I apologize if this has already been posted, but a search didn't come up with anything.

Just picked up a Y2P Core i7 / 8G / 256G SSD model at BB today (new, not refurb). Got it home, fired it up, and it showed my 5Ghz 802.11n network. Turns out it has the Intel 7260-AC card and the newer Core i7-4510u processor. Proc is only a 100Mhz bump, but it's nice to not have to swap out the wireless card. Also has a Samsung PM851 SSD. I also don't see any yellow tint.

Perhaps I bought mine too soon. Have you compared the yellow colour with other monitors ? What is the BIOS version on your Lenovo ?

BIOS version is 76CN35WW, dated 03/25/2014. I just moved, so I don't have my main system hooked up yet. I'll compare the yellows when I get it hooked up.

HWINFO64 shows the panel as a SAMSUNG LƒYLLTN133YL01L01

Update: I was able to compare it to another system with a good quality monitor. Looks like it still has the greenish yellows issue...

Any one know where to get the 76CN35WW BIOS. It's not available on Lenovo support site.

Pretty awesome silent free upgrade on the processor.. It's 200mhz faster on the base clocks but i'm not sure that matters much. Too bad they didn't throw a HD 5000 ULV in there instead :/

Edit: Does the Yoga2 Pro box actually show 4510u for CPU on the sticker on the side? This would be nice in case someone was trying to make sure they were getting a 4510u model before they buy a new Y2P from Best Buy.

    I got my dates fixed.
Where did you get that e-mail address?
I sent an e-mail to Provantage about not receiving any paper work(s) other than the invoice at the time of purchase. Lenovo told me to call the warranty entitlement office and gave me a number. It is not listed at Lenovo website.

I called a few times. Then, sent out e-mails to all those who were listed in e-mails from Provantage including a few other email addresses from Lenovo, Lenovo warranty, etc.

One of them was a guy in Lenovo Argentina.
He fixed everything and updated all those people that I sent the email.

    Nobody from Lenovo US replied.
I don't know exactly who Techdata.com is. I believe Techdata.com is the one working on warranty services. They are not the one who update the warranty period as far as I know.

My complaint was about the guys at Lenovo not helping out. Instead, they told me to call a number that is not listed at Lenovo website. The guy who I told be the warranty should start on shipping date to BestBuy should be fired.

I know extended warranty starts from the purchase date. so it is always better to buy soon after purchase or at the time of purchase.
This is my 6th laptop purchase. Mostly Toshiba in 90s. Then, switched to Sony. Then, Lenovo.
Out of all those that I dealt with, Lenovo US was the worst.
All the links and e-mail addresses to sold this problem was not in US. Link was in England, email was in Argentina. Another guy who replied at Lenovo community was from south east asia.

I did what I was told without success all just because Lenovo US doesn't work.

Anyone who wants extended warranty should try Provantage.com. Although there was small things to fix, their service was the BEST that I know and were very fast. I received emails from 4 different Provantage employees. all of them willing to help.

Lenovo? None until I sent my email prasing Provantage and complain about Lenovo.

At least, I got what I wanted and all corrected.

Now, back to Windows 8.1 Event logs.

    I found it here

    Warranty Upgrade Registration

This is the page I used to verify the dates
Lenovo Support - Check Warranty Status (US)

Maybe it went smoother for me because I purchased my warranty from Lenovo?

I got the three year home service and accidental damage for $240. How much was your extension?

You have the same config I do. I bought mine about a week ago and it was built in May. One question..does your display go pretty much 98% off (not totally off as you can see a speck of background light) every 8-10 minutes regardless of what your power setting say? I did a clean install just to see if it was an issue with an app or setting Lenovo has in the standard configuration and it is. In the clean install it goes off when I tell it to and not when it wants to. Let me know as this is driving me crazy..I thought it might be the energy manager but it isn't as I installed that again anyway.

How dumb of me..finally figured it out. It was using a blank screen saver set for 5 minutes (not 8 anyway). It has been so many years since I have used a screen saver that I forgot they even existed.

