agree with this. digitizer would make yoga just great.
and just to say why - i am also old school pen and paper user, but recently i found power of One Note. that is just fantastic note-taking app.
Idea to have all notes in one place, searchable, sharable and ever editable is just too much of a breakthrough to oldschool note-taking it cannot be dismissed.
like ii said previously i intend to use yoga pro for this purpose and having wacom digitizer instead of looking for solution to what stylus, what protector and what palm-rejector to get would have been answered.
i am 100% sure that next gen yoga WILL be equipped with digitizer but like all of you I just cannot wait anymore cuz i am too excited to get my hands on this fabulous convertible.

    Hi everybody :hi2: !

A question to Yoga 2 Pro owners .
I want to buy the yoga 2 pro but there is one thing that Idon't know .
For me , the more important thing on a laptop is the screen .
Firts, the yellow issue is not a problem for me .
So , I know the yoga 2 pro is a pentile display.
I have test the galaxy note 10.1 (2014 edition) wich uses a pentile display and I must say that this is an equivalent to a 1600*900 résolution.
So the yoga 2 pro has less pixel than a true 3200*1800 RGB display so the yoga display is equivalent to :
    a 1920*1080 display (like vaio duo 13) or a 2560*1600 (like the macbookpro ) or less ?
Although , I hate apple , for me the best 13.3 screen to date is the display of the MBP retina 13.

Thanks for your anwsers. ! :)

I went and looked at all the screens that were available at BB and compared them to the Y2PRO. This is subjective, but to me, I thought that the screen on the Y2PRO rendered details much better than all the other screens, including the FHD screens, specialy the text. The MBP did look nice too. Just go to the store and compare them if you want. Even after lowering the Y2PRO resolution to 1920x1080, it still beat the other screens! I have very good close vision, so that helps(Some people can't notice the difference between screens though). The screen on the YOGA is what made me fall in love with it, since like I have said before, there's nothing out there currently that you can get for this price and have such an amazing screen. Add the I7 256/8GB to that statement, and it's a no brainer.

First , thanks for your response !
I live in France , so for the moment I can't test the yoga's screen.
When I see the xperia z tablet beats the galaxy note 10.1 (2014 edition) in terms of screen quality , I am a little afraid to take pentile screen.
So you think that the yoga 2 pro beats the MBP retina in details specialy the text.
    sorry for my english :(

I think that it does because it's got more pixels! More pixels > less pixels. Not only that, you can use the Y2PRO on stand mode on your lap, which is great! Then you got the Touchscreen which is beautiful and responsive! If you need more computing power, I think that the MBP is better, but I only use it for web browsing, media consumption, word documents, and other mundane stuff which the Y2PRO handles with ease. Your English is fine!

Is QHD really better than FHD for a 13" screen? The icons are too small in QHD and I heard people use it at a lower resolution to be able to work on it. Now as per my understanding when you run a display on a non-native resolution (in this case running QHD at FHD) the display is even worse then a native FHD screen. I read somewhere that QHD is useless for screen size below 27" because text is too small to see. Is this correct?

QHD > FHD, even after lowering the resolution to 1920x1080, which I noticed that it DID NOT affect anything. Trust me, I used to think the same way, until I went to BB to prove this to myself. It's as simple as that. I did run my Y2PRO at 1920x1080, so that I could use all of my third party applications with no issues. I'm assuming that it's because even after you lower the resolution, it still looks much better than a FHD screen because of the higher pixel count on the QHD.

The point is, you have it if you need it, and it's no big deal to change resolutions for working on older software that does not (YET) comply with QHD screens. As more of these screens come out, more software will be adjusted to take advantage of it.

Agreed, but I would still get an QHD screen, which blows all the other lower resolution screens right our of the water.

Anybody use a remote desktop connection with this laptop? I can get the RDP to work just fine, but due to the laptop's resolution all the icons on my RDP session are super small and not really usable. If I chnage the resolution on the RDP session it simply makes the window smaller but it still has really small icons.

Anybody figured out a fix for this?

    Thanks

Try this - in Word > File > Options > Quick Access Tool Bar >
In the "Choose Commands from:" drop down box select " All Commands" > Scroll down and click in "Ink" > Click Add.

This should add it to your Quick Access Bar so you can access it quickly. I also added "Ink Color" and "Eraser" to the bar.

If you don't want it in your QA Bar, you can add it to the regular ribbon instead.

I use the Musemee Notier V2 to take notes in OneNote. I do occasionally have problems with palm rejection but if I put the pen down first then my palm it works pretty well. Link to pen on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CA65AR0/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Response from online chat re: shipping dates -

The Yoga 2 models are delayed because of the huge number of orders we received for that model. I have news that the estimated shipping dates are not accurate. We will have more information about the model's shipping dates on Monday Nov 11. There are currently 1,500 machines being shipped to the US from our manufacturing plant. We are awaiting that shipment.

Guys is anyone having light bleed issues? My Y2P has no light bleed but it did have a small nick on the back right out of the box. Was thinking of exchanging it but don't want to risk getting a bleeder instead. I hate returning or exchanging things at BestBuy. They always make you feel like you are doing something illegal with the whole ID checking and their general attitude.

Speaking of nicks, dents and scratches, Skinomi is now selling their carbon fiber skin for the Y2P. Has anyone tried it? What do you think? Looks like it would be gorgeous on this.

Came to the Y2P from a Surface Pro which has very high pixel density due to its small screen. Have to say the Y2P screen blows the SP away. The added real estate is also a bonus.

Yes a digitizer would have truly made this the perfect hybrid, but then again, there seem to be some quality aftermarket options like the Adonit Touch and Adonit Script. Not sure how well those work in OneNote but they look promising.

Speaking of that, do the new Adonit pens mentioned above work in OneNote?

