Thanks for that, but I'm one of those who shouldn't be messing with the registry ;) Is there any other way to get control of scrolling direction? I can get used to it, but I find it much more comfortable to scroll down then up.

And WHY were not given control of it?

I lost my ability to scroll vertically. Not sure why. I checked settings in the synaptics section, and all is correct.

I can recommend the card and M-FACTORS as I purchased the Wi-Fi card from them and installed it in my Y2P, and working really well. Perhaps there's a lot of Y2P owners getting poor Wi-Fi service and purchasing the upgrade card! Hope you get yours soon.

The Y2P seems to have plenty of room for more ports. Why they didn't stick in a couple more USB ports is beyond me...

    Hi there,

I'm not sure why you lost your ability to scroll. You've probably tried this, but have you reinstalled your drivers? After making the registry modifications, I reinstalled the y2p synaptics drivers in lieu of the yoga13 drivers, as originally recommended by everyone and things are still fine. There are other methods listed in the Yoga 2 Pro FAQ thread. I hope it works out for you.

I've had my i7/8GB/256 Yoga 2 Pro for about 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. I'm running 1600 x 900 because too many apps just don't work well with the Ultra High res. It was impossible to size everything just right. Hopefully apps will be updated to behave better for High DPI displays soon!

I'm still having the yellow issue however. I have the latest Bios and Energy management. It doesn't matter what MODE I put it in the yellow never changes. It really doesn't bother me too much but I'd like to get a better yellow if at all possible. My computer shipped with the latest BIOS and EM, so maybe I need force the same BIOS on again? Any other ideas?

Hello there. I think you are wrong about it shipping with the latest EM. My Y2P was built on 12/25/13 and I have the same model. It had the latest BIOS but I had to update the EM. You should double check. Open the EM and click on settings. You will see "About" on the bottom. Click on that and check the version to make sure.

I'm in the same boat as you, my laptop is just about as old (although mine's the 512, but close enough). I do run it at 3200x1800 all the time because I don't really find other apps too tiny for me. However my yellow still isn't quite right. I was confused about the bios too, since it says it's the latest version, so please let me know if you notice an improvement if you do decide to run the bios again.

My energy manager is updated, and while I did notice an improvement after doing so to my yellow, it's still greenish. Not nearly as bad as it was, but definitely still green-y, which makes accurate photo editing/rendering really impossible.

Actually, I didn't lose all scrolling; just in Metro win8. On the initial page with the tiles I used to be able to scroll down to the apps that weren't pinned but now I can't. It's not a huge deal of course but kind of unusual. It won't swipe down with my hands either.

Anyone have a problem with the screen not rotating? If I use it in laptop for any length of time and then put it in either tent or tablet mode, the screen will not rotate. The only way to fix it is with a restart. Very annoying.

If you're still waiting, PM me. I have one that I purchased for my Yoga 2 Pro but pulled out after a couple weeks when I returned it - and it's sitting on my desk, since I can't use it in the Thinkpad Helix I replaced the Yoga 2 Pro with.

Ive two link questions, I couldnt find an answer for in this whole thread:

    1. Is it possible to downgrad the BIOS or the EM? Ive searched alot, but I couldnt find the old Versions for download... Why I want to downgrade?

=> The reason for buying the yoga 2 pro is a Special one: Before the BIOS-Update, it was possible to dim the Screen by F11 until the Display turned off. Now its not possible, cause the Display backlight still stays alive
I want to use an eexternal keyboad with my yoga 2 pro, so I have no access to the F9 key to turn off the Display. I found different solutions for that, but all are only Windows 8 based. So the Display turns off, but Windows is locked. When I press a key, the Display turns on again. The second Problem is: every running program stops to function (e.g. Music Player...)
So I hope, when I install the previous Version of the energy Manager, maybe that "Problem" will be fixed. Does anybody has an old Version of the BIOS and only installed the new energy Manager?