Got a new Y2P from BB last night. Mine didn't have the nice spec bump that a previous poster mentioned...bummer. Love the machine so far, but this crappy wireless card is KILLING me. Have we confirmed that we CAN'T swap cards? That would be a huge bummer.

have you tried searching first? It is all over the place that the wireless card can be changed. I changed mine 2 days ago. You need the below one

    7260NGW (Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11ac, Dual Band, 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0*) - M-FACTORS Storage

Get from mfactors to ensure it will work as there are some slightly different versions that dont work

So, I'm looking to replace my laptop and my Nexus 10 tablet (the only use for my tablet is entertainment, be it videos, web browsing, skype, etc). Should I pull the trigger with the Y2P? it's driving me crazy haha

Looks like Canada Best Buy has the 4510u Yoga 2 Pro advertised. Wonder how long the US BB will be selling them as the stocking unit.

Best laptop I've ever had. And I use it often for watching movies and couch news browsing in tablet and stand modes. Tablet mode is too big to be held in one hand but OK in your lap. The stand mode simply rocks, much more usable than what I thought. You can adjust the angle of the display the way you like while the keyboard part is sitting at a table or in your lap / on your legs. Super sharp display.

IMO, Yoga is the best convertible 2 in 1 (4 in 1, actually) solution so far. You might try Surface 3 Pro if you don't mind the inferior laptop experience due to the weaker keyboard and that stand thingy.

Edit: Try to get the newer updated version of Y2P if you can. It's just the matter of time before it replaces the old stock everywhere.

I just bought a Y2P from BB a couple days ago and was surprised when I got home and found it was the same specs as this.(build date is 5/28/14) I hadn't seen anything online indicating this updated model was available so I started searching and ended up here. So far it's been rock solid and I love it.
To answer the question about if the label on the box stated accurate specs (sorry if it was already answered, I may have missed it), yes I looked at the box to confirm and even took a picture. So I would definitely ask to see the box before you buy if you're wanting the updated wireless card and processor

I'm running into a lot of problems trying to do a clean install. The BIOS won't show the Windows Product Key, it just says the licence is STD, so I got a key viewer and input that into Windows' install tool and it says "This product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.1." So I put in a generic key and then the setup tool says it won't connect to the server and to check my internet connection, which is working perfectly fine.
So I can't get the ISO from them, and I can't seem to find a legitimate download for it anywhere else either. What else can I try? Has anyone else ran into these problems?

    Thanks UncleSpam,

Are you able to edit photos well on the Y2P? I'm an amateur photographer and really love the Y2P overall, but am on the fence because of the display issues. Does it really make that big of a difference? Thank you for your response in advance!

I went through the exact same thing, 2 days straight and no luck. I got my key via Belarc security advisor. Managed to download few images but no luck. Luckily though a mate recently bought win 8.1 OEM. Made an image out of that, made a bootable usb drive and installed a fresh copy of win 8.1. I didnt have to enter any key, it auto picked it and activated it.

Left partition 1-4 as is. Joined 5-7 and install windows on that.

Several weeks ago my Chrome Beta reverted to being fuzzy again even with the new registry links installed. Looks like the 36 1985 release undid of the functionality. I tested several versions of Chrome and found that only the most recent Canary and Dev are currently responding correctly to the registry changes.

Here is the link to Dev if needed: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/index.html?extra=devchannel

For me, the current working list is:

Stable channel for Windows Does not work as of 07/07/14
Beta channel for Windows Does not work as of 07/07/14
Dev channel for Windows Does work as of 07/07/14
Canary build for Windows Does work as of 07/07/14

Hope this helps someone out there frustrated with the chrome updates!

That is strange for another reason - we are a Lenovo reseller - and the warranty is always 3 months after our ship date to allow us to resell to customers and still have the customer with a one year warranty (as long as we sell within 3 months). Strange that Best Buy would not at least have that as well. For instance our Y2P's that shipped to us in May have a warranty through August, 2015.

Picked up another Y2P as my son decided he didn't want a Macbook Air for college. I went to Best Buy and talked to the sales guy about the 4510u/Dual band wifi model and he was nice enough to check the box before purchasing. Sure enough, all of their new shipment boxes were those models.

