1. Not sure. I don't work on the battery that much. Didn't have a chance to test that yet. Have a look at the review on notebookjournal ( translated to ENG). They say 167 minutes under load, but this seems exaggerated.
2. 5400RPM
3. The motherboard should handle any processor dedicated to the montevina platform, but due to heat issued I wouldn't recommend putting enything else than the P series processors (25W TDP). So I think that the top one would be the P9600. However, the difference in performance will not be proportional to your investment.
4. IMHO the silver desktop and keyboard look very good. Fortunately it is not as shiny as in Toshiba, so no fingerprints. It is comparable to the design of Dell XPS M1330.
I confirm, the bottom case is definitely not plastic or aluminium. I think it's Magnesium. For sure it's some sort of a metal. Both the desktop area (with palm rest) and LCD lid are plastic.

Hello every body,
I'm steal waiting for my notebook. Now I'm looking for all the drivers I should download for the vista 64bit version.
Could you help me out ? Thanks -
-

heres a pic

The procedure of changing the disk in P310 is completely different.
-
Thanks but Poland website is not available, I'll wait for it.

The 9300 is the only version sold in Scandinavia, unfortunately, and ordering from abroad is just too risky I think. Anyway, I haven't seen anything else around with similar specs in that form factor/weight class, if you have, please do tell... But you bring up a valid point about strain, I'm a bit concerned as to how the 9300 will perform when watching HD video. Time will tell...
-
Also, the 13 inch DELL XPS both old and new models might be interesting. However, the old one is not so powerful any more and the new one has quite weak hybrid graphics and tends to run very hot. -
Finally I find them.
But What should I install on my computer? Because some of those things are already install by vista itself, aren't it ?
And for Nvidia drivers do I need to install them or the one on Nvidia.com is better? -
After the installation of Vista you should install LG Intelligent Update and it will install all the necessary drivers and software for you.
Regarding the graphics card driver, it's always a good idea to install the newest drivers available, so you should visit nvidia.com and download latest 64bit drivers. -
I was just wondering (may sound noobish) if they have the P310 in Russia...?
-
Look for resellers on this page: http://ru.lge.com/index.do
-
Thanks, seems that they have only up to P300 for now.

Hi guys, a quick update: (Please keep in mind I haven't really been following the thread recently)
I still love my P310, but it isn't perfect, of course. For now, the biggest issue I have with it is that the silver paint on the keyboard is chipping. I do not have long fingernails, and never was aware that I had any bad habits while typing, but several of the keys have had the paint chipped away in an unsightly manner. I wish LG had put in a spill-proof keyboard. My old laptop was an Asus, and I'd bought a keyboard protector from kbprotector.com cut to match the product, but this is not available for LG laptops, at least not from any reseller that I can find. Something like that would help prevent any liquid accidents, and would also help prevent discoloration and chipping. If anybody has found a place (German is fine too, if they ship to the U.S.) that sells similar products (silicon skin type things made to fit the P310) I would love to hear about it.
Another problem is that occasionally the screen brightness adjustment keys (function + home and end) do not work.
Other than that, it is a great machine for me. The screen is bright and beautiful, games play well on it, and it has a phenomenal weight (I'm a huge fan of not having an internal CD drive if it can cut down weight like this, as I very rarely ever use the CD drive).
I use the Shinza Zeroshock III sleeve for 13inch and it fits like a dream. I'd been worried it would be too small but not at all. It is better than most sleeves I've seen before because it is semi-rigid and I feel it protects very well, instead of the usual flimsy sleeves you see on the market.
Hope that helps anybody trying to make a decision still! -
-
It's a fit like a glove, and not really meant for including peripherals including the A/C adapter or a mouse. It is perfect for protecting the laptop body, not really for fitting other things in.
-
@seajewel:
I'm very sorry that you are experiencing such problems with this phenomenal lappy. I haven't noticed any of the articulated issues. Hope my keyboard will soldier on.
You say that only the brightness buttons don't work, while others (eg. silent/normal mode or Wifi/BT) do? -
Thanks for the update, Seajewel!
Something I've been wondering, is there any hiss/crackle/static from the headphone jack? I keep hearing about notebooks with this problem, and I am absolutely flabbergasted manufacturers actually don't make sure this doesn't happen... it practically renders the computer useless as a media device... -
can a dongle bluetooth nano on the notebook can be fit in the sleeve (zeroshock III)
-
I just received the notebook, than I try to install vista 64, but the product key say it is not a valid one.
Is it normal ?
And also LG intelligent do not find any updates. -
I just received my laptop too and it is totally awesome. As for battery life I reached 3 hours without changing anything (I.E. wlan on, bluetooth on, and balanced energy savings) Though I did increase screen brightness one step after an hour maybe when I found where to do so. Lol. Currently at 3 hours 10 minutes and the battery meter says 7% left. Been doing office, Matlab and games installing during that time. With power saving and a CPU under volt I bet this baby could hit the 4 hour mark or more. :] Taking notes in class will be no problem.
Empereurrom7
Did that Vista install come with the laptop?... Sounds fishy. -
empereurrom7 if you installed vista 64 from the iso I gave you it should work. it is vista x64 business. if you have the tarsia model or any computer that has a valid licence for vista business it has to work. if it says that it cannot be automatically activated over the net that's something else and you should activate by phone without any problem. hope this helps.
-
Is it possible to under volt P8400 in P310? What does it do? -
Is it just me or does anyone else think that a 2.8 Ghz CPU match with a 9600M GT is a lil over powering on the CPU end. It should be like a 9800M GS and 2.8ghz.
-
niffcreature ex computer dyke
besides, a 2.8 ghz processor can still do non graphics related things faster with a 9600 gt -
It was a mistake because I used a OEM business and my license is a home premium.
I have lots of problem getting good drivers for vista64.
I can't use the Fn buttons, and nvidia drivers doesn't want to be install. -
-
Hey Negative, congrats on getting your laptop! What's the temperature like with the 9300? And (sorry to be nagging about this) could you maybe try listening for hiss/static/hard disk noise through the headphone jack? Thanks!

