I'll be drooling if they manage to fit a 4850 into it. But what's the point of having so much power in a 13". :D

Been there, done that :( I have the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go and the latest patch for the Witcher.

The info on disabling powermizer is a few posts back, because I put it there ;), so you can be sure I already disabled it. Also, I always play with my notebook on a table, as it can go quite warm :)

Unfortunately none of this is too helpful...

TrueSilvo, aboreal, I just made the 3dmark06 test and it gives me 5875 which is good. If I were you I would try the following:

Fresh install of OS (I'm running vista business x64 and I can say it works just perfect).
    Latest drivers from nVidia.
After that check with the alt + TAB method that the GPU clocks are at max in gpu-z when you play that game you say has problems.
Also you can try the logging feature of gpu-z and chech for temperatures. If gpu temp is over 90 it can throttle to get it back to normal. If that is the case maybe the cooling system is not doing its job properly and you can either try adding some thermal grease (and voiding the waranty) or send it to waranty so that they can do it.
If none of the above works I think you either have a faulty GPU or that game doesn't play nice with the GPU.
I hope some solution works for you. You can find me on YM if there's anything I can do to help.

Now, 3D MARK06 show´s 5900 points. And The Witcher its smooth on Medium-High at 1200x800. Perfect.

    THANKS AGAIN TO AVOID

    Hello every body,
I'm very interesting in the notebook.
I would like to know if the speed of the CPU decrease the duration of the battery. Is the camini battery will be longer than the Tarsia one ? Can we buy a bigger battery link a 9 cells?
And I'm also a bit worry about the warranty.

Question for avoid : "Do Lg provide vista X64 ?" and all the drivers ?
    thank you

In my case the silent mode was always off - I know better. The witcher however was still causing problems. Only after installing the newest drivers from laptopvideo2go (185.20) and applying a small update (so called "EAX fix") from thewitcher.com ( link) the game became playable. Now it runs like hell - 1280x800 with max details and 4xAA, 8xAF. :D

Both processors have the same TDP - 25W, so the P9500 should not use much more power than the P8400.

The LG warranty lasts two years, out of which the first year is international, so you needn't worry :)

The drivers for vista x64 are available through lgservice.com and they work well with windows 7 beta as well.

To sum up, you really shouldn't hesitate, the P310 is a gorgeous piece of engineering :D

But this drivers are stable with 9600M GT ? coz in the web didnt mention about the total compatibility from this drivers to the vga. Even are some users that r having problems with itch drivers.

Have you tested the last drivers froma Nvidia for Nvidia 9600M GT? 179.48 version.

    Thanks TrueSilvo,
I also would like to know if the temperature doesn't go to high when playing ? And if some one have freeze due to high temperature ?
Can we have vista 64 with the laptop or only the 32bit ? Because if vista 64 is provide, it's better to take the Tarsia one.
    Does a 9 cells battery exist ?

Well, it gets pretty hot but that is normal. It doesn't get hotter than 90 degrees which I undertand is the safe maximum for 9600m GT (non official source, nVidia doesn't post that kind of info - at least not for end users).
The notebook comes with Vista 32bit multi language (you choose the language on first boot). From the licensing perspective it is perfectly legal (that is official info) to install Vista 64bit on the LG P310 but you need the install DVD. You can either purchase the install kit or you can find it on the internet ... I can also tell you where to get a copy of a clean install disk since it is not illegal if you already have a license. Just find me on !YM cause I prefer to keep the server that is hosting it without load.

Now I'm don't know if I put 250€ more to have the Tarsia because this one will be perfect with the 64bit.
How long does the battery run for office + wifi?

Is camini perfomance suffers a lot, or a bit?

What about colors - Camini vs Tarsia - different lid colors?

I think, for gaming both are very close... The difference can be in some programs that need more cpu power, only that.

For the money it had to be the Tarsia. And with my UK keyboard im realy happy. Quite happy that my bank told me 3-4 days transfer and did it same day and notebook.de told me 3-4 weeks and did it same day. Maybe my luck is all used up now and the thing wont work :)

Any way anybody got pics of the PSU so i can try and find a suitable uk wire?

Now just got to order L4D and then im happy.

Thanks for all the help in this forum and i will still keep coming back to help others. Im just happy I dodged the bullet that was the studio 1340 XPS

Good to hear that things are going well for you. I ordered 3 units ( 2 for friends ) and they received payment almost 3 weeks ago but they still have not shipped and claim to not have the unit in stock!!

To add more information, I ordered 1 Tarsia and 2 Camini.

Avoid, do you know how much RAM can I agree to my P310 Camini?

I heard that PM45 chipset allows even 8 GB RAM DDR3.

That´s true? If it is, should I let my laptop to LG for it? or any Pc-Shop can do it?

    thanks

in theory 8GB is the maximum for the P310. however I doubt you will see any important performance gain with more than 4GB of RAM.
memory upgrade with LG would be very expensive I think and it is not a very complicated operation, I think a well known good pc shop can do it without any problem. you can even do it if you have the upgrade modules (it would be 2 x 4GB ddr3 sodimm 1066MHz [minimum] modules) some basic tools, a little tech knowledge and some courage :)

however, as I told you, I wouldn't do it for mine since I am 100% sure there are no real gains.

So... with 3 GB RAM DDR3 would be enough?

Maybe 1GB more in future could be fine?

I've been using the official nvidia drivers before. 185.20 is not causing any problems in my case. Since I installed them I've been playing The Witcher, PES 2009, Burnout Paradise and Mirrors Edge (with PhysX activated). No problems at all.

