Since the processor to be used in the x11 is still unknown, its hard to say. It was shown with a low voltage core2duo. In its CES form, I doubt that it would be faster than the P310. It's the 335M GT, with its 75 shaders, that gives it the 3Dmark06 scores in the 6000 range. For pure computing, I think the P310 still has the edge.

one question u think I'll be able to run Bad Comapny 2 fairy well with p8400 and 9600m gt O/C to 7400points in 3dmark06? I can run pretty much all the games like Modern Warfare 2 (AA 2x) or Dirt 2 maxed out on native 1280x800 with no troubles. The question is if i'll be able to get 360 like graphics quality like I have been with most games ? Do you own P310 as well ? ;]
Also can anyone tell me if its possible to O/C my CPU ? I have P8400, ive read smtng about SETFSB software but dunno if i can do that on my P310. I've seen a guy O/C his P8400 to 2.8Mhz but some say it depends on your motherboard.. Any1 tried this?
cheers! -
I have not been pleased with any of LG's new Notebooks, as I feel that they have moved from cutting edge laptops to far less interesting devices. Thus, I am ordering a new Sony Z (I7/330M GT/SSD) as soon as they are available in the US (soon I hope).

Haven't been here for awhile... it's good to see that this thread is still alive and kicking.
And I'm glad to announce that after 7 months, my LG P310 is still running perfectly (currently playing SF IV with it and the frame rate is rock solid at a decent graphics setting comparable to xbox 360 and PS3 versions).
However, I'm also considering replacing my P310 for the new vaio Z, but couple of things bother me. Unless there will be an HDD option, I don't want to shell out for a raid 0 SSD setup. Been reading some negative things about it not being able to do TRIM and such, and I would much prefer to choose and upgrade my own SSD. Also, my old Z had some really bad heat issues and the fan was constantly blasting. And yeah, it's not going to be cheap that's for sure. -
The second issue is heat. I was just at best buys checking out the performance of the Sony CW's that Best Buy is selling for $850. They have the I5 with a 330M GT card. I figured that they were as close to the z as I can get to check out the 330M GT card. The performance was great and the heat was not too bad in the larger 14" case.
I also looked at the Sony S being handled by Best Buy, which had an I5 in it. The little 13" inch frame was struggling to keep itself from overheating. The exhaust from the fan was incredibly hot even before I started running vidoes. The 310M in the S got hot when I played some graphics for 10 or 15 minutes. It gives me pause about the Z, but I am not yet detered. I'm keeping an open mind and waiting for the first few to be reviewed in the Sony owner's lounge.

BTW, I would have preferred it if LG had a competitive product but it looks like the P310 was a fluke. -
Bear in mind that store display models often run hot, don't know why, maybe store stuff installed? Most likely due to constant customer abuse, who knows.
But yes, will be interesting to see the heat it puts out! -
has anyone tested bad comany 2 beta on p310 ? id like to know how it performs

There might be another option on the Horizon. There has been a lot of speculation about the new Asus UL30JT. The old version of the UL30, the VT had a duo core and 210M - certainly nothing to write home about. There has been speculation since the CES that the new JT might come with an I5/I7 and a 330M GT. Well, specs on its bigger brother, the N82, have just been released and it looks like it will come with a 335M GT and an option for the HD5740. This has fueled speculation that the JT may come with a 330M GT and have an option for the 335M GT. Thus, in a 13.3 format, you might be able to get an I7/335M GT/7200 RPM HD/6 GB DDR3, all for around a grand. This could be an interesing device. I'll be watching the Asus forum before I decide to comit to the Sony.

I've got a question, do you think it would be good idea to upgarde p8400 to QX9300 in LG p310? I mean i'd like to hear an opinion on performance gain, temps, and battery life..

Hello to everybody:
I tried to install W7x64 in my p310 Tarsia, but I´ve had to install drivers manually (nvidia, ICH and Realtek) because Windows Update didn´t it. Is that normal?
Another question: is there BIOS upgrade from LG?
Thanks and regards. -
Nobody? I am the only who has to install the drivers manually with Windows Seven?
THanks and regards,
Usi. -
niffcreature ex computer dyke
ive had some experiences with laptops where i feel like that has happened due to a burn error...
all things considered, its probably not likely. -
-
I´m not having problems with my battery and W7x64 bits, but I have read some guys that have this problem with differentes laptops. I don´t know why.
Thanks and regards,

I´m interesting in how to turn off the bluetooth, I don´t know how to do it.
Another question: I bought my Tarsia more than a year ago. Is there an update BIOS out there since then?

