Just a heads up to everyone. Best Buy has the i7/8/256 models available on their website again. They have been sold out for a month so if you were waiting for one, I would buy one quickly. Probably be gone by tomorrow and then will be sold out for another month. You really can't beat the $1,199 price tag.

I also did the AC card install on my Yoga and did notice better performance. speedtest.net showed avg 22on 2.4g and 28 on 5g. ( My router is known for having less than stellar 5g performance) upload speeds were around 5.5 on both bands.

Something else I noted was the latency issue I was having with an online game (Xenimus) has now gone away with the new card.

For a microHDMI cable i use the one of my smartphone , a motorola atrix: perfectly working on my 27 inch monitor anf my videoprojector

I use a lot of portable application , i have move the apps i was using on my previous Dell Mini 12 in the yoga

The Chrome portable version i use is perfectly working menu and police are perfect in size and clarity
i dont remember where i dowload it but i think the one in PortableAPPs website should work
Google Chrome Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives

I have perform a new install of win8.1 on my yoga , and i have install ALL the driver of lenovo driver yoga page
Strangely i have 2 unknow device

    Any clues?

for pdf epub and many others format i use Sumatra pdf who is a fully touch apps (two finger on the screen= fullscreen , a lot of people miss this function)

Many of these questions posted by the new users of the computer have been answered in the past.

I wish there was a way to have a reference page with all the useful findings (such as the microHDMI adapter, for example) and just point users to that page.

As I stated before. Using your ISP bandwidth to test the speed of a router and wifi card is silly. You need to test actual performance in your INTRANET. Unless 2.4ghz in your area is over saturated you should typically max out your internet no matter what you're using. I've got a 50mbps down connection and I can max that out no matter if I'm on 2.4ghz or 5.0ghz N or AC.

Now if I switch to testing the bandwidth within my network I get anywhere from 600mbps (in the same room as the router) to as low as 150mbps (on the other side of my apartment in my bedroom). Even without the AC upgrade you should be getting 100+ mbps if you've got an N router on 2.4 (again unless 2.4 is completely saturated in your area).

I have been following this thread for almost 2 months. all the adapters I recall seeing needed to have the face shaved off to seat properly.

Perhaps you could point me to this information.....

FWIW I have used this thread for many things on my Y2P including the color profile and AC Card. Just because I decided to post now does not classify me as a new user of the computer. I have had my Y2P for about a month already.

    Regards.

The microHDMI cable that was mentioned before is the ASUS Micro-HDMI to HDMI Cable (5 Feet)

Yes, you can search for that and find it, but it's getting to be a bit impractical with over 200 pages of posts on this thread...

BTW, I do not own that cable and cannot personally vouch for it.

That a good set of notes... I wouldn't have the patience to keep that much data.

Three things that I need to look into:

    1. Why can't I run 1600x900 resolution. My system will not allow me to run that display resolution. This may have something to do with the default 200% scaling.
    2. Verify the luminosity values for each of the ten brightness settings (with the new BIOS).
    3. Find out what the maximum external monitor resolution is. I don't have a microHDMI cable (yet)...

I'm still kind of confused on this, can anyone clarify for me? =(

And yes, some sort of index or table of contents for this thread would be incredibly useful... searching for yellow and bios I just get all the posts about the bios release, which doesn't answer my question...

You have the right BIOS version and date. The date of the BIOS is not necessarily the date of release.

Xtreme Guard has a Yoga 2 Pro Screen protector for $3.00 right now. (Listed as $19.99)
To get the deal, check out with the coupon code: 85off

I had to put it in twice in order to get it to work.

I have no idea what the quality is like, but for $3 it's worth a shot. (Hopefully it doesn't mess with my Stylus)

    Found this on Slickdeals.

I just completed a luminance measurement for all brightness settings (using the yellow-corrected BIOS:

    Brightness - Luminance
    0 - 2.10 cd/m2
    1 - 4.30 cd/m2
    2 - 8.00 cd/m2
    3 - 14.60 cd/m2
    4 - 25.00 cd/m2
    5 - 37.60 cd/m2
    6 - 56.00 cd/m2
    7 - 84.60 cd/m2
    8 - 122.30 cd/m2
    9 - 209.80 cd/m2
    10 - 311.00 cd/m2

Ok, this is getting seriously annoying. The external display will randomly flip 180 degrees, so that the image is upside down. When I open the Yoga, the image on its display is correctly aligned, and the external display flips back to normal. Then I close the Yoga lid, and the external display flips back to upside down.

Meanwhile, the rotation button seems to do nothing at all. And when I click on the Intel Graphics icon, it offers only the option to Exit Tray - the rotation options are nowhere to be seen. Not even sure where I'd find those options now.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm thinking that the Lenovo "orientation" software may have something to do with it. Try disabling that and see if it makes a difference?

What about starting up with the lid closed?

Can't find anything called Lenovo orientation, where would that be located?

I do start it with the lid closed (although I think you have to slightly raise the lid or the power button won't work)

Just bought a micro-HDMI to HDMI converter that works without modifications. It's this one from Delock. Compared to the previously named ones this should also be available in Europa. I bought it at Ditech in Austria.

