there, fixed it for you

You gotta admit though, you didnt expect it as well the first time it got announced. I really feel that this isnt the real price yet.
Can anyone confirm what the opening price of the y410p was when it was released and how long it took before it was brought down to $800? -
hehe, my bad.
I just had a quick chat with Lenovo rep. They said they will launch the Y50 in the mid of May and they will update the Y50 page, most probably tomorrow. -

Maybe you are right. But we still don't know for sure. -
What is the USD conversion for that?
-
-
Not bad for 4K, touch, and GTX 860M. Comparatively.
-
Well, that's not overpriced as I expected but if the 1080p will have only TN screen, it'll be shame in my eyes. I want IPS 1080p, touchscreen and 860m...
-
I'm hoping Lenovo makes it an easy decision once they lift the veil on this thing... But I'm open to other suggestions if the Y50 disappoints, I just haven't found anything else comparable in a similar price range with the features I'm looking for. I've flirted with the idea of the MSI GS60, but I've been reading that it has trackpad problems of its own amongst other things, and of course its price is higher than I'd like to go.
-
I have a feeling this 1800$ price tag will be lowered with Lenovo's "discounts".
-
Nice to see you back on the thread Jobine. I agree, Lenovo will probably do an immediate "sale" like the Y40 is on.
-
While the true conversion is that , you should note that things in europe are usually priced on a 1 on 1 ratio.
Meaning 1000$ laptop in us ends up being arround 1000 @ retailers in europe....usually -
Jobine! Do you know how much was the opening price of the y410p?
-
From this page https://www.digitec.ch/?param=toppreise&wert=302545 it looks like it has 4GB of video memory, and Intel AC 7260.
The 4 cell, 54Wh battery looks a bit tiny, I hope there is an option for a larger battery. -
With the U series processor and new 800 series GPU, power consumption shouldn't be a huge issue.
-
Sorry, I should've mentioned that page is for the Y50 with i7-4702
-
Not that's official but Lenovo CS just told me the Y50 specs go up next week and the machine goes on sale at the end of the month.
-
Looks like we wont see anymore price drops for the y40.

The Y40 uses the 3160. I wonder why they went with a different wireless card on the y40. -
Why would there be one? It's already on "sale."
-
I dunno, maybe they're just baiting out excited ones to buy it on a higher than regular price?
-
I've heard a lot of mention about swapping out hard drives and ram on the lenovo notebooks, so I was wondering how easy it is to do this.
is it as easy as just opening the bottom, unplugging the old drive, and plugging in the new one? or is there soldering involved?
what do I have to look for in Disk types so that they will fit?
will i have to completely reinstall the OS, or will copying the files from one disk to the other run fine without errors?
lastly, what will that do to warranty and accidental damage protection? I'm guessing the moment I open the comp up, those are out the window, right?
thanks -
It's strange they released the Y40 today with no news about the Y50... I tried to find out what was giong on with online chat but they gave me nothing. Just said the Y50 will be out soon.
-
Only 2 models out of 4 are on sale with a 200$/300$ "discount"
The other 2 are full price for the moment(the base model with 1 TB HDD and the more expensive one with 512GB)
If the last 2 will be discounted with the same amount(and they probably will) the base model with 1 TB HDD will end up @ 950$/850$

Turn off the computer, and unplug the power. Through pictures, you'll probably have to remove the back of the y40/y50 to access the hard drive. There is no soldering. The interface is SATA 3. Find other 2.5" sata drives to replace the old one. 3.5" drives are for desktops and will definitely not fit.
You will have to reinstall the OS. If you have a drive cloning software, you can clone the old drive to the new one, granted you have enough storage on the new drive. As for warranty, I have a feeling that lenovo wont be happy removing the whole back cover.krzysiekhusarz likes this. -
anyone know why the y50 with touch adds a pound? Also, I wonder if the 4k screen will be available in nontouch?
-
Thanks. I think I may have figured out how to get around the y50 having only one hard disk

You may also have to check on hdd thickness. The black^2 is a tad bit thicker than normal laptop hard drives. -
Wow...that's a nice find.
I wasn't aware something like this existed. -
Thank you JINX! I didnt see the other 2 werent on sale. Judging that the 2 on sale were $200 off, we could probably see a $900 for the 1tb HDD model. After all, the HDD model should be cheaper than the SSD one.. Gives me hope!
-
Great Find. I hope 128 GB will be enough for the OS and whatever wants to live in that partition... I'd love to see some Amazon reviews by verified purchasers...
-
So overpriced and underspecced...
Flop. I'm calling it.
Moving on. -
Could you still call it overpriced if the base model(1tb hdd) ends up @850$ after discount?
-
Yes because the specs suck.
-
Well...it's your opinion and you're entitled to it... but personally I can't find a better 14" option for the price.
-
Thank you for adding value to this thread...
-
I heard about these at the Micro Center near me- they are really useful! I never got around to checking it out- thanks for the link!
-
If they ever sell it for 850.
-
You're always welcome. Anytime.
-
I agree. People think the Y40 is a rip-off, but its a great deal.
-
Nice find! Thanks for the conversion
--EDIT--
lol water broke warranty
sorry had to say it -
What makes you think that the specs are bad? They really aren't in my opinion.
-
So unfair, the y50 gets to have an i7 4700hq
-
They are for the price when you can easily find a thin-and-light with a real quad-core i7 and GTX 860M Maxwell for a grand or less.Dberner likes this.

Your welcome I update my post again  check the specs

I'm the last guy to care about how a PC looks but those stock chassis always look terrible and cheap. I'd love to know if they really are tougher than they look because I love saving money but many of the closeups show uneven plastic molding that looks poorly joined.

Here the link guys here its Chinese website make sure translate it
