well all what i heard is that u cannot return the meyer order and you might not have your warranty, is that all the worries?
-
Hair loss and flatulence are also possibilities.
But seriously, cancellation of the order is always a possibility at least until you get the machine. I think that's about it. -
so if there is a defect let say something broke on the way it was shipped to you and u open the box, then you cannot return a broken machine?
-
If the reports are accurate, the answer is no.
But that's the thing, all we can do here is guess about what Lenovo might or might not want to do. I think that if they want to play hardball there's a way for them to play hardball so I certainly don't think the transaction is risk-free. On the other hand, none of us can read Lenovo's mind so it's anyone's guess right now.
The other thing is that whatever happened in the past is no guarantee of what can happen now. -
Here is a portion of my order taken straight off the Lenovo page.
I read this to mean i have a 1 yr depot warranty.....
All the speculation about warranties is BS.....the only question is whether it will ship or not....LOL

my order still says "in process." sweet.

I ordered a T61 through EPP on 6/2, and I got an email this morning (6/6) saying that my order has been shipped. The Track Shipment has been updated on Lenovo's order status page and goes to UPS for tracking information.
It's a 3.8 kg package coming from Hong Kong to San Diego, and should arrive 6/8. I won't believe it until I see it, because I don't get how my order was able to get processed so quickly. I did upgrade the shipping to 2 day UPS, but I highly doubt that will expedite my order. Is it even reasonable for a laptop to be built so quickly?? -

It will be interesting to see if paying the extra 21.00 for UPS 2 Day really expedites the build process. I paid the extra 21.00 on my order and hopefully it ships quicker ( I am thinking they may flag these as high priority orders and move them to the front of the line?)
-
On the other hand, judging by the reports I've seen of people getting machines from Lenovo, shipping dates seem to be pretty random right now. Some people have reported getting their machines within days of the order. You might be one of the lucky ones... -
Well I just pulled the trigger on T61 through EPP (IBM employee not Lenovo)
I will monitor my order to see when/how far it gets pushed out. In reading the legalities - an employee (including family/friends) are allowed 25 units/yr.
There was also a note saying a new referal was coming this quarter - no details yet. -
maybe your order was just a configuration they had ready to ship.
-
I've been lurking around these EPP threads for a while and I wanted to tell you my experience buying with EPP (IBM Employee). I did not use the Meyers EPP, but another users serial number that I had found on the internet. So that's the first difference between what I experienced and what is going on for you all. I placed my order on 5/23 for an X60t and an extra power supply. At the time the estimated ship date was 6/7. I chose the free ground shipping for the order. The power supply shipped on 5/25 from Hong Kong and arrived via UPS Express shipping on 5/29 (weekend and memorial day holdup). My laptop shipped on 5/29 and arrived 5/31, directly from China via again (2 day basically) UPS Express shipping. So if your laptop is built to order, it is coming from overseas and you get express shipping no matter what you pay for. Not about the warranties, I paid for 3 year depot service with Thinkpad protection (accidental warranty) since I plan to be using the tablet in a lab environment. It took a week for the information to propagate into their database that we can look up, but I'm covered until 7/2010 on warranty end. Good luck to all of you.

My Girlfriend's Grandfather works for IBM and has agreed to use his discounts on the X61 I'm purchasing. As far as I know, this is completely legal under the current EPP. Does anyone know if it's possible to combine the EPP with the Visa Cardholders/AMEX TailorMade/Student discounts in any combination? I would like to tack on at least student, if not Visa or AMEX as well.