Of course, it depends on your needs. I don´t need a very powerful graphic card, but a powerful CPU and RAM (I work with audio, not with graphics). I love my Tarsia, but this HP is better for people like me

My p310 is 1 year old now but i still think is the best laptop on the market in terms of portability combined with awesome power. I don't see myself buying anything that's on the market now cause there realy isn't anything similar.
Too bat they don't make it anymore, i don't understand why, i'm realy thinking it's because p310 was really "too good". Companies seems to have the custom to make products that have a lower life in terms of phisical or moral usage.
My battery still holds for ~ 3 hours of normal usage. But i still need another one, it known that the batteries will eventualy drain out. Do you know where i can find a replacement battery for p310? Thanks. -
The batteries are listed on a couple of asian websites, but are out of stock
I think your best bet is to contact an authorised LG repair point and get a replacement through the official channels directly form LG.

I've been trying Bad company 2 beta on XP 32 and Win7 64bit and it seems to run much better on win7 withought overclock. I know its very high cpu dependant game and i only have p8400 but im planning to undervolt it and overclock it to 3.06mhz as i've seen some one doing it on the forums with steady temps. He claims 25% increase in performance.
I would however consider upgarding CPU from p8400 to p9700 and see how it performs.
Can someone tell me if I can upgrade my P310 to I7 cpu ? or i5 . Or does it require complete different mo-bo ?

I am selling my LG P310 Because, I don't need to be mobile anymore, and prefer to have a more powerfull computer.
Mine is the version
P8400, 4GB DDR3, GF 9600M GT 512MB, 320Go
Give me a price if you are interesting. -
Thought all you P310 owners would like to know that the Alienware M11x does not benchmark faster on 3DMarko6 than the P310. I think that some of you had 3DMark06 of 6000+. I forget if it was with the CPU/GPU overclocked.
According to endgagenet, the M11x, with its low power SU7300 Core2Duo processor and a GT335M GPU have been able to post 3dMark06 scores of only 5,535. So, for now, the P310 would still seem to be the reining champ of small ultralight notebooks. That is, until the new Sony I5/I7's start to ship. The Sony I5-540M with the GT330M GPU posts 3dMark06 scores of 6,193 without any overclocking. I would guess that, with ovberclocking of the GPU, the 3Dmark06 scores may approach 7,000 depending how much the GPU can be oc'd. So, when the Sony starts shipping, the P310 will finally have to step aside. Still, however, it is a great machine.
The PCMarkVantage scores are interesting too. The M11x posts scores of 3141, while the Sony with the I5-540 posts scores of 9,949.
I have preconfigured the Sony I will be ordering in march from a Japaneese reseller, Conics.Net, with the following:
I7-620 4MB cache
Premium Carbon
500 GB 7200 HD
6GB DDR3 Ram
1920 x 1080 screen
Windows 7 Pro
Configured as above, the price is $2,454.44. I am still debating whether or not to order the SSD Sony is offering in the Z and whether or not the I5-640 2.53ghz CPU will be better than the I7-620. The I7 has a GB more cache, a base speed of 2.66ghz and can reach speeds of 3.33ghz in turbo mode.
I still wish LG had something to compete with this new Z, like a refreshed version of the P310 with an I7-GT335M. For now, it's gonna be a sony.

2.4 core i5 with GT330M and internal optical drive at 3 lbs
I just wish it had the 5x series ATi mobility graphics. http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5650.23697.0.html -
I am waiting to see what the manufacturers show at CeBit this week before pulling the trigger on the Sony.

It ain't nvidia's "optimus" that swayed manufactures. Its price, period. Nvidia is selling thier gpu's below ASP in volume. As to why, probably to bolster thier bottom line this quarter.

I'm probably switching to a mac so Ι'm selling my beloved p310.
If you happen to know anyone that maybe interested please tell me with a PM.
I'm shipping to Greece, maybe EU, and I'll be in US (NYC - Boston) for the period between 27 April - 6 May -
Start up a selling thread on the NBR Market. It should sell fast.
-
The fact is that I have too few posts to start a thread here.
I noticed you sold yours. Were there enough offers for it? -
Btw thank you for the ssd installation guide you posted a while ago. It was really helpful
-
There was some interest, I found a buyer after a week or so... You should also try putting it on ebay. I will probably be selling my second P310 soon and I think ebay is the way to go
-
Do you guys know any good place where I could get a new battery? LG does not provide service to notebooks in my ountry! -
yea we prob gonna have a hard time finding one as i need one too, my batt has been going to sleep like 15$. I need a new keyboard too cause some paint came off. Otherwise outstanding laptop when overclocked can play bad company 2 xD
