I think the display looks very sharp. Minecraft won't run properly on anything but native resolution. Anyone else have the same problem? Also, wifi is a little slow. I think I found something about upload and download speeds when I did control, alt, delete and clicked on the bottom option (forget what it is called) and I was only getting about 100 kbps upload and download...that is TERRIBLE if true. I think I might get a USB wifi card and new router to get dual band easily with the usb card rather than replacing the card. I might be getting bad speeds because my laptop is far from my router- a whole floor above and the rotuer is old and doesn't have far reach. Another thing, I thought on the i7 version you could get up to 3.1ghz...but under device information it says i7 1.8ghz 2.4ghz. Might lenovo have undervolted and reduced its proccessing ability? I just really want to play minecraft on the best settings haha so anything to get a boost. McAfee appears to take up 70% of the battery...and 23% of CPU usage. I think I will delete it and turn on windows defender. Should I uninstall it on the start page (where the apps are) first and then download mcafee uninstall software? I have heard of problems not being able to uninstall it easily. Also, if someone could help with that color profile I'd be happy. Lastly, I downloaded the new software from lenovo's website (bios and energy manager) but it still says I have the old energy manager and as for BIOS, I have no clue. The novo button is where? The little one next to the power button? Any reason why it didn't update or if I have to save it in a special place? Doesn't lenovo have a check for software updates option to automatically download and install the software? Sorry for all the questions but I am just super confused with windows 8 and problems that come with it...Thank you guys. I appreciate it :)

As for chrome, I just went into the three line area and clicked on run in desktop. It looks fine then. I turned zoom to 100-150 and it looks fine. What does your other way help with? May I ask where I disable HDPI in there? And I would find a dev version of chrome to help with the super high res screen?

Any windows 8 tips? I am having trouble with all the settings...settings here...settings there...isn't there just an all-in-one settings area -_-

Haha thank you. I agree. Especially since chrome runs fine when you switch the setting to run in desktop. Differences? By the way, any way to automatically make the virtual keyboard pop up in tablet mode when you click on a text box?

When I first installed Chrome on my Y2P last month the fonts, tabs and overall scaling was wacky due to the high resolution of the screen. I saw on the net where some folks had enabled the HiDPI setting to help the issue. (chrome://flags/ -> HiDPI Support Windows -> enabled). However when I enabled this it didn't fully resolve the issues (such as tab size). I then found the "dev" version of chrome (which is where they test all of the future changes that will make it into the "release" version) looked "ok" on the screen so I stated using that instead. However, I found I had to first set the HiDPI setting back to default before installing the Dev version otherwise the chrome window didn't display correctly.

If the standard "release" version of chrome is working for you than you can ignore my post.

    Cheers

Oh, great. I just did it and it looks MUCH better. Thanks. One followup question. When I did that, it made it so the taskbar shows when I am in Chrome, whereas it didn't before I changed to this new Chrome. I am not saying I dislike it, but when it tablet mode, it would be nice to have there be no taskbar, so I don't click things back accident. Any ideas on how to fix that?

EDIT: ok, I did some searching, and it appears that I just needed to click a button to launch in WIn8 mode. However, this button does not appear when i click the settings thing in chrome. i am going to try to figure out how to fix that, but if anyone knows, then that information would be appreciated!

The Intel 4500u is rated up to 3.0ghz but using only one core. If whatever application(s) you're using take advantage of multiple cores/threads the max will be 2.76 I believe. I've only seen mine hit 2.96-3 once before in Excel I think. I'm pretty sure Minecraft (Java) is multi-threaded enough to take advantage of multiple threads at ~2.76 compared to a single thread closer to 3.0.

Go to Control Panel --> Color (Color Management) and add the profile for your display. Make sure it's set as default.

If the settings do not stick (normally that's an issue with Windows 7). Use the instructions in the link I included to change the settings.

Alternatively, double-click on the ICC color profile and that should do the same, just verify it via the Color Management tool.

P.S. Note that my profile was created using the proper luminance values for a laptop display, which (in the case of my computer), coincided with a 70% display brightness setting.

Click on the customize and control google chrome buttom at the top right (the triple line), go 6 down and it will say "relaunch in windows8 mode" or "relaunch in desktop mode." Desktop mode is far better formatted and I did not download the beta version. It works and looks fine in desktop but I would be happy to hear what it looks like in windows8 mode in the beta version (in the non-beta version windows8 mode makes everything look small).

I would also like to know this, but I cannot find it either. It might be there...but you would probably have to search through pages of settings to find it if it did exist. For now, I am using a mouse, but I would like to see an updated version in the future to allow us to do this...

