These are my router settings. All drivers are up to date. For some reason, I can only get a solid connection when I set my wireless card to 802.11b only, and even then its still much slower than my other laptop.
edit: Also just tried on a barnes n noble wifi network and again has trouble connecting/ constantly disconnects when the card is set to 802.11a/b/g but connects fine when set to 802.11b only.

Are you sure your antennas are properly connected and not damaged? Haven't any problems with the AC Card so far...
-
Have you tried different channels on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands?
Interference can cause significant issues with the connection reliability and/or throughput speed. -
Thank you for all the suggestions, but I have finally found the issue with my home router at least. I took the password off and set the network to open and speeds/connection are amazing. I'm trying to figure out why the password is an issue though as I'd prefer not to have an open network. I was using WPA2-PSK AES

Hi all, i've gonna buy a new ultrabook this week and i think i'm gonna take the yoga 2 pro i5 4210, 256 SSD and 8GB RAM. Does any of you know if the y2p can be used with the Thinkpad Onelink Dock? if not are there any other solutions for a dock for the yoga 2 pro?

There are new updated drivers on the page Laptops and netbooks :: Yoga Series :: Yoga 2 Pro Lenovo - Lenovo (GB)

I have heard mixed responses regarding updating drivers & then the new dual band wifi card not working. Is everyone updating all drivers now on Lenovo site? As a new owner of Yoga 2 Pro, don't want to cause problems. Only other problem I have is using external mouse with external monitor & cover closed.....mouse moves randomly. Thank you.
-
You shouldn't use the Lenovo wireless drivers from the Lenovo site as far as I'm concerned. They are different cards.
I just successfully installed the AC card today. On reboot the card did work without updating the wireless drivers. I did have to download the Bluetooth drivers, but I'm going to lay low on updating the wireless drivers for now. They seem to be working fine for now (I'm connected to my 5G), but I've only have the card installed for about a half hour. I did have to go back into the Device Manager for the Wireless card and uncheck the power option again. Not so with the BT driver. Thinking back, a reboot may have fixed the BT driver issue without updating, but I'm not sure. Updating worked fine, so I'm cool with that.
My current versions:

My office just gave me one of these. Is there any way to get the keyboard backlight to turn off after a period of time? Is there Lenovo software I can run to see if I have the latest drivers for the machine?
-
Hi
Unfortunately it's No for both. You can only switch the backlight on and off with the fn + spacebar. For the drivers you'll have to check them manually as there is no sw as far as I know.
If you go up a bit in this thread, you'll find posts that resume the changes, there isn't much new. Also see the Intel driver update page while you're at it. -
I just watched a YouTube video for replacing RAM on the original Yoga and the presenter mentioned that Lenovo does not offer the option in BIOS for a user-allocated amount of system RAM for video RAM. Is that the case with the Yoga 2 Pro, as well? If so, how much is allocated for video?
As a contrast, the Gigabyte motherboard BIOS for the i3-3225 processor in my home-built desktop allows me to allocate anywhere from 64MB to 1024MB (i.e. up to 1GB) of system ram for video. -
You are correct. I had the same question when I bought the computer. Upon some investigation, I found that the video RAM allocation is dynamic and cannot be adjusted by the user.
-
Thanks for verifying. I guess with reasonable parameters, dynamic allocation could work well. On my desktop with 12GB RAM, I don't mind giving video a full GB RAM and then just forgetting about it. With "only" 4GB or 8GB that might not as good of an idea.

Does anybody know of any third-party power adapter without a "brick" dangling mid-cable that would work with a Yoga?
I'm spoiled by the power adapter for my Acer which has the brick engineered into the power plug piece. I find it more elegant and practical, even though it might take more space on a power bar. It's a single piece with the brick-on-the plug and a long continuous wire with a connector at the end. No more brick dangling in the middle. I've done some searching and haven't yet found a third-party adapter in this form factor.
In case my description isn't adequate, here's a photo:
The plug pins are mounted on a disc that can be screwed off the "brick" and replaced with a different type of plug for non-USA users. -
Just a heads up, 4 new drivers were released on the Lenovo site. They are dated 8/12. Just don't update the Intel HD Graphics. I hate the new profile system.
-
-
Just an observation... I did a BIOS update to the latest version.
It went well, and once I checked the "yellows" I could not tell any difference. Next step is to generate the color profile, when I'll get some time...
I'm rather disappointed with Lenovo's driver support, for the record.J-Deadly likes this. -