I had the same problem, but the button worked for me. Try disconnecting from your set up, put in tablet mode in the orientation you want when docked and click the button and see if it stops it from rotating. Once it's locked in position hook it back up as you want it to the monitor etc... If it doesn't work, try rebooting while still disconnected and repeat steps above.

If it won't lock while in Tablet mode there is something wrong with your laptop IMO.

EDIT: BTW you can rotate it back in the Intel software I believe if you haven't found that, but it went upside down again in a little while for me, so I locked it eventually.

Does the rotation button on the Yoga accomplish the same thing as using Control Panel?

Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution > Uncheck box: Allow screen to auto-rotate

Hi, thanks to those who contributed to this thread. I've had my Yoga 2 Pro for about 3 weeks, and the info in here helped a lot.

I have a strange problem with Chrome however. I installed Chrome dev a couple of days ago, but when I opened it, all I got was a white page with some of my home page info crammed into a small square on the upper left side of the screen. Nothing was clickable on that page and I couldn't type anything anywhere. So I uninstalled it and re-installed the regular version of Chrome but when I opened that, I had the same issue. I tried uninstall/re-install a few times (with every program I could think of: iobit uninstaller, Ccleaner followed by registry clean, Revo) and Chrome is still unusable. So it looks like whatever caused Chrome dev to not work properly is still present.

Then I tried a system restore to an earlier date, but it failed with "a file is missing" error. Did not tell me what file it is. I tried using other/earlier restore points but same result. Everything else works fine aside from Chrome, so I'm stuck with IE for now.

    Any ideas?

I had similar problems with Chrome in a small square on the upper left side of the screen. I did regular uninstall of everything to do with Google including using task manager to stop a lot of Google processes and several reboots. Eventually Google was cleared and after another reboot, I installed Canary.
    Cheers

I installed Canary. Aside from "Enable Pinch Scale", do any other flags need to be set ? Does it handle high DPI by default?

Had the same problem, for me, it turned out that I had to go into chrome//flags and restore everything to default. I had changed the hidpi flag, and I think that was causing the problem. Once I reinstalled dev edition after doing this, everything works great, including pinch to zoom. Hope this helps

It is the HighDPI flag. Had the same problem. Try getting into the chrome://flags menu and changing it back to deactivated. Chrome still works normally, only it displays it wrong. So you should be able to navigate with your keyboard. Also the spots where to click with your mouse are where they normally would be. Hope this helps.

It's still possible to use Chrome with hidpi flag on (and enjoying smooth fonts) but you have to "disable display scaling in high DPI settings" in compatibility mode. I would consider it as a temporary solution though.

I didn't have access to the URL bar so I coudn't access the flags. But deleting the Chrome profile in appdata, as someone else suggested, worked.

I had a problem with the HiDPI flag with the latest v.32 of Chrome so now i use an alternative solution to support the hi res screen of the Y2P.

Firstly since i run at native 3200 x 1800 i have set the font from Chrome Settings > Advanced Settings > Font 125% at Medium.

Secondly as the image attached, i tick the 'Disable display scaling..' setting via the Chrome.exe properties.
N.B. Do not set the HiDPI flag from Chrome/Flags if you use this solution.

With regards to the 3200x1800 resolution, do you guys think that text looks signifiantly sharper on the Y2P? Also, would there be a difference reading web articles using a scaled up version of the desktop IE versus reading text on the metro IE?

I have my resolution set on max but with the 200% scaling. In theory text should look as sharp as on a retina display iPad or iPhone, but I'm wondering if that's the case as I don't own those devices.

    Hello gents,

I feel a bit dumb to ask this, but I wouldn't want to stay ignorant either, so here goes.
I've read a couple times about:
    - enabling the battery saving option, which limits battery charging to 60%
    - disabling keyboard backlight
I've looked around a bit, but didn't find those options.
Could anyone share a pointer ?

    Thanks in advance,

    R.

Hello there! For the 60% charging(it's called conservation mode) just open the Lenovo Energy Manager on the desktop, then click on settings. You'll see it there. For the backlight, just push the Fn key and the space bar at the same time. That turns it on or off. Enjoy your Y2P!!

Can anyone confirm if Yoga 2 is made of same materials as Yoga 1? Played with Yoga 1 yesterday in shop and was quite disappointed. It is some sort of rubberised plastic. Quite disappointed if that's the case. Would expect more for 1300€.

    Hi, new to this forum.

I have a question on the Yoga 2 pro. Two questions actually.

    1. Has anyone had any troubles with Google Chrome to where you only see 1/4th of the webpage in the corner of your screen and can't see anything else, even the tool icon to even mess with the settings? I have tried EVERYTHING to fix this by the way. Problem occurred after I installed Java on a webpage. Tried uninstalling chrome, rebooting, etc, nothing worked. Couldn't find the Java file anywhere to delete.

    2. If I factory reset my laptop (thinking about doing it.) Will it still come with the yoga 2 pro preloaded apps and things (like yoga picks recommendation, etc) or will those be erased?
