@heibk201
All I did is report what I see with my own eyes with my own RB 14, so are you telling me you know better than what I can see with my own eyes? Yeah right! Do you even have a RB 14?
There have been no more reports of ghosting issues at all especially with more and more people getting there laptops .
Do you know how to read?
I can't believe I'm quoting myself.
The display uses IGZO technology making it an IGZO display in my book.
You always read what you want to read and not what is a actually written, excuse me but English is my second language but forget about the RB and stick to talking about the Y50, so get out of here!
-
I do not have this problem, but I have the 7260 wireless card...are you on the 3160?
Do you still have the problem when using ethernet instead of wireless? -
I have the intel dual band wireless ac 3160 so does that mean its a 7260? I havent tried the ethernet out yet
-
1. I said exclusively that ghosting is an issue for some people. You may or may not have it, or you just don't notice it. just because you don't have the problem you can't deny other people don't either
2. there's no igzo display, igzo is just a different semiconductor. typical lcds uses silicon as semiconductors and when do we ever have "silicon displays?"
IGZO IPS is used to specifiy this variant of IPS, but there's no "igzo display."
it's fine if english is your 2nd language, but that doesn't mean we can't point out whatever you said is questionablehailgod likes this. -

I've been following that thread for months. I remember one person saying there was going issues and he eventually took it back. As a former owner, I can say I never noticed any significant ghosting.

a month and a half ago when I was following that thread I see a few people complaining about it, the same also happened with the ghost pro 3k, which made me wonder if ghosting became a common problem among high res displays
why did you return your blade? -
I had some weird coil whine that only happened when the 'a' key was pressed. Microsoft didn't have a replacement in stock so I returned it for a refund. I might get a replacement still but want to see what the 4k y50 is like and maybe the gx500 or nx500. 870m was more than I needed so I have more options than others. Screen quality is my biggest pet peeve, so we'll see what the 4k y50 has to offer me.

It's funny how you state the line "just because you don't have the same problem doesn't mean others dont". Yet, a few pages back when people were complaining about the y50 screen you seemed to insist that people were being too critical or outright saying (to me) that I *wasnt* seeing what I was seeing.
Please, think before you type and learn to not contradict yourself. Some manners would be helpful too.
Thank you

I am not sure why you are being a rude to someone who has just referred it as a 'igzo display' as he has basically explained what it is about pretty accurately. If you are going to be overly critical over anyone that points an issue with the Y50 but rather ignore any issues with the Y50, you seriously need to consider some attitude adjustment.Earlcooo likes this.
-
1. I didn't contradict myself, a few pages I'm saying this screen isn't too bad for this price. you find me a laptop with the same price and same specs and a better screen and then we can talk. if we were talking about displays actually having PROBLEMS rather than just mediocre quality, then you can call me out for contradiction
2. it's funny how you think dim=disgusting because that's one of the only few differences between those displays
please, learn to look at things without too much subjectivity, some background knowledge would be helpful too :hi2: -
You guys need to turn the bickering and chest pounding down a notch or two. Even when pointing out incorrect facts, there is a way to do that politely and respectfully. And that is how you do it here if you want to continue in this thread.