ok....i caved and called to check the status of mine.
Estimated ship date still shows 8/27. The csr told me it did indeed show a 8/27 ship but it was one of the orders caught up in the ship date "glitch" and should ship within 3 weeks of the order.
main point is that the order is still active with no red flags or sirens going off when the csr opened up my order.....
It's gonna ship......i can feel it.....LOL -
it's a lie.
i called, (my ship date shows 8/30) and they said it would ship sooner
i asked "Why don't you change it on the website"
they didn't know why, but couldn't change it, but promised it would ship 2-3 weeks after order
i don't believe them, as it's already been 2 weeks -
ha, my order is still going strong. Expected ship date of Monday. If it ships, fantastic. I am half expecting a delay email on monday though, lol.
-
Just want to give some hope to those that ordered with the Meyer EPP.
UPS showed up at my door today w/ the T61 that I ordered on 6/2 w/ 2 day UPS shipping. As soon as I got it, I couldn't even open it because I had to go to work
Hopefully the warranty will show up in the next week or so like some of you have said.

Its the two day shipping maybe? There seems to be a correlation with 2 day shipping and getting the orders quicker.

Some positive things:
Received a part of my order, a Thinkpad back pack on Monday.
Web sales sent me the following response email today:
Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the makers of ThinkPad and ThinkCentre products!
We have looked into your Lenovo order ******. We have been advised your order is expected to ship mid June (the week
of June 14th) due to system stock issues.
Looks like the 40% off will pan out. Still keeping the faith... -
Wait, how did you get 40% off?
-
25% memorial day sale + 15% EPP = 40%
-
I followed the instructions did link to the Lenovo store using the FW. And the pop-up was there all the time too. Does anything else need to be done after purchase. I mean I just entered the credit card info and waited for the order processes message and then i closed both the Pop-up and the order window. Is that correct?
Will the lenovo rep know about FW. Is it ok to ask him on the phone? -
My Meyers EPP purchase just shipped. It was an X60 order. I cancelled it though because I better deal this week, oh well!
-
order is still "in process" and set to ship on monday. there is hope!
-
^same here
-
Well I have just taken the Old Spice challenge with the EPP.
ESD August 2nd! Yikes! -
-
Lenovo probably had a crackdown, flagged orders that they saw at a particular time, and assumed that no further orders would be placed with that EPP account info. Has to be the case if post-fiasco Meyers orders are going through.
-
-
Yeah, the simplest explanation for the delays: it is the same problem in all cases that causes some orders to be delayed and some to go through. Whether they were ordered on Meyer or not has no effect.
-
What I find odd is that they only canceled some of the orders. Many others on here and I still have active orders, and some people are placing them now and getting them , it seems to be hit and miss as to whether or not they will cancel it. Mine is still active and set to ship out on Monday. As I have said before, I am going to wait on it. If it ships - sweet! I got a great deal on a great laptop. If it doesn't ship I am going to play it safe and continue looking at the new compal
-
Its win-win essentially as my order won't even ship until August...so by that time the price may plummet to the level of the EPP.
I would be more hesitant I suppose if I knew the order would ship right away with the warranty compromised still in question.
I saw the T60 at Circuit City today, and here's hoping T61 has a brighter screen. -
It's 6/11 and my laptop better ship or else I'm going to whine like the other members of this forum.
-
-
Mine hasn't changed yet, but I guess it will if yours did. Time to kick their ass!
-
My order (EPP, R61) was pushed back from a 6/11 ship date to a 6/28. With all the people getting instant ship dates using EPP within the last week or so, I'm seriously considering cancelling my order and placing it again. Does anyone think that would make sense?
-
that would be great if I remembered Meyers' serial number, lol. But it looks like they all ordered X61's, not T61's.
Mine still shows estimated ship of 6/11. I'll monitor it throughout the day. -
Mine still says 6/11. It better ship!!
If it doesn't, I'd cancel my order and do it again, but I'll never get as good a price as I did. I'm not in a rush, so I'll just wait. The thing I'm worried about though is if I wait a million years for them to re-enter the order into their computer and they find out I used Meyer, resulting in a cancellation, leaving my up-to-a-month waiting for absolutely nothing. -
on the lenovoblogs.com site, they say not to cancel and reorder, as they're giving priority to old orders over new orders
this is BS
we all know it would just be a pain for them if we all canceled and reordered.
as usual, they're thinking about themselves
