Another PSA: EMAIL4YOGA2PRO is coupon code for i7, 256gb, 8gb version of Y2P. It will knock $300 off the price on the lenova website. It drops from $1499 to $1199. This makes it equivalent to what best buy was selling not too long ago.

For anyone else considering privacy screens for your Y2P:
I have experience with using these on several different machines in the past, all which had a raised bezel of non-glass/screen material upon which to affix the plastic stickers that act as a frame/holder for the privacy filter. After a little bit of perplexion, I found that the Y2P doesn't need those stickies at all * -- just put the filter against the screen and rub a little bit somewhere on the screen to get it to connect, and it stays very reliably all on its own; practically perfect. And touch screen action is not diminished. It isn't like applying a screen protector to your phone, where you carefully push out all the bubbles for a perfectly smooth finish; the filter will press well against the whole screen, but if you focus your eyes on it you can see the "bubbles" or sections where filter and screen are connected. This is not really a problem when your goal is privacy; it works excellently for that, and just pull it off when you don't need the privacy.
So, given that the filter will just stick to the screen and the Y2P has a sizable (continuous glass) bezel, you could go with any one of several different sizes, and it would fulfill the mission to cover and filter your screen.
Wherever you decide to buy/order your privacy filter from, look very carefully at the exact dimensions they provide, and measure that against your screen, decide whether you want your filter a bit taller or wider or what.
For myself, I chose this one: 3M Gold Privacy Filter for 14.0 Inch Widescreen Laptop (GPF14.0W)
*Please note this was my experience with the particular brand/version I purchased. I would think that other brands or models of privacy filter would behave similarly if not the same, but they again they could be made of different material that would not have the same magnetic-adhesion quality with the Y2P's particular screen. -
I'm not so sure gorilla glass would be any better with smudges. The only way to prevent smudges would be an oleophobic coating, like apple uses on their touch screens. It wears off after about a month any way..

I'm having an issue with the trackpad on my Yoga 2 pro. I have had the machine for a couple of days and occasionally when I open the machine (into laptop mode) and resume from sleep the trackpad does not function (the cursor doesn't show either). When this happens I also noticed that the synaptics software icon doesn't appear in the task bar tray.
Usually restarting the machine fixes the problem but one time it took 5 or 6 restarts for it to start working again.
Has anyone else seen this, or have a solution?
Thanks
P.S. I have tried installing the new synaptics drivers from the Yoga 1. -
Try hitting fn+6..it's supposed to turn off when you go into those modes and maybe it isn't turning back on..of course if you are using the software from Synaptics site that's a whole different story -
fn+6 doesn't help, it's like the machine doesn't know the trackpad is there as the synaptics icon doesn't even show up in the task bar tray.
As well this problem occurs when resuming from sleep (closed lid) into laptop mode. I never have a problem going from one mode to another.
as well I'm using the synaptics drive from Lenovo, the trackpad turns off/on as it should when going from one mode to another. As I said the problem is when waking from sleep. -

(Shipping on 11/21, to be delivered 12/2)
Also, lenovo.com's order cancelation is weird- they have to request a cancellation, and it's not guaranteed. I suspect Lenovo.com is actually US distributor, a separate company, an exclusive distributor of Lenovo products - but that's just a hunch. -
I'm guessing you did the orange one, the silver one has an estimated ship date of 11/6
-
a quick update. i called lenovo today for an update and was told the part that was needed came in 10/31. so they have a batch of order go out this coming weeks, finger cross if your order are in those batch.
-
So thanks for that coupon (EMAIL4YOGA2PRO)! I talked with Lenovo support today (11/01) and they canceled my order for the orange (59394167) and placed the order for the silver (59394180) and I was typing to chat on my phone so I gave them the coupon and asked him to transfer all of my info from the previous order over to the new one so I didn't have to type it again. So he took a few minutes and just told me the order just went through. Right then the Wi-Fi crapped out so I didn't get to see if he had anything else to say. I checked the email with the confirmation and the price is listed as $1099 with expected ship of 11/06!

I've never wanted anything orange before in my life, I don't know why I'm so hung up on it now... I guess cuz I've had a silver HP craptop for the last couple of years, and I just want to light it on fire - having another silver one feels like tainting the new machine right out of the gate.
-
I'm having problems as well. My issue is that I tried to install Dragon Assistant from the installer and once it was done "installing" I could no longer find the program anywhere on my machine. I can only find any trace of the installer when I go to control panel/add remove program. I've mentioned this on the Lenovo community forum as well with no resolution.

Comment on battery life, last night I watched 2 hours of Netflix last night (1080p streaming) at half brightness and got down to 80%. Not bad at all. I was using my own power plan (passive cooling, max processor power 80%, wireless savings at minimum) without EM color fix, as the yellow issue doesn't affect pictures and movies.
I have noticed under heavy loads like gaming battery life tends to suffer and usually doesn't meet my expectations. But if you stick to ie metro and win8 apps this thing gets just as good battery life as any other win8 ultrabook. -
For a non-gamer, is there likely to be any noticeable difference between the i5 and i7 models?

Has anybody here been using a stylus or digital pen with their Y2P with good results? I'd like something that could replicate right/left mouse clicks with touch-only controls. Any suggestions? -

For those purchasing 2-year warranties from Lenovo - doesn't the credit card already double the one-year warranty? Is Lenovo giving you 2 years beyond the 2 years you already have?