BB offered a $150 off coupon for college students so it ends up being a pretty good deal..

    Jon,

With the .ICC profile, at 70% brightness, my Y2P does pretty well and, yes, it does a good job with color accuracy (I use Adobe Lightroom for editing my digital images).

A more fundamental problem, if you are picky about the yellow, arises when you want to use the display at different brightness levels. A different color profile would have to be created for that level (as the yellow/green issue actually gets worse at lower brightness levels).

Another thing to realize is that my color profile was created using my system, with it's somewhat unique display (probably really close to the others).

The difference using my color profile is noticeable. Set the background to yellow before applying the profile and you'll notice the change.

I spoke with a Lenovo Sales representative a few minutes ago. He said that Best Buy sells the Yoga 2 Pro units with the updated Intel Core i7-4510U processor and Intel 7260 Wireless (2x2 BGN) network card under contract with Lenovo. The Lenovo Sales representative also said that the updated Yoga 2 Pro units may not be available on the United States website until Fall. If anyone has been able to buy the updated Yoga 2 Pro directly from Lenovo, please post.

I actually saw your guide and tried to download the ISO, but the ISO download failed so I got a hold of a Pro ISO and installed with that just so I start working again, but of course now the product key doesn't work so the annoying Activate Windows messages keep popping up. Considering just buying a key and moving on.

May be because the ISO you d/l'd has a hacked key. A legit copy of win8 will pull the correct key from the bios. It's also important that you burn the ISO to DVD/thumb drive in UEFI mode when you boot to install. Regardless, the OEM key that comes with your laptop is still in your UEFI, so it would be a shame to purchase an additional key!

How can I get a legit copy for an ISO then? It definitely didn't pull the key even with the ISO that I got ahold of that was burned for a legit key. I feel like I'm losing my mind here, it shouldn't be this difficult. Is there another step-by-step walkthrough I can try to check to figure out what I'm screwing up?

If you're using a legit ISO then it sounds like the bootable media (DVD or thumb drive) wasn't burned/booted in GPT/UEFI mode. What media are you using?

I did a search, but didn't find a good answer. I have the 256gb SSD, but really need to upgrade to a 512gb. Any suggestions for the best one for our machine?

I can't believe I've used up almost all 256 already. I don't have my whole life on this drive. Is there any likelihood that something is sucking up space for someting useless?

Hi guys, I just pulled the trigger on the refurbished Yoga 2 Pro from Newegg. It should arrive next week. I've gotten the sense from this thread and elsewhere that it needs some adjusting out of the box, bios update, wifi drivers and so forth. Is there any sort of guide online for what I need to do when it arrives to make sure everything is optimal? I guess just a list here would help out a lot too if someone would be willing to write one up! Thanks!

Starting to have problems with this machine. It's overheating a lot. Is 60 degrees average too high for this laptop? I remember why I was always in the low 40's... This is very disappointing...

Hi All - First time poster here. I just started having an issue with the cooling fan on my Yoga 2 Pro. It kicked on and ran all night last night. Even after I re-started this morning the fan immediately came back on full tilt and won't shut off. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Did you check in the running applications if something is lurking high CPU usage or did you install something that triggered it ?

I have my Y2P for almost one year now and don't know what the fan sound like, never heard it. Even when recoding video or vectorizing images it hardly surpasses 60-65° C.

    Good luck

I got it. Just download the file from mobilesupport.lenovo.com. It's version 38. Lenovo updated the file but did not update the date of the file on that page.

Hi Tonio - thanks for the reply. Oddly, nothing was running that was consuming a high level of CPU resources, just Outlook and Firefox...maybe 15-25%. I shut down and restart a couple of times this morning with no luck.

I finally got the fan to shut off by powering down my Y2P and then sitting it on my kitchen counter (granite, so it's cool to the touch) for about a hour. When I powered back up the problem was fixed. Perplexing, but I'm glad it is fixed now.

As an aside, how do you check the CPU temp?

    Hi Tonio,

    @hobbitz gave the answer.

It would have been too easy if Lenovo had put the right date, wouldn't it ? :D