I finally got my laptop. Have not done any tests on it yet but can provide the following information:
1. No custom duties to import a laptop from Germany to US. May still have to pay sales tax.
2. You don't get to keep the German keyboard if you pay for a US International keyboard.
3. The display is much better than the LED display on the M1330 when I got it in January 08 (fiasco with different panel manufacturers)
4. The software suite that LG provides (updater, OSD, etc) is the best/cleanest I've seen to come w/ a laptop so far. But it is still unnecessary bloat.
5. If the USB plug on the external DVDRW is upside down you can rotate it by pulling it taut turning it at the anchor point on the drive.
6. Windows 7 x64 asks me to replace my battery: "There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly." Issue still occurs on build 7057, but not while plugged in to AC.
7. If there is interest, I can upload the set of drivers I used for Windows 7 x64. Most drivers will not include installers.
Update: I will try to keep adding to here as I notice things -
. Also thanx for the update on the customs, hopefully you don't get that sales tax though
. So how much did you end up paying for it with shipping? also, did you order the uk version on notebook.de? Or did you pay extra for a US one?
Thanx -

I will be back about the sound. -
I purchased the International keyboard from notebook.de. The point I want to clarify here is that there is no UK keyboard. There is only an US International keyboard. It is actually a P300 US keyboard: AEW36504802.
I had hoped to be able to keep the German keyboard since I am paying extra for the US keyboard. -
Hello!
I would like to add my request as well:
So, how much did you end up paying when you purchased from Germany?
Thanks! -
-
i wish newegg would get this laptop. if i could get it in the USA id have one already. so far it seems like if your in the usa to get one of these you need to do backflips.

Well, now you have 2 people to split the shipping costs.

Just so you know, I have no complaint on audio jack quality. -
About 64bit drivers:
I had no problems whatsoever installing Win7 64bit. I used Vista driers and software for that. Everything is working: OSD, BatteryMiser, etc. -
-
-
It seems that your drive has the cable mounted the wrong way. I don't have to twist it.
Intelligent Update proved not to be intelligent enoughIt doesn't run on Win7. However, it seems unnecessary if you already have all the drivers installed. Windows Update and Action Center will be far more efficient in taking care of windows patches for you...

Well, I've been reading some posts on this board and another(german) board:
http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/showthread.php?t=560028
and I have to say I'm a bit worried about the frequency of people experiencing different kinds of trouble with the P310, anything from strange fan noises to poor sound quality to keyboard malfunctions, some even returning their notebook to the shop, and I get the overall impression that build quality and reliability just isn't the best with this (and other) LG's. Support (driver updates) also seems lacking to some extent. I'm wondering if any of the ppl on this board who own the P310 have similar experiences? Seems to me, as great as the P310 looks on paper, it might give me more hassle than it's worth... -
From a physical build perspective, the chasis is well built enough. There is some flex on the palm rest but this is normal for a 13" laptop and the keyboard isn't exactly the best but is still average or better. One of the issues is that many buyers of LG P310 may be coming from a 15/17" desktop replacement laptop family and are too used to physically abusing the machine. This is a 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) 13.3" laptop, and should be treated as such. If you sit on it, it will probably break. -

empereurrom7, you got it got it shipped to france from http://www.prono.com.pl/ right? what kind of keyboard did it come with, german, is there a polish or french or uk? and what language might i ask did you contact them and how?

Does anybody know where is the slot for "Intel Turbo Memory" module in P310 notebook?
On the sticker that is located on palm wrest there is an info that P310 with "Intel Memory Turbo" module is available for some markets. -
Hey Negative, still happy with the purchase I hope
Sorry to be bothering you with all these questions, but do you have an opinion on the heat development in the chassis (palm rest, underside), at low/high stress? Thanks for all your previous info, btw!