Best Buy's model (very interesting!):
Lenovo 15.6" TouchScreen Laptop Intel Core i7 8GB Memory 1TB Hard Drive LENOVO Y50 TOUCH - 59421810 - Best Buylewdvig likes this. -
1. I'm not ignoring Y50's issues, in fact I was the one that insists that this laptop will have cooling problems due to the way the heatpipes are set up and the hinge axles. That is the one problem that many seem to not acknowledge because it's more of a conditional problem.
2. Screen is not problematic the way other problems are, it's simply just you get what you paid for. I totally respect people who are saying lenovo should raise a couple bucks for a better screen, but complaining how bad the screen is while ignoring the price is pointless -
1. Pretty much any sager laptop. If portability is a big concern, the gigabyte p34g v2 is not too much more expensive and makes up for the price difference in other ways.
What makes you think people don't think of a mediocre display as a problem? How is supposed ghosting on the RB 14 any more of a problem than the Y50s bad screen? I consider it a "problem". You don't. What else is there to say?
2. again, you are arguing about how *I* decide to perceive things. Yes I thought the display shown in that exact picture was disgusting. The white was the color of mucus. Nuff said.
Everything I've said is simply my opinion, and I've never once forced people to share that opinion. will I offer it when people ask for it or state it in, say, a recommendation? Yes. But what I *wont* do is be obstinate and state "your opinion is wrong"
Its pretty sad that you have to bring up the "background knowledge" argument. I am not technologically adept, no, but none of what we have discussed has required such extensive knowledge. You're like those kids online that start hurling in real life insults when they lose an argument.
Edit: this post was typed during the mods post. I say we just end this "discussion" and get back on topic. -
That model states having the Intel ac 7260, but what does it have over the newegg base model? I see it having dragon voice software and apparently it only weighs 4.9? Don't really understand how that's possible when all the models thus far have weighed 5.3 or 5.7
I don't understand lenovos seemingly random swapping of the 3160 and 7260 in various models
-
Touch screen, for one, if people want it or think it's a better display than the base. Much lower price for touch screen as well.
-
1. gigabyte v2 is $300 more than y50 and if that's not much more expensive then there you go perfect deal for you. clevo isn't even in the weight class, that you can call me out for because I forgot to say "portability," but calling me out for contradiction when I'm just having different stands on different things is just hilarious.
2. Ghosting on RB is a problem because it's not SUPPOSED to happen. normal screens don't ghost, unless you have a FAULTY one.
y50's poor screen quality is just a reflection of price. I would never complain how crappy my $5 mouse is compared to a $50 gaming mouse.
some people can just get bad products that wouldn't pass the standard check, that's a problem and it's different from getting different quality based on different prices
3. again, I'm saying the whole matter of dim=disgusting is pretty questionable. if that's your standard, have it your way, look for brighter screens, otherwise I don't think people would usually think dim=disgusting. the reason I said background knowledge is to make some people understand better what's being compared here. when we compare displays, we are comparing color, contrast, brightness, res, ppi, etc. going out with simply "eww that's disgusting" is not anything meaningful, and here I want to bring back a point that Banender has made before, you are one of the people that have been following this thread pretty much throughout the entire way and why would you continuously complain about something that you have anticipated before? I don't see people on the razer thread complaining about temps all day long when they knew it'll be hot in the very first place.hailgod likes this. -

Yes it does, in the description:

Yeah I was looking at the BB specs page, and it didn't say 7260. Also I checked on the Lenovo site, and there is a 59421832, which I mistook for the 59421810. :confused2:
I just saw "Built-in high-speed Intel® 7260 wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n/ac)" on the main BB "features" page.

Is it trustworthy? doesn't look like that to me..How can the touch model with 7260 be that cheap?
Even the base model in newegg is the same price
-
Is it confirmed that the touch model also uses the same chi mei panel like the non touch ones?
-
Maybe BB bought in bulk from Lenovo and got a big discount so they are passing the savings to the customers I guess?
-
haha I wish
I really don't want touch but it looks much better than the anti-glare display in base model..atleast to my eyes.. -
Has anyone who get a Y50 tried to replace the 7mm harddisk with a 9.5mm harddisk(like the WD Dual Drive)?
So far I haven't seen any pic about this, but some said it might be able to. -
what is that "RAID" thing about? seems like it's a set-up for the SSD that improves its speed?
is that possible for the Y50? -
RAID is when you have 2 identical storage drives and combine them to be used as 1 for faster speeds.
RAID Made Easy | PCWorld
There are different levels and it gets a bit complicated but if you want speed just get a good SSD and it will make a world of difference.Rowoad likes this. -
How do the Y40 and Y50 compare in terms of portability?
Is the Y50 significantly bulkier/heavier in actual use?
Anyone with a feedback would be much appreciated. -
That's a pretty good price considering Lenovo hasn't put any sales for that item up yet. -
thanks, man! i thought it could help me when i receive my Y50. seems like it's not possible with y50.
-
for the online gamers out there, is it possible to have a good performance on the Y50 with a speed of 4 mbps?
-
Anybody know why when I connect external monitor to my HDMI port the FPS drops to 14. The built-in panel has 60 FPS with the same settings. I've been playing with the NVIDIA control panel to no success.
For those of you that updated to the latest NVIDIA driver...any difference? Maybe I should do the driver hack? -
Entirely depends on the game, for some it would be sufficient, for others it wouldn't I'm guessing. The latency of the connection does matter too however.
-
Yeah, it makes a compelling case for going with touch instead of 4k. This is an embarrassing question but I'm still pretty set on a full on 256gb or 512 ssd but I'm concerned over the cloning process. I'm looking for a drive that comes with necessary cables and cloning software to make the process as painless as possible. Are there any drives that meet that criteria and what price do they normally run?
-
There isn't a drive that comes with the cables but you can buy the converter yourself. I bought one nearly 10 years ago and have used it probably a hundred times. Mine is a Cables 2 Go usb 2.0 to sata converter.
-
Did you check the settings to make sure the HDMI port is set up to use the Nvidia card? Easiest way to tell what card it's using is to run GPU-Z and either run a video or drag a window in the monitor and shake it fast. Then see which GPU shows a % load.
-
I recieved a email from Lenovo lastnight saying my order (Lenovo Y50 Touch - 59421835 ) has been delayed. We anticipate shipment within 30 days of this notification. When I go to the order page it still shows a ship date 06/19/2014..... Confusing.