Unreal... and creepy that a major computer hardware maker does this crap job with drivers.
-
So. has anybody downloaded & updated the 4 new drivers on the Lenovo site? If yes, any changes? I am also afraid to update anything as all is working fine.
-
I downloaded all new drivers. But, I use the Intel drivers for the BT, WiFi and Video, and I did not use the Lenovo ones.
Everything else, I updated without issues.lenwink likes this. -

Note that Microsoft has released Windows 8.1 August 2014 Update 2 KB2975719
This will appear for download automatically in Windows Update but is optional and has to be chosen to install. Read the release notes:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2975719
I had no problems but have not tested any of the updated features.
Cheers
Tom
My Note 2 to you -
Regarding KB2975719, it seems to have been pulled from the automatic deployment (at least on the Y2P).
I had problems installing this when it first came out, along with another package. The other security package eventually installed after a new Fix-It from Microsoft.
For reference, here's some details on KB2975719, at least for reference.
I guess, some users are experiencing some issues with it. -
I'm not sure if it's the KB2975719 but I now have troubles with Windows Update. Can't install the latest définitions of Defender...
-
Luckly, I don't use Defender. It's still there, but it's deactivated since I use McAfee Anti-Virus Enterprise...
-
I just created color profiles for brightness levels 4 (40%) and 7 (70%) for BIOS 38 and the latest Energy Manager 1.0.1.51.
The text file in the package has more details.

Hello everyone. I just purchased (this past Sunday) a Yoga 2 Pro with the updated 4510 i7 from Best Buy. I guess, after reading this thread and a few on the lenovo sight, that I'm glald I received the updated version because there are a lot of headaches I avoided with the older wifi adapter.
At any rate, after reading through this and several other posts I must say that this is a great place with lots of helpful people. I hope that you can help with my issue.
I am using a Logitech t630 ultra thin Bluetooth mouse and am enjoying it. However, about halfway through today I encountered a few bluetooth drops. After reading a few threads I have come to the conclusion that I may be should not have updated the Intel BT driver on Lenovo's support site. So, I rolled back the driver (after deleting the Intel Wifi PROset that I had updated) and re-installed the version that was on my D drive. According to a poster (sorry, don't recall on which site), the only BT driver version that works is the "original". However, I'm wondering if it's possible that my "original" driver is not the same -- since I have the "new & improved" Yoga 2 Pro.
Can someone post the BT driver version that I should be using? I rolled back and am currently using 3.1.1309.390 published on 9/19/2013. I must say that I didn't notice any problems after I first updated, but it has happened occasionally since early this morning (I updated yesterday) and even once since I rolled back. It's very frustrating.
Thanks! -
Man...have to send my Y2P back to Lenovo soon, as the touchscreen is on the fritz. It's been a good week with it...but I have to decide between having them repair the same model or just wait until the outlet restocks it so I can get one with 8gb of ram / 256, as space and running out of ram are actually a problem on this even while it's relatively new.
The real question is should I stick with this, or go to the Thinkpad version? -
I am using the 17.0.1428.1 7/9/2014 driver. -
It hasn't done it today, but we'll see what happens. Thanks for the reply! -
Hello everyone,
I just purchased a brand new Yoga 2 Pro today. The one with the updated i7-4510U processor.
I was led to believe that all of the Y2P's with this refreshed CPU would come with the AC 7260 card. However, mine doesn't seem to have it? When I go into device manager and look at the network device. It only says Intel Wireless-N 7260 and not AC. I also have an AC router that is capable of AC as well as both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands. Yet, my Y2P can only connect to the 2.4Ghz network (not sure if it is AC).
Is this due to a driver issue or do I simply not have the AC card? -
You don't have the AC card. It actually says what card the systems comes with on the packaging... "WLAN: BGN+BT4.0"
-
Yeah, my model doesn't have the AC card.
I ended up calling a lenovo rep about it and he told me that only two model numbers of the many available (he didn't tell me an exact number) are being manufactured with the 7260 AC card.
A bit unfortunate for me but the 7260N in mine doesn't seem to be having any of the wireless issues that seem to be affecting a lot of users. So until I really need a dual band AC wireless card, this should hold up nicely.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this laptop. My yellows don't look mustard-y and everything seems to work pretty well. Screen is amazing. I just wish the keyboard had a bit more travel (first gen yoga had a very nice keyboard for an ultraboook) and perhaps a larger battery. But these are only minor quibbles -
I really have never had too many issues with the Wi-Fi card connecting to different routers etc traveling.
But here in Domincan Republic on vacation I hit a router in my condo where no matter what it would not connect. My android phone would connect. I should have written down the model number of the router but pretty sure it was old.
The condo was cool though and bought a brand new router. Works fine now. Hope I didn't force him into buying it because of the yoga wifi card...lol. Well he wont have issues with other renters who have a yoga pro 2 who stay here in future..haha. -
I just picked up my new yoga pro 2 two days ago from best buy. Got the i7 model 8gb with 256gb ssd.
Mine had the Ac card, I made sure to look before I bought. Coming from a surface pro 3 to this, well tablet mode is sad. the screen is widescreen vs the surface is the new 3:2. So tall and skinny yoga vs noebook size for surface. But I'm more than pleased with the keyboard and the added 2 usb ports.
Biggest notices and problems so far in two days.
Screen glare, even the surface pro original I had and the new surface pro 3 have gorilla glass as well, but the yoga screen is so much more reflective and shiny.
Bluetooth mouse, cuts off and on, more off than on.
Scaling was weird, so put it on 1920x1080p and was fine. Still really nice screen to look at.
And lastly BATTERY.
Ive read so many reviews on here and all throughout the web, stating anywhere from 5-7 hours on light usage.
But this morning, I put everything I could think of setting wise to get most for battery. Power setting all towards battery, screen at 1080p and brightness at 20%. Keyboard backlite off. Only running a single program at a time (word, email, web), and never more than 5 webpages. And just babying the laptop, and got 5 hours.
So I'm guessing real world with still power favoring settings but multiple applications will yield about 4 hours.
If that's the case, this Lenovo is a no go for me. A month ago my original surface pro broke and that was 4 hours of battery life. I said never again. tried surface pro 3, had overheating and really flaky wifi that needed adapter reset or sometimes crashed, and that gave all medium balanced settings and 7-8 hours of battery. Didn't baby that one at all. -
Are the problems with the off yellow colors fixed in the models currently shipping? I will do a little photoshop work with it so of course I'm curious. Most of my work of that type is done on my desktop or my workstation laptop, but there are times when I must use my traveling laptop. Thanks"......

