Are these numbers independent of whether the notebook is in silent or normal mode? In other words, does RMclock override those settings?

RMClock seems to override the windows settings for power profiles in some aspects. Estimated battery life is lowered by 25 minutes when changing from battery life to performance profile. (Don't know the exact terms) But it does not seem to affect the clock speed in any way. I assume that some visual effects are disabled in battery life profile.
The 100 MHz underclock I was talking about is because RMClock does not recognise half multipliers that are present on the P8400, the other underclock is dynamic (Thermal throttling) and is a good thing. I always run in silent mode. (I.e. fans on all the time)

well I have just forked out for one of these, hope it's gonna be as good as it sounds! Im wondering how hard is it to swtich between the 9600 and the 9100M to save power? I read here that it has the 9100M for less demanding tasks. Also does the BIos support custom profiles? I plan to underclock it for when im on the move and need more battery life.

    Hi everyone!
I have read about 75% of this thread, and wow...tons of comments...lol
I got a few question, so please, if anyone can answer them, id be really grateful
    1. "Im wondering how hard is it to swtich between the 9600 and the 9100M to save power? I read here that it has the 9100M for less demanding tasks." does this mean the the P310 has both IGP and GPU?
    2. What processor it uses? Ive read that it has a P9500, P8400, P8600, T9500, T9600...which one is it?
    3. How do you do with power supply? I live in south america...so, any suggestions?
    4. I think i could ship it to the UK and ask my aunt to bring it, so, how is shipping?
    5. well, what keyboard does it have? The german QWERTZ? or US version or UK version?
    6. OS is 32 or 64?
    7. How does the P310 compare to the SXPS13?
    8. are there any problems we should be aware of?
    9. How much was it? Including shipping (to the UK or France) and VAT
    10. I read that they were discontinued, is this true?

thanks for all the help you can provide...im really interested in this laptop, since it is beautifully spec-ed, i like the looks and it satisfies my needs.

thanks a lot to everyone in advance

    1. No, thats not the case. Only 9600M GT is present.
    2. Depending on the confguration it is either P8400 (German Camini and Polish model) or P9500(German Tarisa).
    3. No problems, even though I don't know what you use there. The power supply is capable of input voltages of 100-240V. The only issue for you might have is the change of cable.
    4. There have been some people who shipped to UK from Germany. No problems.
    5. In notebook.de you may order the US keyboard, but it's quite a long wait and costly as well.
    6. Unfortunately 32 bits. Fortunately drivers for 64bits are available on the LG website (tested on Win7).
    7. I think it is comparable, in general most built in cameras are not to great.
    8. Keyboard is a little delicate (i scratched my "a" key, other users also reported keyboard damage). Also, the batterylife is not impressive, but given the specs it's inevitable.

About the prices and discounts - dunno, I bought in Poland...

Hope you will be able to get this baby, it's really awesome!

I did a tutorial on a Polish forum - nhl.pl. I will try to translate it, but cannot promise anything. However, there are some pics, which should be pretty self-explanatory :)

    EDIT

You can also try Googe Translate, I think it will be accurate enough - How to swap HDD in LG P310 (English version).

@luckas: Hell, GT is so nice you can even translate it to Romanian :D - tutorial translated to Romanian.

    Enjoy!

Personally i'd like to be able to tweak it so when im on longer journeys and just using it for minimal stuff like watching movies or broswing the web it will use minimal gpu and cpu volts and clock speeds for extra battery life, and the rest of the time i'd obviously be using everything as normal.

Just use Performance on demand settings with RMclock and it is dynamical. For me the CPU is almost at the lowest voltage allowed when on highest throttle.
Good luck with tweaking gpu... Personally I'd not touch that.

Negative, just want to say thanks for your posts on the P310. Helped me make my decision and I'm glad I did. Helluva machine, just received today.

I'll be setting up a Windows Xp 64-Bit/Windows 7 64-Bit dual boot this weekend and will post my results. Vista just doesn't cut it. Also hoping to get some benchmarks on gaming as well and the 9300MGS.

    Hey guys
My friend recently picked up the LG P310 here in canada (with the 9300m GS naturally), anyway he pointed me to this site that has very detailed reviews -- the catch, of course, is it's in korean.

I guess you can still run it through google translator to get a gist of what they're saying but it's quite informative (tech specs/screenshots are in english mostly)
    http://www.notegear.com/Content/con...0,0,,,,&TNum=859&kind=2&SearchString=&Search=
(they reviewed the 9600m GT unit there)

They do a 10page performance review, and before that, a 10page style/looks review. The style/looks review for the XNote P510 is also out (afaik performance is not), you can take a look here (lots of nice closeups):
    http://www.notegear.com/Content/con...opage=1&TNum=891&kind=2&SearchString=&Search=

    enjoy :)

Well I've run some tests with WinXP 64 and it does work fine. Just don't expect to install a lot of apps without running into compatibility issues. I'm going to leave some instructions on how to do it in the P310/P300 Win XP x64 thread.

