build/ship wait time??

I ordered an R400 on August 5th. I just called them, they told me it wouldn't ship until October 7th. Site still says August 27th for ship. I seriously hope the October date is wrong, I cannot wait two months for a laptop.

Anyone else get a new R series and have the same problem?

They're experiencing a 9-cell battery shortage, and this may or may not have spilled into the other battery sizes. Given my experience, and the fact that you're ordering a new model, that sounds like a possible wait time. I ordered on July 29, and despite being on a "critical" list, my package has slipped considerably from its August 12 estimate. I was told today that it won't ship until August 24, and with 2-day shipping, I should expect it by August 27.

You might want to go with a smaller battery in an attempt to minimize your shipping time.

By now, I am readily wishing that I went with a Sager, through which many people have received their laptop by now.

When do they charge your credit card? Because unfortunate for me I didn't set up my shipping address with my credit card and I got an email today that they couldn't charge my card and to call them, but I didn't get through to talk to them today. Am I to believe that my W500 is ready to ship once they can charge my card?

 

I ordered a T61 on 8/6 with an original ship date of 8/20 and today they moved the ship date back to 9/3

 

They place an authorization/hold on your card at the time of order. If it doesn't go through they don't submit the order to the factory to be built. This authorization will reduce your available credit.

When the system ships they follow up on the authorization with the actual charge. That's when the system cost hits your credit card balance.

 

My T400 order that I canceled (well on the phone with them now to get the price match and cancel the new order) has been shipped. It shows 8/21 is a shipping date and no tracking number yet. Ordered on 8/11. Specs are: T400, LED w/o camera, 2.8ghz, 80gb, 9cell, discrete, 5300, no bluetooth.

 

Sounds like you were one of a lucky few that didn't have their shipping date delayed due to the 9 cell battery. Funny that you're trying to cancel it now. lol

I don't think anyone on the forums has talked about actually getting their refunds yet since their orders haven't shipped. But in theory you should be able to get your difference refunded with the price match, so if you could let us know how it goes it would be much appreciated.

 

Ordered X200 on 8/5, will possibly ship anytime between 9/8~9/12.

The T400 I ordered on 8/12 is showing as shipped on 8/20, with UPS tracking number and everything. Only bummer is due to the way I ordered through my school, only standard shipping was available, so the expected delivery is 8/28 according to UPS site.

Specs: T400, LED w/ camera, P8600, 250GB HDD, 6cell, discrete, 5300, bluetooth.

 

The customer rep requested to cancel my new system and started the process to credit me the difference. He said it will take a while for me to get credited. I will probably call their billing dept to check as often as I can. Thanks.

 

Would you be so kind to tell me where it is shipping from? I had heard it enters the US through somewhere (Ontario?) in California.

When I ordered a Lenovo travel keyboard, it shipped from China and entered the US at Anchorage AK.

I ordered a T400 through CPP on 8/19 it said it shipped 8/23 (today, so I don't have a tracking number yet... could be stuck in China for all I know). Maybe we'll see an efflux of shipping from Lenovo!

Wow, thats great! I ordered mine the day before you, so that gives me hope. My estimated date is 9/1.

 

on tuesday i was told my t400 would ship out this week. today i called and was told it would ship out next wednesday nor thursday. d**n lenovo!

 

It seems like there might battery delays for both the 6 and 9 cell. So depending on that shipping dates might be different.

If you look at the accesories page for batteries, both the 6 and 9 cells have a more than 4 week shipping delay

 

I ordered on 8/5 and the status is still in process......my order is not being shipped yet....maybe it's the 6-cell that's slowing it down

I also ordered a T400 with the 6-cell battery on 8/5, and it was shipped on 8/21. I don't have it yet, though, and its UPS flight from China was cancelled.

A little bit. Also, I actually called on 8/10 to make a change in the configuration, which they said would delay shipping for 1-2 days. It still shipped five days before the original expected date (8/26), though.

If the notebooks ordered were identical, yes. But if not, no. Most oem's don't start the build process unless every piece of the pc is in stock.

 

just received update from lenovo. " Status: Shipped on 08/23/2008"

but when i tracked it on ups, ups says "Billing Information Received" which means ups has not received the shipment(thinkpad).

how long will it take lenovo to ups the thinkpad after giving the "Billing Information"?

Lenovo told me 27th on the site, 26th when I called the first time, then 22nd the second time, now they're saying september 1st (T400 w/ 9-cell). Maybe I should stop calling.

I got my e-mail message this morning. When I checked the UPS it said it already arrived in Anchorage AK. I seems like it has to go through some customs in AK before it can make its way to Louisville, KY.

I live on the West coast.. but I guess everything goes AK -> KY -> final destination?

it's weird. held by brokerage for some ****reason? what kind of reason? hope it's not quality problems.

 

Mine says Brokerage Released Shipment. and that shipment is submitted to clearing agency for further clearance. (don't know what either of these things mean)

also mine actually says a departure scan and an arrival scan in anchorage, AK. This is also one day later than the Shenzen shipment.

Well, at this point UPS lists the following journey for my T400:

Shenzhen, China-->Guanzhou, China-->Louisville, KY-->Guanzhou, China-->Anchorage, AK


At least it's back in the U.S. I notice, however, that UPS removed the "expected delivery date, " which previously said 8/28.

 

Settle down. It just means it's coming through customs.

 

just a word of warning if they have trouble charging your credit card and they ask you to call their credit service number 1-800-426-3325, DONT. It was a waste of 2 days for me, you cannot wait to talk to a person, it goes straight to voice mail and they claim to get back to you in 1 business day. well around the end of the second day I just called their main number (866)428-4465 waited on the phone a bit and got service for my billing issues. Needless to say I am pissed I wasted 2 days with the other number first because I need my laptop by Wednesday, and after resolving the issue Friday afternoon they couldn't even guarantee it would mail by Monday.

 

Ordered a T61 8/5. Said would ship 8/19 Still nothing ***. Now the thing says Sept 2 ship date. "Bob" on the customer service line told me it's been sitting there waiting on a 9-cell battery.

If it wasn't for the fact that I bought it dirt cheap with CPP the day the new models came out I'd be even more pissed. Maybe since I'm not a big client they didn't offer to ship it with a 6 cell and send the 9 cell later, or bump me up to overnight shipping or anything. Just suck it and wait apparently.

Almost 99% positive that the 6 cell and 9 cell battery is the culprit for the delayed shipping.

In a way it's too bad that the T60/T61/T400 series all share the same battery.

Tried calling this morning....the number 1866-96-THINK was not available

 

I ordered my T400 through cpp site on 8/19. I was originally given 9/2 as expected ship date. I got an e-mail yesterday 8/23 that it has been shipped. Still no update on the UPS site yet due to the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. btw I got the 6 cell battery.

 

I also ordered T400 with 6 cells on CPP, except on the 20th. Hopefully, I will get some updates from Lenovo next week. Finger crossed

 

is this t400? with 4gb ddr3??? how did you do that??

 

You need to select a 64bit OS in order to configure your system with 4GBs of ram.

Its just the way that Lenovo has the webpage set up (I think Dell does something similar as well). Probably to avoid complaints from people running a 32bit OS with only 3.7 gigs of ram being recognized by the system.

well 3.7ish gigs of ram because of the 256megs of video card memory. Only 4 gigs of ram are addressable by a 32bit OS
