I just decided to do the option of "Remove everything and reinstall windows"
Just to do a clear wipe, but wth, its only a light blue screen with a cursor loading.
    It's been over 2 hours :(.
    Should I power it off.

At first it seemed fine cause I filled out all the info for the recovery options and it was saying almost ready and then after I looked back at it after like 5 minutes, it was this light blue screen background I chose with the cursor endlessly looping.

Does anyone know if there is an online retailer aside from Klick that has the 512 gb Y50 in Canada? I'm getting it for my graduation present but my dad outright refuses to get a Paypal for whatever reason, even though I try to explain to him how secure it is.

I waited for a couple more hours and still nothing, so I was like w.e and just pressed the power button.
Brought up a black screen for a second and then booted up again and it was fine ;-;. What the hell, it didn't even say anything about just pressing power button or restarting it.

The two only problems that still gets me confused is:
    1) Why is my wifi connection so bad? It literally goes from 5.5 Mbps to 79 Mbps sometimes. Most of the time it's in the 5.5-10 Mbps range. Why doesn't it stay at that range?
    2) Why does my frames drop dramatically when I'm on battery but there's an immediate frame increase when plugged in?

Wow, 1650 for 512 GB ssd AND 16 GB ram version. I am guessing this is the highest end 4k available, as I don't see any room for improvement. If I get confirmation that the screen is IPS/PLS I'm ordering it no questions asked. Props to lenovo for good pricing here. Question is when is klick getting these?

Edit: shame the screen is glossy, I wonder if they will release some anti glare or matte version?

they probably won't release matte version and

i have a bad feeling it's TN :-/ because if it were IPS they would definitely have marketed it that way or else they would be stupid not to! Every laptop with IPS has an indication for it or at least "wide viewing angles 178 degrees" or what not. Too bad.

can someone tell me about the battery?
I searched this thread and couldn't find anything..
is it removable or not? all the answers I see on the internet are confusing..
I don't mind if it's not hot swappable like in Asus N550JK , I just want to know whether it's user replaceable if the battery dies??

although its not removable untill u open the back casing, then the battery is exposed... if it fails, you can get a new one and fix it up...

Does anyone know if/when we can expect an European release? The base Y50 model w/ 1TB hybrid HDD is listed for €899 on Amazon.de, but it says that it will ship in 1 to 3 months.

No kidding, it's certainly not cheap but well below any competition for what it offers. Seriously, this is substantially cheaper than Ghost and Razer, even if those have some features unique to them.

I'm extremely anxious about the panel type but at that price I think it's still a pretty great deal.

Also, is there a touch one coming or only non-touch 4k? Has Lenovo called this out?

I think i will hop off at the Asus-Lane :) street number G551 or the station after that at street GX500 (a more expensive part of town unfortunately!)

No but seriously, the MATTE _IPS_ screen of g551 just melts me away every time. Unfortunately gx500 is not matte but a 96 whr battery kinda compensates for that :p

erm dude nobody said anything about the pricing, which is clearly good but at the cost of something im trying to avoid in my future laptop! TN screen! Im tired of bad viewing angles and want to put that behind me not invest 1500.- on it again

i am ready to pay a nice premium for 2014 screen quality

Edit: Sorry, this post was in reference to KlickOnline's response to the i7-4700 question, forgot to quote.

To follow this question up - There is currently only one 4k model listed on Lenovo's site and it comes with the i7-4710HQ. Does that mean the 4k models you'll be getting will be a different variant? If so, would you have any further details on specs such as ram, hdd/ssd, etc etc? Thanks Brian.

Yeah I understand the confusion there - we currently only stock the 4700 models as they are a lot cheaper for us from Lenovo; however, it looks like the 4K's will probably only be 4710's, so we'll be stocking them also (but only on the 4K's). We will stock the 4K model that is currently up on the site, but unfortunately we more than likely won't get it in until the first week of July. We do not have pricing at this point, but will probably have pricing available later today and will likely start taking pre-orders.

I still don't get why there aren't pro reviews on the Y50 out there.. I guess they are all waiting for the 4k version first.. It should be making bigger splashes than the y510 did..

Right, but the G551 is coming months from now but yeah, I don't want to spend 1800 on a laptop but the Asus will likely be amazing. I just feel that there always a better laptop 3 months out. Also, I need to see how the weight difference feels but I'm trying to get something as light as I can that also is powerful, even if that seems counter-intuitive.

I'm honestly amazed at the price. I was expecting a lot higher especially for the 512GB SSD version. It was $1600 with student discount, so I decided to give it a go. Was going to w2ait for the GX500 but wth. Glossy screen did it for me and I'm counting on it being IPS or PLS. We shall see...

what were you expecting LOL? my estimated price for sshd model was around $1500 and I didn't think lenovo would go straight up with the ssd version

and I'll repeat again that from the model number it's a PLS panel

Wow. Surprised that the 4k model isn't Touch. Was hoping for a Touch model with Hybrid Drive (Storage > Speed for me). Might be worth it to just sell the SSD though and put in a 2TB drive.

Edit: Also uses the 3160 Wireless Card :(

Actually I'm surprised at the Lenovo price as well - if you look, they priced it the exact same as the Full HD model. The only difference is the Full HD model just had more of an instant discount. Strange that the regular price is the exact same.

initially there was $250 discount so the price was $1550, but now they changed it to $1650 with $150 discount, I kinda don't get what they are doing

How do I perform a clean install of windows 8.1? I heard that using the reset or restore feature would still contain all the bloatware. Is this true?

I don't know about the rest of Europe, but I spoke to a Lenovo rep on the UK line and he said in a meeting today they said it will launch here late summer, around late August early September :( .

So I'm thinking about shipping one over from the US, apart from the power plug are there any other differences between US and UK laptops?

What the hell lol, 57%? Notebookcheck had the y510p at 82% sRGB. That is a pretty godawful move by lenovo...

So if the panel type isn't changed for the 4k version I likely will be waiting even more...

    Hi folks,

If you're interested in ordering the 4k model 59421859, we are now taking limited pre-orders. NOTE: We expect to receive them in the first or second week of July, so you will not be the first to get one ... just wanted to put that out there. However, if you pre-order, you can cancel your order at any time for a refund prior to us shipping it to you - so if you change your mind based on the display, etc, whatever, before we get them - that's not a problem. Reminder that this is only for NBR US shipping only. For details email me (see below).

Actually can someone find the Y510 review on that same Bulgarian site and see what they list for the sRGB coverage? That would be the better comparison.

Ordered the i7-4710 version on the 8th from the Lenovo site and received it today! 4 days is that normal? The estimated date of arrival was the 19th. When it shipped I saw it came from NC. I live in Jersey.
