just got my refund today (same company and through amazon). Here's my experience so that you can sort of know what to expect.

A day after my return should have arrived they sent me an email telling me that my screen arrived in working condition. Three days later Amazon sent me an email stating that my refund had been processed. My refund was $25.99 less than my order total. So, minus 9.99 for shipping, you can expect to lose around 16 dollars from your refund to whatever "fees" they apply to your return. This is of course not counting the cost of shipping your return back to them.
At the very least they didn't give me any trouble when I asked for my return, but it's not much of a consolation. I hope your return goes smoothly!

I just ordered one to the US, stated I needed the exact model and not a comparable.

The post a couple pages back with the results of the AlieExpress screen look AMAZING compared to the standard one. I literally HATE the screen on my Y50. It is the ONLY thing, besides the touchpad (that I'm getting used to) that I cannot stand. The performance is great (I installed a 500gb Samsung EVO/Fresh 8.1) on it. And overall, gaming/etc the computer has been very good. The battery life is meh, but for how light it is, it is still good. I am slightly annoyed that I cant watch a movie that is over 2 hours long, but I kind of knew that going in.

I'll update when I can with the new screen.

Seems easy enough to install...hopefully the screen I get from Alieexpress is what it was for you guys:

B156HAN01.1 Thin slim Laptop Screen IPS-in Laptop LCD Screen from Electronics on Aliexpress.com

That is SPECIFICALLY, what I ordered. Will confirm when I get it.

Hi, I'm new to this website. I'm probably going to buy Lenovo Y50 with matte version but I have a hard time with picking a right screen for me with 4 different screen types:
    B156HAN01.2
    B156HAN01.1
    LP156WF4(SP)(B1)
    LP156WF4(SP)(D1)

    Which is the best?
    Thank you!

Yeah, it was rough. But most other people were paying 90ish-100ish. It came out to like 120.

Problem was I couldn't find another person shipping the screen and not a comparable model. Got sick of waiting since the screen is driving me insane.

i did the same thing on Amazon.

DO NOT BUY FROM East Coast LCD's.
DO NOT BUY FROM East Coast LCD's.
DO NOT BUY FROM East Coast LCD's.
DO NOT BUY FROM East Coast LCD's.

Please. They're trying to make an extra buck by selling inferior quality screens.

I find it very unethical that you're not getting the the exact model as advertised.
Scumbags in my eyes. They know exactly what they're doing.

BTW I received the B156HTN03.0. I'm not happy right now if you haven't figured that out yet.

Hi guys, I've looked everywhere but I can't seem to find someone who had the same issue:
I was trying to replace the screen on my new y50 with the B156HAN01.2, once I got it hooked up it flickered and then the backlight died completely. Now neither screen works on my machine. My guess is, you are not supposed to replace the screen while the computer/backlight is on? Is this correct? I've been searching a little bit and can't find anywhere that says this is the case though so I'm not sure.

Anyways, what should I do about it now? I took it in to my local computer repair shop over a week ago, but it seems to be taking forever and I need the computer before I move in early September. I know I ed something up, and I don't really know what. If anyone could help me and shed some light on this it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I changed my screen with the same screen, and I had the same issue.. its not broken, it just does this and after a while it fixes itself. Read my post linked here.

-You shouldn't have brought it repairs. You should have read the thread.

This was previously asked, but what is the difference between the B156HAN01.2 IPS DISPLAY WIDE VIEW and the normal B156HAN01.2? Is the normal one not IPS, or is it also IPS but somehow not 'wide view?' I'm referring to the models found here.

If you replaced the screen while the laptop was turned on... That's one of the worst things you can do. The thing isn't made for hotplugging. Good luck man.

As for the computer repair shop, just call them and ask how it's going. I suspect that at this point, they at least have an idea of what's going on. Make sure they know what you did; telling them will help them a lot. If they have to order a replacement screen, expect another week, possibly another couple after that.

I suspect it's just marketing. IPS is IPS. Same model of the screen and everything... I haven't seen this anywhere else either.