Okay. So I downloaded the profile and clicked on it at the bottom of chrome. I then opened 2 file explorer pages and moved the profile to the correct color folder. I right clicked and clicked install. It appears to have made no change though. Could it be that I didn't download the file right or that I might have the old BIOS and energy manager? I went to lenovo's website and downloaded both...but even then I didn't see much of a difference? I believe that I either downloaded the file wrong or that my energy manager and BIOS isn't updated. I am sorry if I am frustrating you, but I really have no clue at this point. Capture.PNG

    Capture.jpg

^^^Note that that 800kb screenshot took 10+ seconds to upload

I clicked on about in energy manager and it says that I am running version 1.0.1.38 but this is not the latest version...don't know why it didn't download right. Where should I save the download after I get it?

As for BIOS, it says I am running LENOVO 76CN31WW, 10/31/2013. Again, not the latest. I have no idea what happened when I tried to download these latest versions.

Anyone care to help with this simple task of updating software -_-

    Ok,

    Let's do things in order...

    1. Download the Lenovo Energy Management from HERE

    2. The BIOS and the energy management software go together. Note that the Lenovo Energy Management version should then be 1.0.1.49

    3. Download my ICC profile and save it somewhere on your computer and double-click on the file.

    4. Use the information from my previous reply to verify that the color profile is set as default. If not, follow the instructions from there..

I am doing this now and I will also download the BIOS again since I think that is the old one. It is taking awhile to download though. Thank you for the help. I appreciate it

EDIT: Wow am I dumb. I did download it before but it just told me to save them and I didn't do anything else. This time I made sure to click on the files to install them.

EDIT: Wait. I think I found it under advanced settings.

Definitely looks better. Thanks. And as for updating software in the future, doesn't this computer have an area that allows me to update everything at once? I was able to do this on my desktop

Sorry to bother anyone again but before I download the McAfee removal tool, where can I uninstall it from my computer? Do I just delete the folder under the D drive?

Never mind. I found uninstall programs under control panel and uninstalled that and some other 90 day free trial internet protection. Anything else people have been removing?

Wow. I have tons of questions haha. Any way to change the trackpad settings so that it requires a 2 finger swipe to access the left or right options on the screen? Also, no problems whatsoever with my bluetooth device and one second ago it just disconnected and won't reconnect. Of course, I am doing a full scan with windows defender after I uninstalled McAfee so I am hoping it is just defender turning it off for now. Fingers crossed!!!

If it won't reconnect and stay connected, disable the power management option in Device Manager > Bluetooth area.

Forgot the exact location but it's in a previous post of mine in this thread.

Use the removal tool anyway to thoroughly clean up McAfee. It's better and avoids conflicts with your new AV. Always un install through the control panel and NEVER delete a folder before you have done so. Even better use Revo Unistaller to uninstall neatly.

And have fun with your Y2P, great computer :)

OK now I can see my Yoga...try this:

System Properties > Device Manager > Bluetooth > Intel Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 + HS Adapter > Power Management tab > untick 'Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power'.

Can't recall if I rebooted or not but do so any way. You should then stay connected unless you turn things off :)

There is no power management tab when I follow this...

Under Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 + HS Adapter in device status it says: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

EDIT: Okay so I troubleshooted all the hardware by just searching troubleshoot and then clicking on troubleshoot hardware and devices. It scanned everything and said I had errors with hardware and software and that it attempted to solve the issue and that I shout restart my computer. At the bottom I clicked on update and restart (only appeared after I troubleshooted) and it updated 11 items and then restarted. I turn on my mouse and it works instantly without having to repair it 1000 times before it works (literally). I would still like to turn off the other setting though

For those with WIFI slowing down, I've had this issue a few times. You do not need to reboot. Go to the Network settings and simply disable the card and then enable it again. Much quicker :)

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections or ncpa.cpl in run command.

Yes, there is also McAfee Metro application that needs to be removed separately from the "Change PC Settings" - "Search And apps" - "App sizes".
Click on an App you want to uninstall, and the "Uninstall" button will show up.

I have used it and it is O K. I don't see any of the password options or anything like it says and it is annoying to type in the IP addresss everytime. And I downloaded bluestacks which allows me to use android apps on a PC so yoga phone companion spams notifications to install it (only because YPC is for android) so I finally figured out that I had to instal YPC on bluestacks for it to be quiet lol. Otherwise it's okay. Haven't used it much, but it just seems like a nice thing to have

I can play minecraft on low render distances but with good graphics settings (fancy, one that makes items look 3D, brightness in game turned up, etc). This is at native resolution. If I was able to put the computer at 1600x900 I would be running everything at max. For some reason, I am unable to play minecraft at 1600x900 (it literally freezes and I have to do control, alt, delete. After I change my resolution, do I need to restart of something? Anyone else have better luck with MC at non-native?

I've been trying to get the WiDi to work with a rather recent Sony TV Set but no luck. I get an identification error all the time.