Any idea if these units that are about to ship from Lenovo will have any fixes for the wifi and yellow issues?
I have a unit from BB I picked up earlier this week, the wifi and yellow issues are both terrible. -

This probably sounds really stupid, but I'm completely new to Windows 8/8.1 and not sure how to sort this out...
I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro today, and it does not seem to find any wifi connection?! It keeps saying "no connection available" and simply does not show any wifi networks (there should be more than one showing, as I'm in the middle of a city, and there is none, not even my own wifi network).
Is there a mechanic and/or keyboard wifi switch you need to turn on to enable wifi? Or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what I should be looking out for?
Thanks for your help! -

Are you able to download it via another device and transfer via USB?
This should be the latest drivers:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/De...loadType= Software Applications
Have you checked Device Manager? tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver?
I know you probably have, but I have no idea what you've tried. What do you see when click the WiFi icon in the task bar. Can you turn WiFi On and Off? Is Airplane mode off?
You can try this:
Click Windows Key+R , type ncpa.cpl and click OK, right click wireless connection and click Diagnose.
Let me know your results. -
It works now, yeah!
I tried all you said, simply nothing. But the icon just showed up after while, now it works just fine. It's faster than on my other laptop I think (three and a half year old Vaio Z5), so apart from slight problems at the start, no wifi issues at all. I'll let you know how it works in other places.
But having a lot of trouble trying to adjust to Win 8.1...
Does anyone know how to switch off this auto correct function when typing? It's driving me crazy. -
I got my Y2P two days ago and so far loving it. I have yet to encounter any problems with wifi or anything. Only thing is trying to adjust to windows 8. But I have one question, what power option settings should I put my laptop on so I can get the best battery life possible? Thanks for the help.

Hi all,
I have a Yoga 2 Pro i7/8 GB RAM/ 512 SSD. I ordered if from Lenovo and got it last week with the SCOUTS discount.
The machine is nice and I love how quiet/silent and fast it is. Windows 8.1 has been a challenge but I'm slowly customizing the machine to look and work the way I want. I've had a handful of software issues but overall am happy with the machine.
My question was in regards to updating drivers. I know all the updates are located at: Drivers and software - Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro
My question is, what is the best practice when updating drivers? Is it a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" type of thing? The only update I've done so for was for the wireless card. I wasn't sure if I should go ahead and update everything that is currently available. Also, is there an easy way to know what drivers you've already updated? I'm waiting on the updates for the yellow color fix as well as the screen flickering fix.
Thanks for reading. Any advice would be greatly appreciatedferrydust likes this. -

Otherwise look for micro HDMI to DVI/VGA... Or, use WiDi. Maybe someone else can share a link to a good WiDi receiver? I'm looking for one also -
After all of the complaints that I have read I have been trying real hard to find a reason to take this machine back. You see, I'd like to get my money back but, so far this thing does everything that I needed a travel PC to do. It plays music and movies. It does routine tasks, has connectivity AND it doesn't weigh as much as any of my T machines or my W530. So far, for what I need for the thing to do when I need to grab something and go, it works and has right out of the box. No excessive fan noise. No modem problems ...
No, I haven't gone looking for things that won't turn perfect yellow and no, because humans made it, it is not perfect. I don't care much about that when my back is aching from dragging a brick through the airport. :thumbsup:Led Zappa, gadgetrants, Jeff44 and 1 other person like this. -
I am not a windows 8 guy yet though and using my hp mini mouse with the desktop mode and happy as a clam....I haven't had any real problems yet and not noticed the yellow thing because I am just browsing and doing business stuff....
I cant see spending 800 bucks more for the Samsung B9+....no way.....
Recommended to buy...Led Zappa likes this. -

I'm using the Microsoft "Sculpt" Bluetooth mouse. Works very nicely. Be sure to upgrade to the latest (~Oct 16th) Bluetooth drivers for the Yoga 2
$30 from Amazon
Amazon.com: Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (H3S-00003): Electronics
I have the blue Windows touch area under your thumb on the mouse set to do "browser back" and "windows explorer back" which works very nicely. Bluetooth connection is completely stable for me with the Bluetooth driver update and this leaves the 2 USB ports free for other stuff (vs Logitech micro-transmitters)

I like several other folks on the boards have noticed that the micro-HDMI socket on the Yoga 2 Pro is recessed very far into the case with no "cut out" on the left vertical edge. Seems to lead to difficulties getting connectors to plug in properly and stay connected.
Because of that I would recommend this short micro-HDMI to regular size HDMI adapter. It's about 6" long and so will also act as a strain relief to isolate movement on the HDMI cable to your TV/Monitor from disconnecting the signal from the Y2P.
Try this, <$6 at Amazon
Amazon.com: Monoprice 6inch 34AWG High Speed HDMI Cable With Ethernet - HDMI Micro Connector male to HDMI Connector female - Black: Computers & Accessories
Then you can use ANY regular HDMI to HDMI cable to your TV / Monitor

Can someone run the "Windows Experience Index" test on a i7 Yoga 2 Pro? I'm still planning on buying one, THANKS

I don't believe 8.1 has the WEI. I looked briefly and it is not in the same area as it was before, and read a article about it being dropped in 8.1. I think it is gone now.