    2. At the moment I have a yoga 2 pro with the new BIOS (it was alread installed) and I cant turn off the adaptive brightness..
What I tried: - disable it in the power Management
    - go to search bar -> pc-Settings -> save power -> disable Auto brightness
    - go into BIOS and disable DTFP (or how it is called..)

And still, the Display is flickering, when I dont use a Minimum brightness. I usually work with a quiet low brightness and then it doenst work :(

Hope, somebody has a solution for that :)

Having just purchased the Y2P 2 days ago I have been reading up as much as possible and indeed saw a solution to your problem. I think it was in the **Y2P Release Thread** where someone wanted to dim to 0% and/or backlight off for pitch black use and it was achieved by purchasing an app in the app store. I started off by reading from the last page working backwards in this thread and that one, Ill look later but I know I saw it.

As to an odd problem Ive come across. Has anyone mentioned or seen this message in the Lenovo Energy Manager? Page 4 of the Battery maintenance tip says, "Unauthorized Battery Information" and tells me it is unable to start Lenovo Battery Protection.

    Whats up with that?

I have that same Unauthorized Battery Information. Basically I just think it's a general reminder to inform that if you get a popup message regarding Unauthorized Battery, this is what you should do.

A quick search of the thread and I didn't seem to see this answered, but I may have missed it.

Lenovo released a fix for the yellow issue, that had both a BIOS and Windows application component. Can the issue be fixed when running Linux, or are you stuck with mustard yellows?

    Hi
I just noticed that most of my battery consumption is done my the synaptics driver. Should it really be like that? How does it look for you?
    Namnlös.jpg
I have installed the yoga 13 synaptic drivers because I found that the original was bad. But i didnt notice any diffrent really, but i did stick with the yoga 13 drivers because i am lazy. How is the battery consumption for you who have the original drivers?

When in tent mode now my screen doesn't flip. Any ideas?

Edit : looks like I bumped auto rotate button on side. However I had to hit it like 10 times before it displayed disabled. How do I know if button is working? Is there somewhere else to look if auto rotate is locked?

The only place that doesn't scroll vertically is the tiles on Windows 8. When I try to scroll down, it goes to the right instead. Not a big deal though.

More annoying is that I still can't reverse the scrolling. I made the registry changes and still no go. I forgot to reboot after making the registry change. Was I supposed to do that?

I had to reboot a few times for some reason (without making any other changes to the mouse properties or registry) in order to get it to work. Afterwards you should test if that affected any USB mice you may have. The first time I did it, I changed the wrong mouse registry element so that my usb mice had reverse scroll. That's why I added that section where you have to match it up from the driver details section for the touchpad. But yeah reboot a few times and report back.

This is how mine works, but I'm confused why you would expect it to operate differently? You're only going to want the screen facing one way in laptop mode, so it doesn't need to work? But you might change your tablet/stand/presenter orientation, so it does? It hasn't bothered me so far.

Also, has anyone found an effective way to keep their track pad from looking greasy?! I usually just use my mouse but even still from the few times I've used the trackpad it already looks like I've had the laptop for a year...

I've found that water doesn't work. What I did is use a very dilute solution of soap in water which cleaned off all the grease. Just make sure you follow up with water to get the soap off.

You are going to think I am crazy but, just try it out.

Get the super sticky transparent shipping tape and tape your trackpad well for 5 min. After 5 min, remove the tape. Make sure that when you apply the tape, their are no air bubbles.

Yes, I am crazzzzzzzzzy but, it will work ;). After all, what do you got to lose? If it works, you will be crazy sharing this tip lol.

Ok so it worked for nearly a week then my headphones stopped working, were appearing twice and sounding glitchy. Rebooted, nothing BT works, can't delete peripherals, was able to re-add mouse but old entry is still there.

Bluetooth on this machine is a piece of . I never tried it on Windows before but it's so much more complicated than Android.