Say they pay $40 for the screen. If they sell it for $90 with free shipping, they're only making a profit of about $40 ($10 for shipping). Add $10 onto the selling price, and they make 25% more on each sale. $10 isn't much until you start getting into the hundreds of sales. Would you rather have $4,000 or $5,000? If they were just to take the original and mark it up $10, they're more likely to lose a sale. If they don't mark it up, they don't make anything extra. But if they keep the regular and add a listing for the regular with some extra marketing tricks, they have the potential to make anywhere between $4,000 and $5,000 as they can sell it with a higher profit but keep the customer if the person isn't willing to pay extra. Between those two numbers is still better than sticking with the lower one. After all, who doesn't like profit? ;)

I'm not saying it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint, but it is kind of shoddy for a business to do that. I usually don't trust businesses who are willing to do that sort of thing to make more money off of unassuming customers.

So I took it back from the repair shop today (microcenter, they hadn't even started on it), and it still wasn't working. So it wasn't the delay issue that m1ko suggested. But then I just turned the laptop off and took the cable out and put it back in and turned it on again and voila! It started working perfectly. So basically the takeaway is just DON'T attempt to replace the screen while the computer is on... sorry I'm new to this I had no idea that was an issue!

Glad I didn't bother purchasing from them, something about the $80us price tag seemed to good to be true. Just checked and they're now offering the panel @ $295us

Yes it is replaceable, have the same model. Purchased from ebay seller lcdtech889. The panel is matte and an IPS display. Huge improvement over stock, colors / viewing angles are amazing.

Lol glad you got it working again, lesson learned. When it comes to computer repairs always power off

Consider it a reminder to do your research and learn something new. The more you know, the better. :)

Sometimes in similar situations, you can call their bluff and bring down the price even further. Life is just a game, after all. As you learn the rules, it becomes easier to play well.

To keep this post pertinent to the thread, I'd like to say that the one that I ordered is expected to be here sometime by the beginning of next week. That's what I get for ordering from China... Funny how it goes from China to NY instead of CA. Anyway, I hope it is the model I specifically asked for. If so, I only paid $70 for the IPS screen which is a win in my opinion. :D

To reiterate my intent once receiving the screen: I will take before and after pictures from the same position of camera and laptop and cut each picture in half with the left side showing the old screen and the right showing the new in an attempt to more accurately display the difference. Is there anything specific anyone would like me to do concerning the pictures?

I'm glad it worked! But remember: Never ever touch anything in a computer while it's on! it's s safety issue. Now, Just remember to change the Intel media graphics settings (color and contrast etc) and then shutdown.
Of course if you want to!

High unlikely, it's a driver issue.

I thought we confirmed it was a hardware issue? Even when the driver was uninstalled and everything claimed the screen was running at 65hz (I think, maybe 64), a recording of the screen showed it was skipping frames and showing only 48. I can't remember where exactly I saw this, but I definitely saw it.

Does anyone with a B156HAN01.2 notice temporary ghosting? Mine has it and is mostly around the edges of the screen.

    UPDATE:

I have had my replacement screen on for about a week. Did not start noticing the ghosting until today. It seems to be getting worse and worse

    Update #2
It seems that the ghosting is localized to the edges of the screen around 15mm thick

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here suffers a retention problem with their B156HAN01.2? I originally ordered a LP156WF4(SP)(B1) from laptopscreen.com but they sent me a B156HAN01.2 instead.

I'm fine with B156HAN01.2 actually, the color is great. But the image retention is bugging me more and more. I wonder if this is a known issue for this panel, or is this some sort of "burn-in" period, or did I just received a lemon?

Yes, I am getting the exact same thing, just started noticing it. I was waiting for other's confirmation if this is a common thing or if I got a lemon too.

The weird thing is that it didn't start happening until a few days of using the screen. Did yours start happening right away?

Got mine on the 14th and start noticing it yesterday.

I had one other issue as well on the first day, but it has gotten better after a few hours of use. The issue was some dark spots on the right side of my screen that looked like some kind of "hidden triangle". I also wonder if anybody suffers this issue as well. See pics below.

I am so frustrated. I ordered my display from lcdtech889 and I never received it. I believe it is UPS's problem but still extremely frustrating. Not only did it never arrive, but the day is was originally supposed to come it was delayed. So on top of waiting another day and being home ALL day, checking my phone, waiting to hear a doorbell, went outside to check multiple times, it never came. I checked my phone at 4:30pm and it said it was delivered at 3:54pm. I then checked outside and It wasn't out there and I never heard a doorbell. I opened a case on ebay and UPS is "investigating" but this situation completely sucks.

Right click on that and then Properties. Then click on Events and you'll see it.

    Mine says: Device DISPLAY\ AUO36ED\
