I ordered mine on 5/25...they had billing problems with AMEX...Lenovo emailed me about the declined charge (security) on Wednesday of last week..they finally got back to me yesterday (I have no idea why it took them a week to respond to my messages--phone to cust. service and to their own department)...even though AMEX approved the charge when I called them Last Wednesday. Lenovo seems to be terrible in terms of picking up the phone (at least their Credit Card Services division).

Anyway (sorry about the vent)...so since they approved the charge yesterday, 6/3, even though my order has a ship date of 6/9...I don't know when it will arrive. The order status still says "In Process."

As I mentioned in the "fast delivery" thread my machine arrived today! This was a VERY welcome surprise, because I really need it for a project. I have been watching the Lenovo site closely as well as calling every few days for a status update. The site still says the order is in progress with a estimated ship date of 6/18. This is also what the people on the phone have been telling me.

So imagine my surprise when it showed up today! So far everything looks good and there don't appear to be any problems with the unit but I will be doing a more thorough check later. I never received any shipping notification from Lenovo, and it's a little disconcerting that their phone people don't appear to have any idea whats going on, but at this point I am just happy to have my ThinkPad!

Just called lenovo and the rep said that my laptop is ready and will be shipped on Monday!!! The rep also said that the ETA is 6/23 but it will for sure be earlier than that.

I'll be tracking that package very closely for the next couple of days.

 

Got home today and had a package waiting for me! It finally arrived, earlier than what the rep had told me.

I got my T61 in June of last year, with specs in the sig. It is the rpi school laptop, and since IBM and RPI work together on many aspects, we were able to get the T61's first. Let me tell you I hate the thing. It is slow, build is bad and it just sucks in every aspect. I want to sell the damn thing since it has only been used for like an hour, but I have to sell it to a rpi student cause of software.

It has been in the warehouse since last Monday...my friend interned at Dell when we were in college around 2001. He said it takes Dell ~a day to built a machine. Majority of the time is to load the softwares. Only God knows why Lenovo takes more than 2 weeks to built a machine....

Mother of balls. The estimated shipping date used to be 6/12, but got pushed back a few days ago. When I called Lenovo, they told me that my T61 would ship on 6/19, which I thought was awwwwright.

But today I called again because I was lonely and bored and felt like talking to someone in India. "Richard" told me that my laptop was scheduled to ship on the 27th. I thought that was unacceptable and asked why, and Richard told me that they were having problems with their 6 cell batteries (which I ordered).

Man I want my T61.

NuKayon, thanks for that update, but that's the worst news I heard all week. I ordered mine t61 with the 6 cell battery and 9 days AFTER you! Dang you Lenovo!!!! This pretty much means I shouldn't be expecting it anytime soon.....

 

that pretty much explains my shipping delay as well. i was curious as to what part i ordered was actually causing it... but seems certain it's the 6 cell battery now.

i was somewhat upset u could not get a 9 cell battery at all, and then the 6 cell is delayed too.


It's interesting as I ordered a Dell Vostro 1500 at work on the 30th of May, and that is not expected to ship till the 2nd of July! Wonder if it's something with batteries or an entirely different issue.....

Well, I just checked my order status and now it has an estimated ship date of 7/23 and my credit card has still not been charged (I have had my machine since 6/6). Do they not realized they already shipped my notebook? I wonder if another one will show up late July...

 

So today I called Lenovo 4 times and spoke with 3 different people. One of the guys I spoke to told me that my laptop was delayed because of some "battery constraints," and another told me there were issues with the screen. Lenovo, wtf.

Before I made my last call, I switched my office chair with a bouncy ball and decided to speak like Urkel to whoever answered my call. I asked the Indian lady a very specific question, and that was whether my T61 had been actually built yet, or if it still was part numbers on some warehouse computer. I asked this question three times and got the exact same scripted BS answer each time, which was that my order was "in process," and doesn't even come close to answering my question.

But then my order was put on the "critical list" after I threatened to cancel. When I asked what the critical list actually was, I got some fragmented, scripted malarchy about how it'll be changed to "top priority" over at the warehouse.

i think Lenovo is a pretty cool guy. eh can't ship laptops and doesn't afraid of anything.

 

Update: Ordered 16-Jun, Estimated ship date 21-Jul; Lenovo says it shipped (UPS Ground) today (19-Jun)
