Wow. I called and the rep gave me the new shipping date of 09JUN08 and yet here I watch a tracking number telling me that its ready to be picked up and delivered on 21MAY08. I didn't even have enough time to ask to upgrade the shipping.

It should be on the page before you 'checkout' and pay. It is also listed after you build you item and add it to your cart.

Take heed of previous postings though as that it might be a bit exaggerated; basically it gets you excited when you see it shipped early.

 

I too am in Canada. Ordered an X61t on May 9th (Friday, late)
Apparently it was sent to the production facility (in China) on May 12th (Monday), and it'll probably take perhaps a week until they get it out. After that it'll just take however long it takes to ship.

There is no estimated date on my order anywhere... Aside from the 2-3 weeks that is estimated. I called a rep and they said I should have the laptop in my hands after that time. Though I'm not so sure how reliable their word is

Last year when I ordered, they got the order processed and shipped within three or so days (sent order on Saturday, Processed on Monday, UPS Tracking by Wednesday).

So about 10 days from ordering on Saturday last year. Let's see if they can keep this up :O

 

I ordered my laptop Sunday (4 days ago). It currently says " Scheduled to ship" on the ibm status page. Does this mean that the order is complete, and will ship soon? Would calling a rep get me any more information?

Yes, I am on the US site.

 

You would think that's the case, but my rep told me June 9th, 2008 and when I checked with the IBM site later that day it showed a tracking number and that it was ready to ship. He was looking at the same information I was looking at.

I should have it this time next week unless it gets held up - which is completely possible with customs, plane delays, weather and more.

 

Sales rep said it's shipped today. The build ran out, that's why I had to wait so long, but, I should expect it on Monday, 19th May. Woot!

But thanks to others posting their experience I wasn't surprised. The timestamps are a bit off, but hopefully there's just a short delay. My memory and my laptop might arrive together. I also ordered a ultrabay caddy for another HD as it occured to me that I rarely use a CD/DVD. All my music is now done by d/l, NetFlix and TiVo are online, most software is downloadable, and my back ups are to an external drive with only certain folders being burned to DVD.

Nice.

Now only if I could get a OEM 9-cell battery.

Hmm... I guess they ship directly to the customer in the states. I don't think this is the case with Lenovo Canada. They have to route everything through Ontario first :|

 

I'm not sure about direct, they ship to a central hub and then if necessary a regional hub, and then to the city/final destination. It all depends on what they can send together and the method of delivery (Next Day, 3-Day Select, etc.).

An old instructor's son works for them and gave us a tour as part of our supply management/supply on demand class.

That's pretty odd. Did you get a confirmation from Lenovo that your item(s) have shipped? There should be a link to see your order and that link should have tracking information unless Lenovo Canada does something different.

Mine's stopped at a 'local FedEx facility' in Honolulu. Honolulu?! Well, at least my notebook gets some eyecandy before it comes...

 

Mine stopped in Alaska for a hot minute before travelling ever so close to be 'box blocked' by customs. Funny thing is is that UPS has it's own in-house customs clearance for Worldwide Expedited which is what Lenovo uses to ship...well, my laptop at least.

Does it show expedited for anyone else? On a more positive note I was able to pick-up a Lenovo 9-cell battery for $80 from the store next to the now defunct CompUSA, I guess they bought all of their liquidated items and are selling them at a great deal.

 

I'm pretty annoyed with Lenovo Canada. They have absolutely no online order tracking/status. It's pretty damn ridiculous. Their whole online ordering facility seems extremely shoddy and more fit for a small local shop.

I ordered a T61P + warranty and a dock on May 7th. Got a shipping confirmation 1 day later that's ridiculously short on information ("Contact us at: " - no phone number or e-mail! lots of missing fields). I assume that's either the dock or the warranty (from reading posts this seems to be probable). There's no way for me to check what shipped, track shipment or check what's the estimated shipment date on the rest of the parts, aside from calling them up, waiting and probably getting a vague answer in the process which I have no time for.

Coincidentally work just started ordering these notebooks and I got a chance to check one out in person. I think I'll enjoy it a lot.

Although you ordered it like 2 weeks ago... My X61t started shipping about 3 business days after I submitted it. I hope it ships as fast as yours, then it'll be one of the fastest

 

I used the free standard shipping. It's hard to imagine how fast the $50 shipping is.

That is absolutely insane. That's great that you got it so fast.

It took about a day to get to the states, but now the tracking shows it in two places at once, Alaska and Tennessee. Meanwhile I already have my RAM and 9-cell battery collecting dust. I'm hoping for a Monday delivery at the earliest.

Yes sir. I commented in an earlier post about it being held up by customs even though UPS Worldwide Expedited supplys an in-house customs to save time.

What's crazy is it arrived in AK around 1300, is in TN around 1500...so far, so good. Sweet. But then it leaves AK at 2200. All of this on the 15th of May. Frak me!

 

Mine stopped at Memphis, Tennessee as well, even though I ordered from Euclid Computers and shipping through FedEx. Memphis is probably a main shipping port for UPS and FedEx, maybe DHL as well.

 

Maybe it's shipped out already and it hasn't updated in the system and I'll have it on Monday. It's a pipedream, but a nice one. I've seen how UPS unloads trucks so I can only hope that my computer arrives in working condition...only for me pop it open to infuse 9-cell power, Vista 64, and 4GB of RAM stat.

 

Don't worry. It'll come...... eventually.

Nearly the same as Kaistrous except I have it wired for WWAN and its a 7200RPM drive and a DVD/RW + 3yr warranty, minidock + ultrabay sata

I hope it ships much sooner than June 9th though I'm prepared to wait.

 

EST ship dates are usually very conservative. Something like the worst case scenario kind of thing. So it'll ship earlier than the EST date.

Bloody hell. There's been some paperwork misunderstanding. And now it's due tomorrow!

 

gr. They had denied the credit card (thought it was fraud) and VISA/Lenovo didn't bother telling me. It didn't even show up on the Order Status page. I had to call and ask before I found out... Lucky I called....

 

It has finally cleared customs and is in the process of...frak, I don't know what it's in the process of doing right now. If I track it on my phone it shows its about 3 hours away. If I do it from a computer it shows its still in Memphis.

 

Do you have to be at home to receive the shipment? I'm away most of the day.

 

I know my driver from various deliveries and I live in a downtown loft area so when he delivers to the business downstairs he drops my stuff off there if I'm not home. They don't mind signing.