In the end, I'm going back to WinXP 32 and then installl Windows 7 beta for DX 10 and extra memory when I need it. 7 Beta is pretty stable.

Hey. I will be getting a P310 in less than a week from now and I have a few questions before I get it so i know what to do once its here. First is where can I get 32/64 XP/VISTA/WIN7 drivers for it ?

I have a trouble deciding what OS should i get as I will have 4GB of Ram. Will 4GB make any differece in gaming like Crysis or GTA4 ? I mostly want to do DX10 gaming so I know that I will have to get Vista or Win7 Beta for that... The question is that I heard that there are compatibily issues with 32/64 XP/Vista OSs. Could you give me a bit of an inside into it ?

Also I will be gettig a P310 model with P8400 and I want to upgrade it later to P9500 2.5 or T9600 2.8, which one should I go for ? I know P9500 is 25W so it will give me longer battery but if I undervolt T9600 will it match P9500 in any way in terms of battery life? Is there significant difference between P9500 and T9600 in terms of performance ? I've read from some review that P9500 in P310 is automaticly overclocked to 2.6Mhz .. is that true ? I will be getting a CPU off ebay and they are basically the same price.. So which one should I go for ? (Note: I will be probably overclocking 9600M gt so I guess CPU heat should be low) . It will be a while untill I upgrade CPU as first I want to get Segate Momentus 7200RPM 500GB. Do you think HD upgrade is more worthy than CPU at this time ?

Cheers ! I cant w8 when I get my hands on P310 :D It seems like a truly remarkable laptop :)

You can get drivers from the lg website.

You should buy the P Series processor. There is no real difference in performance, but the heat issue is important, given that the laptop is already quite warm... For this reason I would also advise against overclocking the GPU. Believe me, that while playing top games, the bottom of the chasis can get hot enough...

In general, I believe that P8400 is fast enough for now. I think of replacing it no sooner than in 1 year (if ever).

About the HDD, of course the new Momentus is a good idea. However, there is no spectacular difference in performance compared to the original drive (5400RPM Fujitsu). If I were to upgrade now, I would go for a good SSD... :D

Ok time to experience LG customer service. So far i have had to make an international call to holland. Then they wanted me to eail the issue. Looks like my lappy is getting more air miles then me. My card reader died last night. It is constantly regestering that there is a card inserted when there isnt. My boot time seems to have increased by about 40-60 secs since this. Im guessing this is because the lappy is trying to read the card info on boot but there isnt one. Also it wont read any cards inserted now. Im not a happy bunny. :(

    Bydus, on your question:

First is where can I get 32/64 XP/VISTA/WIN7 drivers for it ?

Lg website has all the basics. The Vista 64 bit drivers will work in Windows 7 Beta. Xp 64 is where it gets tricky. See my post in the Xp 64 bit thread for some direction.

If you plan to game, I'd go with Vista 64. While Windows 7 is great, some game installs I found still don't like the OS. In Vista, you'll also get Direct X10, whereas in XP 32 or XP 64 you only get DX 9. If you want to squeeze every bit of gaming out of it I'd go with Vista 64.

Thanks a lot for your point of view. I've got a question to that, I don't mind going for Vista 64 to do my gaming but do you think it would be better to have XP for all my Software needs like internet and office etc cause of lack of app support of 64bit ? I'm ok to have 32XP and 64Vista but wanted to know if I could install all my games on lets say D: partition so I can have access to it from both systems ? Im quite a bit of Battlefield fan but it older versions like BF2 or 2142 dont like Vista 32 or 64 so I would put it on XP. Shame I cant use DX10 on XP :( thx a lot

I've actually found that app support for Vista 64 has been quite good, at least with the most popular ones (Adobe, iTunes, Nero, etc. etc.). You just need to find the x64 version of the app. In fact with programs like Photoshop, the 64bit app is superior (faster, makes use of 4 gigs of ram on the P310). Also, the x86 (32 bit) emulation and compatibility in Vista 64 works for the most part (right click on exe, properties, compatibility). I've found that when it doesn't work, I change the compatibility it actually does what it's supposed to!

The problem with installing games on one drive (say while in XP) and trying to access while in Vista is that you won't have the proper installation (registry files) in Vista, so games might not run at all. Most old games do work though without proper installation so it will be a bit of trial and error.

Wow cheers! You've convinced me to go for 64 bit, I will get a licence of Win XP as a rescue for smthng that doesnt work or have issues with Vista 64bit :). Yeah I thought about getting Win7 Beta but as you say that Vista64 is still better for gaming than Win7 than Vista64 is a choice for me.

Q: Will the overclocking/undervolting apps like RivaTuner or nTune and others work under VISTA 64bit ? I want to undervolt CPU and overclock 9600m GT to up 7k scores in 3Dmark06 :) and I was wondering if it will work with V64bit.

