Good point. I would have agreed, but unfortunately my needs have changed. I have a Dell XPS M1730, which is a desktop replacement. I also need a small and portable machine. Was going to buy a netbook to fill the need for a small and light laptop to take with me when out and about.

Then work requirements changed, meaning I was now going to be doing a fair amount of travel including longish stop overs in different destinations. Now I need a small and portable machine, but one that has a DVD drive for watching movies/playing games along with a half decent graphics card. The LG P310 would be a nice choice, just lacks the DVD drive.

Each to their own though eh! Sounds like the machine is just want you want, looks awesome!

If they could make the DVD drive swappable with an extra battery, then that might make sense. Granted you'd probably add a bit of weight over the DVD, but get a lot more battery life.

Where can someone order a P310 in the United States?

Some places have mentioned notebook.de but i can't seem to find it on the site...

Also can anyone please tell me the dimensions of the laptop? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Thanks for the good reply! Rep for you... Still would like comparison with the XPS 13, if anyone can help!

Btw, anyone worried about LG service: After 20 months and dropping the unit a few times, it started to freeze when i touched it certain places on the plastic frame. Called LG, who send DHL to pick it up after 2 days. Got it back after one week with motherboard changed - no questions asked. That's why I'll probably buy LG again.

Contacted them this morning. Unfortunately, tarsia model is no longer available and there's no estimate on when they'll restock.

If you're still planning to purchase P310... I would recommend notebook.de. You won't need to pay VAT if you're ordering from the US, but the shipping costs will offset your savings.

    Thanks for your help Macarius.

I just check notebook.de, it appear that the P310 is no longer available.
There is only the P300 left...

I should have order it earlier :-/

It will wait for a future restock otherwise it will go for a Lenovo Y450 whith a GT130m

P310 is currently not available at Notebook.de. You may want to try cyberport.de. I've never dealt with them before, but heard good things about them from this thread.

Check out this review from notebookcheck for the specs...

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-LG-P310-Camini-Notebook.15859.0.html

You'll find an in depth review from there.

Yeah, sorry to hear that. You may want to give Cyberport a try. They have P310 available, but not the Tarsia model.

Okay, So I have read every single post in this thread. I have seen that a few people in the USA have ordered this LG P310 from notebook.de and according to the price it will cost about $2,150 usd just to pay for the laptop itself. High Price, YES I KNOW.

However, nobody seems to mention the shipping cost of getting this laptop to their door in the USA. I live in 79936 area code and unfortunately cannot speak german to sucessfully to a test order to see what my end total will be.

Any German speakers that can please give me a EUR total with a LG P310 with 9600m GT gpu to that zip code will be greatly appreciated it.

    Thanks.

It appear to have a new model at notebook.de :
LG P310-S.CBMBG Elini with Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz

But the price tag is quite high : 1739 € !

I could contact them tomorrow to get you the exact quote, but I can tell you now that shipping was very expensive. From what I remember, it was almost $300 (around 220 euros) to ship to US (CA) via UPS express mail. And the package arrived in 3-4 days. They didn't offer any other methods of shipment.

That would be greatly appreciated it Macarius. I recently noticed that there is a SONY SR model at Sony.jp that is also 13" and comes equiped only for the japan market (what a shame) with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650. So debating what might be a better option. Will have to buy the Sony from jp directly. We shall see. Thanks.

Question for everyone. How is warranty handle if something was to happen to the LG P310? Is the warranty only valid in the country from where the product originated from? Will I have to ship the laptop to that country and then pay the ridiculous charge to get it ship back to USA or will LG USA take care of any warranty work ?

The warrenty is world wide for 1 year. I live in the UK and had to send mine back the netherlands after contacing holland as my card reader died and that sowed my whole system. I think it is intergrated into the touchpad as they replaced that too. Have alook at my other posts as i take everybody through my experience step by step and show all my email contacts. Not great support but atleast its working now

That is correct. I was mislead by an erroneous post in the thread the ultraportables in the which notebook should I buy section. Someone mistakenly mentioned that Sony SR with a 4650 instead of a 4570. My mistake.

    Dear all, good noon.

I want to buy the P310 and I have seen in the notebook.de webpage that you can change the original hard disk by another one.

    I am thinking in a 200GB SATA-HDD (7.200rpm) 16Mb.

Do you think that change is recommendable or is enough with the original hard disk (320GB SATA-HDD 5.400rpm 8Mb)?

I can spend that money, (+249€), but I don't know if this change will be good.

    What do you think?

Why is this thread going dead? :( I love my p310 more and more every day especially after overclocking xD now it runs C OD4 on native 1280x800 all high with AA 4x :D :D but i have it on 2x i runs awesome. Drivers i have is DOX optimised ver 185.68 for XP. Damn i 3Dmarked06 o verclocked my 9600m GT from 500/800/1250 to 690/950/1726 and i got 7426points at native 1280x800 with 2.26 CPU. Thats a damn good scoore i must say. I also 3Dmarked on clocks 700/1000 and i got 7523 score. I use 690/950 clocks to be safe whatever it means while overclocking... I check the temps regularly. Temps from default clock were 85 celcius on GPU went to around 91, 92 celcius (sometimes 95 if room is hot) which is about 6 degress hotter when not overclocking. NOTE: I've lifted my laptop on a CD box pack so ventilation is better i didnt measure temps while flat and i dont think im going to. Now i just need to get a proper laptop cooler and maybe temps after overclock will be 86 celcius which would be satisfing :) I am truly impressed what overclock does to P310, i dont think temps went up drastically but performane Oh My! I'll be replacing my cpu with P9500 at some point so major dust cleaning inside will be performed as well as applying A05 thermal on CPU and GPU and test the temps again. Like i said running COD4 at native with everything on high and running smooth on AA4x is amazing, i use 2x on big servers where thers a lot going on. I havent tested any other games that much but i might later. I think im prepared for this years upcoimng Modern Warfare 2 and Battelfield 1943 as well as Bad Company 2 which i think should be a problem if it runs COD4 on max.

