I switched my order from a 9 cell battery to a 6 cell on 4/23.

Ordered: 4/1
Estimated delivery before battery switch: 5/21 (!!)
Shipped: 4/26

Im kinda happy about switching to a 6 cell. Maybe I'll order a 9 cell as a spare from Newegg.... and enjoy the sleekness that comes with the 6 cell sitting flush against the notebook.

Btw, I wanted to make this switch over a week ago but customer support kept scaring me with: "if you change your order you will delay your shipping date."

This was total BS. I changed my order and the computer shipped three days later. And in making the battery switch, I was put in contact with a sales rep who could communicate much better than EVERYONE I spoke with from customer support.

 

UCLA... I thought the 6-cell stuck out also? I thought I read somewhere that only the 4-cell sits flush with the case?

Ok, looks like the 6-cell does stick out on the widescreen verison, but on the non-widescreens, the 6's are flush.

I think my T61 is keeping yours company... I have the exact same exception information, plus: 2:39 A.M. THE AIRLINE OFF-LOADED PACKAGES. I don't see any adverse weather in that area of China so I'm quite puzzled.

Visual, I ordered a 15 inch t61p, so I don't think the 6 cell battery will stick out

I'm sure the 6 cells are in short supply too, but my notebook shipped four weeks ahead of schedule when I switched from a 9 cell to a 6 cell.

 

My order with the 9-cell barttery has finally shipped...about 3 weeks ahead of estimated ship date.

That's what I have. It's not as bad as you think. I really like the Chicony keyboard and the Samsung screen is good after some calibration.

I ordered the 2 day shipping since it was free. And mine was shipped out from the HK airport (is yours shipping out from mainland China?). I've been tracking it since friday night and it looks like the package just breezed through custom at Louisville and was delivered to my door this morning before I went to class. I guess I was lucky.

 

Hey guys, I haven't posted updates but mine was ordered on 04/07 and got it 04/23. I have a T61P with 64-bit Bus/WWAN and I'm a happy camper!

BTW, just did a clean install and am getting 5 hours of battery on balanced power with wwan on.

 

what resolution? and how do you like it?

 

Samsung WSXGA and am extremely pleased. Have yet to see an LG screen yet, but shot an email to my personal lenovo agent and hoping for them to switch it out, but otherwise it's faster than my macbook pro with a better price. Bought it with 1 gig and bought G. Skill 4gb ram CL4.

This is my second T61, config is T9500, 4GB RAM, Vista Business 64-bit with 14.1" WXGA+ widescreen.
Loved my first one but wanted the newer processor. The first one, config in my signature, will be on ebay soon.
The combination of buying it with affiliate discount, spring discounts and an extra 10% coupon sealed the deal.

 

Yeah mine shipped from mainland China. Boo. It's currently on its way from Alaska to Louisville, I think. I'm hoping to get it on the 29th (today) but I doubt that's even remotely possible since the flight is scheduled to arrive at 9am or so in Louisville.

VisualFeast, I definitely sympathize that your package hasn't moved for 48 hours. Looks like shipping from mainland China is pretty bad.

Edit: It's in the Louisville Penitentiary now. Hope it gets to go on parole soon

 

2 and a half days later, it's now in the US! Hopefully it endured the inclement weather!

It's much faster than Lenovo's site. Plus you will always see "In process" on Lenovo's site until they ship the machine.

Well, it really depends. If you did not order anything that might delay your order, say a 9 cell battery. They usually ship within 5 days. And you will get the tracking information a little bit earlier on ibm's site. So just keep an eye on it.

 

Do these *usually ship within 5 days* include weekends? i orderd 05.01.08.
Scheduled Ship date of 05.27.08. However on the IBM site it shows a status of ready to ship; but with the same 05.27.08.

I'm wondering if there's anyone who has "In process". If so, that would imply that "Scheduled to ship" means it's already in a box waiting to be shipped out, not that the order is processed and is currently building.

I just ordered a T61with a 14.1" screen. People have mentioned to use https://www.ibm.com/account/orderstatus/myorders/login?cc=us to check on the order status. I tried entering my order number and customer number, and it says that it can not be found. Lenovo can find the order. Does this take time to show up on IBM?

 

I had the same issue, but it will show. Give it 24 - 48 hours. Unfortunately it doesn't give that much more detail than the Lenovo site, it just shows every item/part that is going into the order instead of the generic list you get when you check out.

 

I got my 61p a week now, builld quality is great. upgraded my ram, upgrading my harddrive by weekend