I saw a post earlier confirming that the Y2P can do 2560x1440 on an external monitor without a dual-link active DVI adapter or USB3.0 DisplayLink dock. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with it? I want to connect my Y2P (arriving soon) to my Qnix QX2710 (only has DVI inputs). I'm not optimistic about it but I could sell it and get something with displayport input as long as the yoga would work with that. Ideally I would run Micro HDMI to HDMI and daisychain a HDMI 1.4a to dual-link DVI cable but I'm not sure if that would work. Anyway I look at it would require daisychaining an adapter, since I couldn't find anything that does micro HDMI to displayport. Thanks a bunch!

I saw the Startech adapters. The first picture shows the 24+1 pin dual-link arrangement but the next few shows the 19 pin single-link arrangement. I contacted Startech and they confirmed that adapter is a single-link one.

I considered getting these two and testing it out:

Has anyone got Windows XP Mode running on their Yoga 2 Pro? I know XP is almost at end of life so now is the time to implement to get all updates. There are various ways to get Win XP running in virtual machines under Windows 8.1 without pro version. For example VMware Player or extracting VirtualXPVHD. What works on the Yoga 2 Pro?

First off, wow, huge thread! I attempted to read through all of 234 pages after getting my yoga 2 pro on Tuesday, and allllmost made it.....slow few days at work I guess haha.

So far things are great, however, my trackpad seems to be a bit loose. In my reading I came across 2 other posts that mentioned a loose trackpad, so I guess its not that widespread. I can really only feel it when I tap to click as the touchpad seems to travel down a bit every time I tap. Does anyone else have this issue?

I guess I am also kinda looking for advice on this issue; does anyone think it would be worth it to take back or get repaired under warranty? I would really kick myself if I let it go and the trackpad stopped working or something ridiculous like that.

    Thanks in advance!

    Dan

    Hey Everyone.

I've searched the thread but didn't find anything on this issue.

Anyone working with an external monitor? My issue is the text size, it's driving me nuts. The external monitor is 1200p and with the current text sizing it makes the monitor basically feel like it's 768p. Wasting the workspace. To make the monitor useful, i have to dial the text down to where it's just too small on the laptop screen. So much that I'll probably be blind by lunch.

Windows doesn't handle this well at all. I've been using teh googles to try and find a third party solution but have found no success. -Anyone run into this and found a solution yet?

FYI, I found a work-around: When you connect/reconnect a monitor it will default text size as you have it for the laptop screen. If you change the size of the text via the display settings, apply. It fixes the sizing on the external monitor. You can then go back to whatever size the text was originally and apply. The external will keep the setting.

I have to do this every time i connect/reconnect, but at least it works.

Blog post by Scott Hanselman is worth reading:

"Living a High-DPI desktop lifestyle can be painful

I've been using this Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for the last few weeks, and lemme tell you, it's lovely. It's the perfect size, it weighs nothing, touch screen, fast SSD, it's thinner than the X1 Carbon Touch that is my primary machine, and it just feels right.

It also has about the nicest screen I've ever seen on a Windows Laptop.

Except. This thing runs at 3200x1800."

So I had bought an HP Spectre 13t-3000 QHD model and unfortunately had some issues with the screen. I had sent it back to exchange it but it seems as though the issues I had are common to the display (it's an LG display). I'm looking at picking this up but I had two quick questions...

    - Are there any common/semi-common issues I should keep an eye out for?
    - Does the laptop have any wireless issues? I had tried the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 which used the same wireless card and had some speed issues when I got more than ~10 feet from my router.

    Thanks.

My issue is that the keyboard of my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro disables itself intermittently in Laptop Mode. I purchased this laptop (i7 cpu, 256GB SSD, 8GB memory) from BB a week ago and get it replaced twice (3 different units) and all had the same issue. Case of the first one I purchased was also cracked on the rear side. I powered the laptop to test it before I return it. Then I realized this keyboard issue. I was using it in laptop mode and keyboard backlight was going off by itself. First I thought it was just the backlight but keys were not functioning as well. Touchpad and Touchscreen were still functional. Time to time keyboard came back to life by itself and sometimes I needed to restart couple of times to get it work.