I got one from Decalrus via Amazon (different options on Amazon than on their website). It was more expensive than Skinomi however I wanted something that would keep the trackpad from getting rubbed smooth and also protect the bottom of the unit. I love that their skin covers the base around the keyboard. I did not put on the one that goes on the screen. I also like that the decalrus one has 4 pieces versus the Skinomi that just covers the lid and includes a screen protector. It went on very smoothly and no bubbles at all.

Here is the one I got: Amazon.com: Decalrus - Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro "PRO" with 13.3" Touchscreen FULL BODY BLUE Texture Brushed Aluminum skin skins decal for case cover wrap BAYoga2ProFBBlue: Computers & Accessories

I'm going to stop arguing with idiots on other sites that think the Y2PRO is garbage and overpriced. Probably a bunch of mommy's boys living in her basement. You guys here have more common sense. Y2Pro overpriced with the specs that you get? I guess they just crawled from underneath a rock. Some actually think that the Sony flip is better in design and screen. Please, I played with that overpriced laptop with a crappy designed hinge. It just felt weird in your hands.

Supposedly the Adonit palm rejection features only work in iOS. For $17-$18 the Musemee Notier V2 works quite well in OneNote on my Y2P. Lack of palm rejection is my only complaint. Need to practice more to keep my palm/wrist off the screen but it writes very smoothly and converts to text very well.

I think mstsc is going to have to wait for a patch from MS, but Remote Desktop Connection Manager does scale properly so I'm using that for now. Haven't tried any other clients.

Anyone know how to invert the F keys so they do what they're supposed to without me hitting Fn?

I suspect many of the critics that bother to spend time on a Y2P forum are either trolls or even reps for other brands. I have had nightmare hardware problems with my Dell laptop (which is being replaced by the Y2P) but I sure don't have time to surf the 'net for Dell forums and spend time trashing their products if I'm not going to buy another one.

I do not have a screen protector. I have been watching very closely for microscratches and haven't noticed a single one. I don't press hard (don't need to, it flows smoothly).

Probably they're happy to hear this. Still not (quite) as bad as Radio Shack used to be, where you needed to provide your dog's maiden name to return a ten-cent item.

Oh so the Skinomi covers only the lid and not the back too? That's lame.

Can you post some pics please ? :)

Question, does the skin have texture or is it just a flat picture of brushed metal? I want to get the carbon fiber one but want it to have quality texture like the Skinomi. I am really a bit surprised Skinomi only covers the lid. They typically got for full coverage. As a matter of fact their Amazon Ad says "full body coverage".?

Hey guys, I've been having a bit of an issue with my keyboard typing double letters. Anyone else having this? For instance, I'll get thhis instead of this occasionally.

Cool. I have one. Works well. Make sure you order the two finger one. They have one that just covers your pinky and it isn't enough IMHO.

I think keyboards are so hard to rate because they are so subjective. I personally really like the Y2P keyboard and can type very fast on it (80-90 wpm). Others don't like it so much. I really like the dedicated home/end/page up/page down buttons and the function keys with the assigned roles (volume, refresh, brightness, etc). Others don't. If you can get to a store with a demo to test out the keyboard I'd highly suggest it.

Re dust, I don't have a problem with it at all but I do clean the screen and keyboard area at least a couple times per week. That will probably stop once it stops being my "new baby". For now it gets spoiled!

The one I got from DecalRUs does have texture much like the Skinomi. I have the black carbon fiber one for my old HP Touchpad (fire sale sucker) and it has just as much texture. I really like it. I'll try to get some photos tonight. I was looking for full body coverage from the Skinomi but read one site (I don't recall which one) that the skinomi was just a lid protector and a screen protector. It might have been a particular model that person ordered (they weren't specifically commenting on the Y2P skin).

Tip: Before applying any skin over the bottom of your unit make sure to take a picture of the label as the skins cover the labels.

I just tried and got 109wpm and the quickest I can do on a proper kb is around 130. I find the spacing between the keys to be a little funky, closer than I'm used to. I've only had this 2 days and I'm sure in another week it'll be fine. I don't have any complaints about the keyboard hardware but I want my F keys back! (they're lenovo things by default, ie volume/brightness and you have to hit Fn to use F2).

I am amazed at how quickly this laptop recharges. Even watching Netflix it recharged to 100% in no time. Also decent length power cord. Thank you Lenovo!

I think I read somewhere you can change the F keys back in the BIOS. Not sure. I think you just disable "Action Key Mode" or something like that.

    Ok, found it :)

    1) Turn off your Y2P.
    2) Boot into BIOS by clicking the tiny little button next to the power button (it is very small and may require using your fingernail).
    3) In BIOS Settings under Configuration disable "Hotkey Mode" and you will have your Function Keys back as default.

Here are photos of the DecalRUs skin (Blue Carbon Fiber) I installed. I could have done a little better job of lining things up but it is pretty close and I'm happy with it. Wish I would have removed the labels on the keyboard deck before applying the skin. Not as noticeable in person as it is in the picture.

Well, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound insulting.

Huh, so they don't have a cutout for the Lenovo Logo? I think Skinomi does cutouts. I'm surprised just the stickers make it raise up so much.

No there is no cut out for the logo. I don't know if Skinomi does or not. I wish they had better pictures of their product. I don't really notice the stickers in person so I was surprised they show up so much in the photo but I do wish I had removed them first. I love the trackpad protector. Although slightly textured it is very smooth and my fingers move across it very easily. I think it is less likely to be sticky in hot humid weather (which we don't get in Colorado very often).

Yeah I can't find any pics of the Skinomi either. I'll call them tomorrow and ask.

Is the skin easily removable? I wouldn't want to put anything that is permanent on the laptop.
