Oh neat, I use gmail and didn't know hotmail could do that.
And boo about the temps, my laptops don't get enough airflow as they should as it is, but as long as it's manageable it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'd have much much preferred a cooler system to an subwoofer I'm probably going to try and disable or something anyway, but different strokes etc.

    Finally someone posted pics, thanks!

Subwoofer won't contribute to heat I don't think. Flat surfaces are the way to go for best cooling/air flow.

If it really runs hot, I bet some modders will find a way to put a fan in the woofers place

I will probably get mine Monday, as I live in PA and ordered from Klick. I can give you guys some compare/contrast between Y510p, which I have seen, and the Y50. Seeing that no one has done so yet, I might go for that 100k hit YouTube review... ;)

Yep, I ordered about 5pm on the 22nd but still no ship date through the order tracking. However, they all came back with the same ship date independently.

I don't understand how people compare the xps 15 to this. 750m vs 860m is simply far too big of a difference. Hell the y510p houses DUAL 755ms for about a third of the xps 15 price. For people that want the laptop to last for a couple years and play the new games that come out, 750m will NOT match up. For the price of an xps 15, I don't understand why people don't just get the razor blade 2014, which is the "premium" priced gaming laptop these days that actually has a graphics card that is up to date (870m) as well as UHD+

Yeah the XPS really isn't in the same class as the y50 even with a weaker screen, 750m vs 860m is really no comparison.

For some people GPU performance isn't the most important feature of a laptop.

Actually, the Y50 is not in the same class as the XPS 15. The only thing it has going for it is the GPU, but everything else from build quality to screen to customer support is better with the XPS 15, but it is also at least $500 more. The best comparison the XPS 15 can be made to is the windows Macbook Pro Retina. You'll never find a latest gen gaming GPU in it.

For most people the GPU is irrelevant. Only gamers and people who need workstations care about that.

This may sound like a dumb question, but where can I get on this Klick website everyone seems to be ordering from. I searched on Google and can't find anything...

Forgive me, but I am scratching my head at this. Yes, that is true, but then why are you even looking at this laptop in the first place? This is advertised as primarily a gaming laptop, and the specs reflect that. If you are not looking for GPU performance, why not go business class with better build quality? Or get an apple computer which (from what ive heard) have great build quality.

The GPU is by far the most important piece if your looking for gaming, and if your not, I seriously fail to see why even have this laptop on your radar then

I tried finding the amazon one but I just checked and for some reason I can only find y50s from lenovo themselves on there?

EDIT: Google takes me here - http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Y50-Laptop-Computer-Generation/dp/B00K71W5SC through the link that used to take me to Klick.

How much would switching from hybrid to ssd affect internal temps?

And the IC Diamond thermal paste?

Are these two things literally the only thing that can be done to help with temps?

What about adding extra copper (another thing XoticPC offers)?

What is the most you could hope to impact temperatures?

I don't know about switching to SSD or copper, but IC Diamond is said to get it down a good couple/few degrees generally
Innovation Cooling 7 Carat Diamond TIM Test results thread *NOW ACCEPTING RESULTS!!* - Hardware Canucks
This is a results thread for everybody to compare IC Diamond thermal paste temps with other pastes.
One of the bigger things you can do for cooling is just to make sure it has a lot of airflow. All the hardware mods in the world wont help if you shove it on top of a quilt for a few hours.

Edit: Just been looking around at the diamond paste and there are a good few complaints about it sometimes damaging internals (I assume because if the diamond isn't fine enough it'd be insanely abrasive, what with it being diamond), and while I honestly don't know enough about that topic to lend the complaints legitimacy it'd be something I'd check on first if you were considering using it for a new laptop.

I received my unit today. It's the base model (59416755) that I purchased for $1050 after their "Corporate perks/Executive Offer" (someone from this thread mentioned it many posts ago). Please note that I took these pictures using my smartphone.

It came in an extremely spartan box. All it contained was the laptop, power brick/power cable, and simple instruction manuals.

LOL. PSXQ8, you were temporarily banned. Yes, of course it's you.

Simply put; you can't start a new account. It's against forum rules to have multiple accounts.

Please, read the forum rules: http://forum.notebookreview.com/site-suggestions-help-announcements/109941-forum-rules.html

Generally, violating this forum rule leads to a permanent ban from the forum. But since you're an overexcited newbie with English comprehension difficulties whose pride was hurt from being banned for trolling, I'm going to cut you slack and just permaban this new account of yours. Please wait until the ban on your "PSXQ8" account is automatically lifted in 2 days before returning to the forum. In fact, take an interest in another area of the forum when you come back. You're embarrassing yourself by obsessively trolling this thread.

    Good lookin' machine. :)

EDIT: great set of pics! I put them in a spoiler tag since so many hi res photos can wreak havoc on the thread given its activity level. Leads to accidental double posts, slow loads on some machines, and of course... sensory overload for those viewing so many gorgeous pics at once. ;)

Great pics!!!!!!!! Finally. I got a general question about the screens. Do you guys think since the touch screen model is a glossy TN panel as compared to the regular matte TN, will it make for a more better more vibrant display?

I have no interest in the touch screen, but if the glossy touch display is more vibrant than the non touch one than I might opt for it.

I took a few more pictures of the screen - this time with an actual non-smartphone camera. It's night here though, so I added keyboard shots as well.

For some people 750m is enough. If you want to game hard on high/ultra than that's not a laptop for you. If you are a casual gamer but need something professional for office use and something that is portable you go for XPS. As per your point of why not razer, I have gotten my for 1k less then razer, so it's 1k for 750m vs 870m, -8gb RAM (concern for some), lower battery life, larger screen (+ for office use for instance - and preferred by some) and, most importantly for me, the warranty. Next business day is perfect if you need your laptop as opposed to sending it back to razer (especially if you live abroad). There is no perfect laptop, it's all about people's preferences and tradeoffs they are willing to take.

And Y510p is the same thing. The battery life, weight, size, esthetics (though still nice) are dragging it down for that use case. I had Alienware that can pulverize this Lenovo in terms of sheer power, but the portability was awful and I couldn't use it anywhere but home. So I wanted something more portable and professional that was still able to game decently - XPS. I still like Y50, but the battery life and screen spoiled me - so I am waiting for more reviews.

Its still blank... However, I've been asking all week and all they would say is ships in 3 weeks, but when I asked today 3 different reps all gave me the date 6/6. So I think they finally got their act together and figured out a shipping date

What other laptop with slim form factor, full-power i7, current gen GPU, 1080p screen, etc. costs less? That's why it's on people's radar. It's a great bang for the buck. Most other slim laptops have U CPUs and/or 1366x768 screens, or cost $1500+.

I read your comment as not only agreeing with my statement, but basically making my statement more strongly than I did. Were you intending to refute what I said?