You should see https://c.getsatisfaction.com/photo...reply-list[settings][page]=7#topic-reply-list before making a purchase decision if you really need to use Photoshop on your laptop.
If you read the thread you will see that Adobe has been hiding the problem for years. The problem is actually far more serious than is indicated by the forum discussion since Adobe has been selectively deleting many of the comments (I know this for a fact since they have deleted many of my comments and many other responses as well). The forum is being censored by Adobe, but you will still see that there is a serious problem.
It has become clear that Adobe will never provide a bug fix for this problem. They consider it a "feature request" so their position is they don't need to fix previous versions. They claim it has been fixed in the latest version of PS or in their very expensive subscription based Creative Cloud, but users claim that the problem has NOT been fixed in these versions either.
I am very happy with my Yoga 2Pro. I've given up on Adobe rather than get a laptop with low resolution display. I've read in the Adobe forum (link above) that there are inexpensive Photoshop clones that work fine on high resolution monitors. Unfortunately nobody can name the clone in the Adobe forum or Adobe will delete the comment so I don't know the name of the software. A Google search should help.
PS: this is also a serious problem in Photoshop Elements (see https://c.getsatisfaction.com/phot...reply-list[settings][page]=2#topic-reply-list -
Lastnight I went back to 'daily driver' power settings and res back to 4k Brightness to 40%. I got about 5 hours light usage with some medium and idle in there as well.
Now this morning, its been on pretty much idle since 830am, maybe 40 min total of email and web, but I wont let it go to sleep. And 1145am so about 3 hours later im at 41% with estimated 2 hours left.
So why is it, no matter what power setting, resolution, or how I use it that I get 5 hours?
5 hours battery saver ultra settings, 5 hours normal settings, 5 hours normal light work, 5 hours light with medium sometimes, and now 5 hours of idle?
Really weird
But thanks for the driver issue recommendation. The display (even though 1080p or 4k) has been the only consistant thing (its on) and with light/no/medium loads its all same battery. So im really thinking that the screen is whats limiting the 5 hours.
I'll try your driver recommendation, and the 2nd half of today run another battery test on light/medium.
Then tom morning ill do a medium with some high workloads and see what that time is.
Ill repost anything ive found.
