Mine is too, a day before UPS's estimate, and only two weeks after initial order.

 

If its delivered today than it will be about 12 days from start to finish. I consider that pretty good since I ordered on a Friday.

Update: Its here. I'm adding the RAM and then its a clean install to Vista 64-bit.

 

I just ordered mine last night. I have a 9 cell battery with mine, that will probably delay the order since they are in short supply. Can you guys who ordered the machine recently with a 9 cell, tell me how long it too to get your machine? Thanks.

Cool, I searched around the forums and found out it does say "In Process" until it ships. Did yours ship any earlier than estimated? It seems like a pretty big trend for Lenovo to ship them out earlier than they estimate, if this thread is anything to go by Sure hope they do. Here are the exact specs of my system:

Update: Well since I used my debit card to buy the laptop. the charge from Lenovo USA has now showed up on my online statement as "Pending: Lenovo (UNITED STATES)". So luckily everything with billing has gone through =)

 

They usually ship earlier. The estimated date is like a worse-case-scenario kind of thing.

I've been waiting ever so patiently for my new computer to arrive. I've been practicing for its arrival by doing fresh installs of several linux distros on my current setup. My ultimate goal is to have 64-bit Gentoo running KDE4 on my thinkpad. I haven't gotten Gentoo to run on this computer yet, but I have a few more days to practice.

Yup the wait is excruciating! But it won't be long now..well, it probably will. Did everyone get 2 day shipping? Does regular ground tend to arrive in 3 days, or more like 5? All my ground shipping stuff from Amazon arrives in 3 days, usually.

 

My first machine arrived in a week, that includes from order, building, shipping and in my hands. I was pretty impressed. The estimated ship date was much longer, don't remember exactly though. My current machine has a ship date of 6/20/08 and I ordered on 5/19/08 That is a long wait and it might actually be accurate since I have the 9cell in my order which are in short supply.

A side note. I think you should have bought your machine with your credit card, it is much safer and you have a lot more tools at your disposal if there is a problem. i don't think it is a good idea to buy with a debit card. Just my 2 cents...

 

Well, my adv mini dock and ultrabay sata adapter are shipping. The laptop still says June 9th... I'll have the dock all plugged in... and just waiting... all alone

 

Just got the Thinkpad around 2.5 hours ago and already well pleased. Eventually a Vista Clean Install and more ram will be installed. Here are some pictures.

Overall, VERY pleased with this notebook! Incredibly fast, plenty of RAM, followed some of the tweaks to speed up Vista. No screen wobble, little backlight bleed.

This is my first experience with Vista on my own machine, and I am very pleased so far, with one exception: the alerts to allow programs to run. Thanks to all t61 owners who gave great advice regarding the computer. Lenovo has a satisfied customer!

I've been using a 17" notebook for the last ~three years, so I was hoping a 15" notebook would be a bit easier to carry around. I didn't realize this thing was going to be so small and light. It's great

Most of the of the components feel pretty solid in terms of build quality. The keyboard feels fantastic, and this screen hinges are tight. A few of the less-used buttons and switches (battery lock, etc.) feel really cheap, but hopefully it won't be an issue.

The screen is okay. I have the WUVGA screen and I'm loving the resolution. Its bright enough for me, but I like less bright screens so my eyes don't burn out. The grain is totally there. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it's definitely a downgrade from my three-year-old notebook. The viewing angles aren't great. There's no angle that gives a uniform brightness, but again it's just something to get used to. I've certainly used worse, but I'm used to better.

Overall I'm pleased. The quality mostly lives up to my high expectations that were set by IBM's reputation. It's not perfect, but it was the right price.

 

I'm so jealous of all you guys with shipped T61s. I ordered mine 5/18 and still it has not been shipped!

I don't get it. I ordered before lots of people on here and still have an ESD of July 9th. Does Lenovo ship their "student/education" laptops from a different area or do they meter them differently? I wish I had ordered from the regular site.

... At least I saved $1.40 ordered from the Student area. I may call tomorrow or something... Think I should or not?

I just called them up to check on the status and she said it should be shipped, in a worst case scenario, the week of 6/12. I don't get why as the website says 6/02 as the estimated ship date She said not to go by the website as that is a random date..is there anything in my order that could be delaying it? I really hope it ships out sooner.

Hi, I just ordered a T61 today, and when you go to check out the order status it asks for a 7 digit Customer Number and a 6 digit Order Number. What I recieved in my email is a 10 digit Customer Number and a 10 digit Order Number. Any ideas here guys?

 

You seem Canadian. I had the same fun. There's no correlation between the numbers at all. You just need to phone 1 866 968 4465 with the Order Number anytime from Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm Eastern time.

Just got mine. Ordered 5/07, apparently shipped on 5/15* and received on 5/23. This is a Canadian order, to Vancouver. My dock is still en route.

* I received no shipping confirmation, aside from a e-mail telling me to register for the warranty... had to call and was pleasantly surprised that it was on its way. Actually I did get a shipping confirmation like half a day after placing my order. That didn't seem right. Overall their Canadian branch is a bit of a mess.

Yeah, I've been dealing with the Canadian side as well... They don't really have too much as far as online support is concerned. You just have to phone in with your order number every few days