Here's what u need to safely overclock and monitor temps:

//Download DOX optimised drivers <simply amazing performance! (uninstall your current nvidia drivers) Link to the driver:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23676

First: AtiTool <- amazing and simple, no need to flash BIOS or anything you just use Sliders to add more power to core and memory. (Use two sliders on a very right in ati tool window. (Make sure you use sliders not just putting freq u want and hit enter cause your screen will go black an you will have to restart)

    Second:
While running AtiTool run TechPowerUp GPU which shows how clocks are changing in real time so when you have AtiTool open an use sliders to overclock it will show you current clocks on GPU. (Run it in the same time as ATI TOol)

Third: Monitor your temps with HWMonitor (note: when you quit and run program again the highest temps will reset to your current temp)

3Dmark06 it and post your score ;]

Thats it! Hope you figure it out you and dont overclock too much! If you have any questions pm me and ill help you out. I dont take any resposibility for you doing something wrong or breaking your hardware in the process. Do it at your own risk! But trust me its worth it and quite safe in my opinion cause P310 has superior cooling due to lack of DVD xD).

Greets to everyone and help this thread running ! No doubt P310 is best laptop i've ever had ;] portability and console quality gaming in such a small package xD

Hi, this laptop looks awesome, has anyone bought one and imported to the UK? How much did it cost for shipping, did you have to pay VAT/Customs? How much did it cost in total (including UK/international Keyboard)? Also which CPU version did you get?

    Thanks

I didnt import it but im in UK most of a year, i bought about last model in Poland of P310 as LG backed out of Polish market. My guess is that you would have to try getting it from germany, search this thread for www adress but one of them is http://www.cyberport.de . You would have to pay extra for uk keyboard, im not sure how much. I got 2.26 CPU and it handles everything just fine, I play COD4 on native 1280x800 with everything on high with AAx4. However I plan to upgrade to P9500 as its still 25W and more powerfull, maybe I'll overclock CPU as well after upgrade to like 2.8, we'll see. I need a proper laptop cooler for all that cause as for now my lappie is lifted on a CD case ;P Hope i answered some of your questions.

Hello. In my country, this laptop has recently been introduced which I saw in a shop. The salesman said it was a week old and I last went there a few days ago. So it seems to be pretty new but after looking around on the internet, it seems as though its a couple of months old, probably even an '08 model? Can someone confirm this?

    BTW, these are the specs:
    LG P310 (approx. usd $1030)
    Intel T6500 2.1GHz
    2GB RAM [DDR3]
    320GB HDD
    13.3" Screen [1280x800]
    NVIDIA® GeForce® 9300 [DDR3 256MB RAM] with TurboCache
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    No disc drive.

I like the design and especially the fact that there is no disc drive, but other than that, is it a good deal for $1030?

    Thanks.

Most of the notebook on the market are 08 models, as that was the last time intel released a new mobile platform. I am not sure about the pricing of other notebooks in your country (which is?) so it's hard to determine whether or not that is a good deal.

    Hello,
I own a LG p310 notebook. It shut down while working and when i turned it on again instead of booting my OS it comes up with the next message:

Expansion Rom not initialized - PCI Mass Storage Controller on Motherboard
Press F1 for set up or F2 to resume

I tried restoring defaults at bios setup but still doesn t work... :( it gives that message and if i press F2 to resume it reboots.
I tried setting it to boot from USB disk or CD rom but still no luck.

Any ideas? I tried to locate something like bios chip but i couldn t locate it.

    Thanks for your time.

I honestly think there is a new version on the way very soon.

If you want to spend money on a notebook though and still want serious power you should consider the 14" GX403 it has a GT130 and is suppose to be cheap, good luck!

    hi all!
just installed win7 here, works fine but my gpu idle temp is around 75°C. Is it ok? Is there an easy way to downclock it outside games?

Sounds strange, only thing i could think of is bad drivers? If u wanna downclock or overclock download AtiTool. I presonally have XP and im very satisfied with the temps. While IDLE are around 55-60.

Dunno, I'm using latest drivers from laptop2go, same I had on XP where my temp were much lower. Yesterday I tried to play some HL2 and after 15 mins my temps went up to 95..
AtiTool works on nvidia cards too? I'll check it out, thanks a lot!

Well I dunno, maybe Win7 drivers arent optimised that good yet, i havent tried it yet. 95 degrees is a bit too much i get 90-92 degres after heavy overclocking on XP and around 80-85 without OC. (Look 2 Pages Back i posted temps and clocks I used) . Hope u sort it out, maybe uninstall those drivers and try different release... Take care