What's the real-life gaming performance difference between the i5-4200H and i7-4710m options?
The Y50 with 4710m is a lot more expensive where I live, so would be nice to know if it's worth it...
I know the 4710m has 4 cores, but not sure if that's necessary for a gaming laptop like this. Maybe the smaller CPU is still plenty fast match for the 860m? -
I am not experiencing this problem. I have one 27" 1080p monitor on hdmi, and three others running on displaylink adapters. Gets constant 60fps on bf4 on medium settings.
-
Thanks. In the 3D settings of the NVIDIA control center I selected "High Performance Geforce" (or something to that effect) for the selected game. I will download GPU-Z tonight and see what happens anyway.
-
The difference is very small when comparing usage scenarios and games which are only single threaded, or completely gpu limited. For example, dual core processors get largely the same fps in games like watch dogs or civilization 5. Other games, however, see huge improvements with the extra cores because the game can make use of them. A good example is the battlefield series which see massive fps increases with quad core chips.
Here is a good thread for you to read up on concerning the dual vs quad decision:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...m-review-using-sager-np7330-clevo-w230st.html -
My friend at work ordered from Best Buy 2 hours ago and just got shipping confirmation. Not sure what you bought yours for, but it's reasonably priced there.
On another note, I'll be able to calibrate his screen and give us all some real numbers on that panel. -
Thanks, much appreciated
I'm wondering if most of the multi-core games won't be GPU-limited at higher detail levels with the 860m anyway?
Your link is about the 765m, which is a bit weaker than the 860m. But if the results are comparable, then it seems like there's hardly ANY improvement to fps by using the quadcore.
In fact, one of the benchmarks show a 1-fps loss for the quad (due to heat throttling?).
Where I live, there's around $300 difference in price at the moment, so this is interesting stuff. -
If I was on a budget and that $300 meant a quad core or a big ssd, I would take the ssd...no questions asked. As you can see, in most things, the quad isn't super helpful ( I think battlefield is an exception, but it's still perfectly playable on the dual...I had a dual i5 on my w110er and it was awesome for gaming)
rupeshwar and PsylentStorm like this. -
Sounds like a smart decision to go with the dualcore then.
But I'm wondering if the extra $300 only buys the quadcore, or if there are other subtle differences, for example I'm wondering if the cheaper model might be the infamous Chinese "beggar version", with a much worse screen.
The spec sheets only tell me that both models have a 1920x1080 TN panel. -
Doubtful. Asus has done that in the past with their refurbs, but Lenovo has never done that to my knowledge. With reports of the screen already being TN and not the greatest, it's probably hard to go any cheaper.Sandbag likes this.

Oh man! I may order from best buy. That price and the chance of getting a 7260, how could I pass that up? Although, anyone think the rumors of the big box stores like best buy getting lower quality models so they can sell at a lower price carries any truth?