I've have updated to the most recent WiFi driver and everything through the Intel web site but it just won't work. I can get the WiDi PIN code without trouble but then the ID error comes. The TV set can do it as I easily connect my GNote 2 to it and play films from my phone on the TV.

What I noticed is that the Y2P tries to create a direct WiFi connection with the TV when I chose it as projector and I fear that that's where the problem lies. The PW for a direct WiFi connection is completely different from the WiDi PIN code but I cannot figure out how to correct this.

    Anybody got a tip?

Day 5 of owning Y2P -- still very happy. Yellow is nasty but i dont care. I made the mistake of switching from Lenovos to a Toshiba (Portege) for my last laptop and, while it is still quite fast, it is barely holding itself together after three years. Gotta say, Lenovo knows build quality.

One issue I am worried about is pressure applied to the screen/lid, when I switch from tablet to tent to laptop mode. I feel like I am applying a lot of pressure on the top right corner of the lid and am worried about it not actually being able to handle the leverage in the long term.

Is anyone else worried about this?

How do you guys switch from each mode?

I started switching modes by pushing/pulling the lid from both corners with both my hands -- though this is kind of annoying and I feel like I might be treating this too delicately.. dunno though.

I felt like that too so I just changed modes by pushing from the center. Probably a littlw bettwr than a corner..sometimes I also push on both sides about half way down if I am holding it in the air

Oh also, when I do Ctrl, Alt, Delete, it says that I am using up 30% of my memory when I have nothing open...This similar on other peoples' computers? It also says that I am using 10% CPU. Then, when I click performance and go to WI-FI, it says that I have a max throughput of 100 Kbps. Does that mean at any time that I can only transfer 100 Kbps of data? Does this max at the top of the graph change?

A couple hours ago the battery was at 51%. I manually put the Y2P into Sleep mode (Start > Sleep), then closed the lid. Two hours later the battery is at 11%. Any idea what would cause that?

The "close lid" action is set to "do nothing." Would that take it out of sleep mode? Even so, what would cause such a dramatic drop in power (not running any CPU-intensive programs)

I love the Case Logic for 13". Just the right width but with a little extra room at the top. I like that it has some good padding, which the Amazon Basics I don't think has, and it is lighter weight. Given how light the computer is, I feel this sleeve is enough protection to put inside an unpadded suitcase. No need for any more custom laptop sleeves in my luggage. Versus having a larger Thinkpad this is just so much easier; I don't have to plan my luggage around it but can just use this sleeve and throw it whereever.

My fan turns on a lot, even if I am on the web or something. This a problem for anyone else?

I'm trying to use two external monitors through an Anker USB 3.9 Dual Display Docking Station. The monitors are both new Dell S2240T touchscreens. Both work through the Anker in HDMI mode, but neither will work in DVI-D mode. If I go to monitor resolution, the Yoga is seeing both monitors, but no display comes up on the DVI-D monitor. Both monitors work okay via a direct connect from a micro-HDMI to DVI-D cable, so I'm pretty sure the Anker isn't working correctly.

According the the Anker manual, under Device Manager I should see two lines: DisplayLink Display Adapter, and USB3.0 Dual Video Dock. I see the latter, but the DisplayLink Display Adapter isn't showing in Device Manager.

I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the most current version from the DisplayLink web site, version 7.6. If anyone is running a DVI-D monitor through the Anker dock, can you tell me what is showing under USB Display Adapters in your Device Manager?

I'm running a second monitor using Displaylink and DVI-D connection on the Plugable USB Dock. It shows both the DisplayLink and Plugable device under USB Display Adapters.

Has anyone been able to disable constant password lock upon Lenovo Screensaver launch? Driving me nuts already... Even the screensaver delay would not stay at anything other than the default 10 min

Hi, I just got my new yoga 2 pro and I'm loving it so far. There have been a couple of issues though, when enabling the HiDPI setting in Chrome via flags does anyone else get something like this?

Also battery life is pretty disappointing, web browsing in Chrome and watching a video with VLC got me about 5 hours of battery life, and this is with brightness at 50%, undervolting, setting the max processor state to 80%, and the balanced profile (with max battery savings). I've been looking around and people with these settings are getting 6+ hours of battery life. Is it just Chrome being a massive battery drain?

I've had the exact same issue with Chrome so just gave up setting that - it works well enough as is for me.

As far as battery life, Chrome is definitely more power hungry than IE11, and not verified, but VLC has been mentioned as power hungry. I get 6 hours with brightness at 70%, balanced power mode, mostly surfing the web. Battery life definitely is the weak point of the Y2P, as I was easily getting 1.5 - 2 hours more on SP2 doing the same things.

I can report that I use the Anker USB 3.0 dual video dock and both HDMI and DVI work fine. I don't know why yours wouldn't be...maybe its the dock? Have you tried the dock with another computer to see if it works differently?