I've been switching to Everest a few times while playing and the temperatures were: CPU - up to 61 degrees, GPU - up to 65 degrees. No freezes whatsoever. The air outgoing from the laptop (on the left-hand side) can get quite hot though. Fortunately the keyboard and its surroundings do not overheat.

I've heard somewhere that having a non-symmetrical RAM config (such as in the case of 3GB - 1+2) would not allow your system to use dual channel capabilities? This would mean a possible slow down of your system. I don't know if that's true. Anyone with sufficient knowledge on this topic might confirm or deny?

    Hi TrueSilvo,

The drivers that r u using have better performance for gaming than the last Nvidia Official?

Im not sure about that affirmation of dual channel. I thought the important factor for it was the own chipset (PM45). But let Avoid resolve our doubts...

From reading through bits of this thread I've figured out that you can really only buy this computer through Germany, is that correct? If I'm in the United States would it be difficult to get the computer from germany and be able to get it working properly?

Also thanks for the pic's avoid. Any idea what the fitting that connects to the psu is called? if not looks like im buying a standard eu to UK power transfer adapter. Is there any danger in using one of those? I would prefer to get a UK cable though. Hmmm

Ok according to this site below its called and c5? please correct me if im wrong.

Lord Turel, for UK I think you need something that on that website is called UK2 - BS13/5-H05VVF3G0,75-C5/2,00m, black if you want all that wire from the outlet to the power brick. If I were you I would just get a plug adapter, I think those are much easier to get.
Aboreal, I forgot you had the camini with only 3GB of ram.
Yes, based on experience and what I've read, having symetrical and identical specd memory modules can lead to a better perfomance. This can go as high as 10-12% with AMD based systems that have the memory controller integrated in the CPU and up to 5-7% on intel systems that support dual channel configuration (core i7 not included, that's something else).
So if you want you can get another 2GB module to put insted of your 1GB module. You can get some more performance after that but I wouldn't count on too much gain.
If you need the specs for the modules mine are Samsung M471B5673DZ1-CF8 @ 533MHz (1066MHz dd) 7-7-7-20 timings. I don't know about yours but I gues it's the same for the 2GB module.

I don't know what it's called but it's the same old power cable you get in any other laptop, so no worries :)

You can also buy from Poland, but it proved to be quite difficult to find a shop that will ship abroad :( I believe you could also buy it in Portugal.
You have to remember, however, that additional tax and customs fee will apply in your case, which may significantly increase the price of the machine :(

I don't really know, haven't done any fps or 3dmarks comparisons. I installed them together with the fix for the witcher and it started working, so I assume it was either the fix or the drivers, which helped. I just always go for the newest drivers there are...

I´m thinking to buy a Cooling Pad, concretly this model: Enermax Aeolus.
Do u think its a good idea?

Other question: What do u think about doing overclock to P310? Can I diminish standard of laptop life?

    Thanks

aboreal, I'm not really into laptop coolers, enermax is a good manufacturer so I gues it is good, I just didn't ever use a cooler for notebooks and I don't think I ever will.
also I don't think I'll overclock my P310, it is very good as it is and it is also pretty hot. I don't think you have room for overclock; maybe with that cooler you want to buy :)
but if you do please post the results

bottom line: if you are satisfied with the laptop as it is why overclock it? it is just perfect! ;)

A little question about turbo memory. I got the Tarsia version, and I don't see anything related to turbo memory in the device manager, which means (from what I understand from intel doc) that there is no turbo memory module installed. Turbo memory sticker but no turbo memory installed ? Huh ?

Also I noticed that the webcam gamma correction setting is not correctly restored. Am I the only one?

According to notebook.de from lg service there is no 9 cells battery. In fact there is not much in the spare part list to ask for atm.

Indeed, dual channel mode works only when using 2 identical memory modules. Though, many articles stated that the PC core 2 duo is far less sensitive to RAM speed and dual channel mode than previous Intel & AMD processors .

    Hi Avoid,

Maybe one day I´ll encourage to overclock it. At u correctly said, at the moment the P310 it´s well as is one...

Oups... one question: Whitch product do u use for clean the black surface ? Ill try with broken cloth (for cleaning) and it doesnt seem to be good enough. Also I probed with liquid for cleanliness, but also didnt work so good, when I clean even spots stay.

For cleaning I use moist TFT - LCD wipers made by a company in Romania, they're pretty good but it gets dirty again every time I open the lid :)
For transport I hope I will get a STM Rogue small backpack. The shop should send it soon from the UK.

I'm trying to get a Tarsia with a US Keyboard, delivered to the USA. I've emailed the polish shops mentioned earlier in the thread, but haven't gotten a reply in the last week.

Has anyone had any luck getting one shipped to the USA, if so, where from?

    Thanks

I bought a Case Logic Sleeve. It's very solid and has an additional pocket which is just big enough to put in an external DVDRW drive and my VX220 :)

When carrying on longer distances I put the sleeve into my old Case Logic backpack (15,4"). That is what I call a well protected laptop ;)

It always amazes me when people just don't want to make money, especially in such difficult times :( And how about the German shops, guys?

I havent got enough good words to say about notebook.de so far (may change when i receive my item) If you do email anyone there try and ask for Rick as he seems the fastest person to respond to any questions and is willing to go that extra step with customer service (except when he isnt at work lol) I dealt with afew people there with this order and he did seem to go the extra mile to get me info.

None of the polish sites contacted me either.

I confirm Rick is the guy! :)

When I was in contact with notebook.de he was very quick to respond, we managed to exchange about five emails per day.