Q: Anyone uses a laptop cooler for their P310 ? What is the best one that does the job as it should? (Preffered 13.3 size that lines up directly underneath the main fan on the P310)

BTW It seems like P310 is best gaming console around :p Well its portable, I've seen vids on Youtube PPL playing GTA 4 with higher settings than on consoles with nice FPS. I have PS3 but now that I've seen that 9600m GT can get better graphics in games like Fallout 3 or GTA 4 than consoles I just want to get rid of my PS3 ;P plus just annouced Battlefield 1943 will be coming to PC so I will be set for good. I dont mind playing on lower resolutions but have better graphics than consoles on a truly portable laptop. PC GAMING ROCKS! :D Just need to get 360 Controller and Im set. Ups I got off topic on my question, sorry im just so excited about getting P310 :)

I had a look, at our dear old notebook.de and surprise, surprise - there are two new configurations - visit.

Firstly, LG P310-S.CBMAG with Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53 GHz

It is 250E more expensive (!!!) than the old P9500 model. Are the mad or sth?!

Secondly, they introduced the Tarisa model in preconfigured UK Version :D I think this very forum might have been the reason for that ;)

Of course, as previously discussed, we should expect that the UK keyboard is in fact a US International keyboard :)

You have to admire the fact, that they simplified the process of acquiring a non-german keyboard configuration. Respect for notebook.de :D

1150 for a missile like this seems too good to be true. Sure, there's the heat flip side but still...

I called that along time ago, shows how much this forum listens :D

I do have to say though the customer support for the UK is rubbish so be warned. I first had to call holland to get them to give me an email address and then email them the problem. Then they forgot to order collection when they said they were going to. They wouldnt reply to email. Had to get a guy from the UK side to call them because they wouldnt answer. The he called me and told me they would call back to arrange collection. No call. So called Holland again and the then booked a collection date, But instead of booking a collection sent me a box through the post. The delivery drive couldnt take the box back with the laptop in it as he didnt have any paper work from LG. Another call to LG and they then sent the paperwork with another box. My laptop is now on its way to them and I have to say that I am alittle worried. All this for a card reader, but I need it. Fingers crossed

Really? Sorry, I follow this thread carefully but must have missed that.

Still, the pricing on the P8700 version makes me wonder... Who, having a sane mind, would buy this configuration ;)

Thanks to all for contributing to this thread, I have been searching for the P310 for a few weeks and found out to get it from here. I just ordered the "UK" configured Tarisa from Notebook.de / wire transfer went today, I will post again to comment on the shipping time and customer service I experienced once the laptop is received.

My service issues were from LG them selfs. I havent got anything but praise for notebook.de and if you need anything for UK stuff as for rick he is realy on the ball and it has been said afew times on this forum that he "is the man" when it comes to this. Just a pity that LG being such a large company cant get there act together. I had this email today sayin that they haven got the parts

I got mine P310 few days ago and I must admit its one of the nicest laptops i've ever had :) I don't mind external dvd as a rarely use it. I might be doing a small review once i upgrade to P9500 and 7200rpm 500gb HD.

TrueSilvo I have a question for you as I want to upgrade my HD. Could you tell me if LG backup utility that laptop ships with will allow me to take a backup of my entire hard drive then copy it to external HD and then restore it on 500GB Segate Momentus that you have? Will F11 button that shows when you start up the laptop work on swapped HD ? The thing is I want to fully configure Vista 64 with drivers and software now and I just wan to know if I will be able to restore an Image of my entire HD on new Hard drive?

BTW: ! Gaming on this thing is awesome, 1.6kg laptop that lets me play COD4 on native 1280x800 on highest with no lag and no overclock :) superportable machine which is able to play 360 like quality games :), me like PC gaming again ;]

    Hello All,

I am from the UK and would like to thank you all for the info on this intriguing laptop, I am seriously considering buying it and would not have begun to do so if it wasn't for all the information you have generously given.

My decision now hinges on a few questions which I am hoping you might be able to help me with:

    1. Would anyone be so kind as to post a picture of the screen at low - medium brightness please of something familiar (like the Vista or XP Login Screen) ? I ask this as I know the screen is not the best and would like to see something of it before I hand over the not insignificant amount of cash for this laptop. The higher res the piccy the better, but obviously beggars can't be choosers. :D

    2. I am thinking of getting the extended warranty (I would probably purchase the P9500 P310 from notebook.de) but I can't easily tell if this warranty is with the shop, a 3rd party or with LG, anybody have any ideas ?

    3. Having seen dalifan's post about buying a new keyboard separately I am somewhat tempted to go down this route and save myself 70 odd euro (I think). But is it easy to change keyboards on the P310 ?

I am also following closely Lord Turel's experience with LG support.

Thanks in advance for any help given. :)

    1. I had my concerns about the screen as well but once I got it I was amazed how good it was! I have absolutely no complaints about the screen. It's sharp and has good colours. I will try getting some pics done for you tomorrow or day after and post them. But seriously dont worry.

    2. I got the P310 from Poland with 2yrs of warrany which is good enough for me.

    3,4,5 . Buy this laptoP!

Why worry about the screen of all things? Lg makes good screens, if everything else they make is crap at least their screens are top notch.

Keyboard is quite easy to change, it is after all the first component to remove when you try to access any other component.