Next day I went to another BB store to get it replaced (the one I purchased was the last unit in other store). So I also got the last unit in this other BB store and went to school. After my classes I realized this one had the same keyboard issue. I checked if I had latest BIOS, drivers and software and updated everything. But there was no solution. I called lenovo tech support and the guy on the phone told me that it seems like a hardware issue and suggested me to get it replaced again via BB. I didn't think that it was a hardware issue. It seemed to me like the sensors drivers or firmware were thinking that I put the yoga in tablet mode and was disabling keyboard even in laptop mode. I tried uninstalling yoga software , disabling services such as YMC and intel thermal and power management from bios etc. etc. These things seemed to lower the number of issues but still keyboard was disabling itself time to time.

I went BB again to get another one. But of course I had to find another store that have the exact same model (and of course they had only one unit). I went and get that one. Guess what? It is same. I tried everythin. Installed my own copy of Windows 8.1 Pro and didn't install any lenovo software etc. Didnt work. I recovered to factory OS still same. I called lenovo tech support again to find some help. Only thing they could recommend me was to send the laptop for repair but I can not simply live without computer (I am computer science PhD. student need it access to a computer all the time).

I like the laptop so much and honestly I couldn't find another brand model with very high resolution screen i7 processor at least 8gb memory and 256GB ssd etc at this priice range. So I want to be able to use it. But every other minute or hour the keyboard disables itself. With the latest unit I got moving the lid (pushing and pulling screen back and forth) seems to help sometimes. Also tilting the laptop some times works.

Is there anyone else having this kind of issues? And more importantly is there anyone who managed to solve it?
I do not want to talk to tech support again. If possible I want to get in touch with some people from Lenovo software and drivers team so that I can help them diagnose the issue and test beta software firmware they might have.

PS: Why no bios/driver update for last couple of months?

I really, really don't understand why people find this to be an issue. If 3200x1800 doesn't work for you, why not put it in 1080p? I think that's the perfect working resolution for this size display, and it takes 2 seconds to switch the resolution back and forth if you for some reason need the higher pixel density. When I plug in my 1440p monitor, it automatically switches the Yoga's display back to 3200x1800, and when I unplug it, back to 1080p it goes. Seriously, it's perfect, and couldn't be easier.

So what the hell am I missing with this whole issue?

So I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this; say I'm connected to my campus' wifi, I close my laptop and head home (like an hour drive, not sure if that matters) and when I open up my laptop and login at home, my wifi card is dead. Like, there's a big x in the corner of my screen, I can't detect any wifi networks, and if I run a connection diagnosis thing, it comes back saying there's a driver and/or hardware issue.
So I have to reboot my whole machine, and then I can connect to the internet.

Does this mean I might have an actual hardware issue with my wifi adapter? I've been having a multitude of other wifi problems, mostly huge drops in speed (from 150mbps when I first connect, to about 5 a bit later) this problem I've heard others complaining about, but not the first.

And while I've seen lots of posts about wifi issues, I'm having a hard time finding one with a clear answer of how to fix it? I'm not computer illiterate, but I'm not super tech savy either; I've tried various settings on both my laptop and my router. All my drivers/firmware are up to date. I'm at my wits end with this. I dropped $1500 on a new laptop and I can't even connect to the internet... (the laptop is about a month old too, it's not one of the earlier release ones)

Is it a hardware issue, and should I look at trying to get them to fix it under warranty? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Ok am I the only one with this laptop heating up to much? By to much I mean if I play Microsoft solitaire collection it gets hot an will freeze a bit. If i put my ear up to the vents I can hear the fan running. Just not sure if this is normal on a slim tablet/laptop. There is no way I could run any intense games...
I just noticed running excel it got hot...it didn't freeze, but got hot. Is there a program/app I can download that monitors the temp that you all recommend?

    thanks for any replies..
