I copied your settings and tried Skyrim without an overclock. Only problem is that I couldnt remove High Res Foilage so add about 5fps each to these figures (I remember thats how much I dropped when I put it on)

Thanks, these results are very good. What driver did u use?
Did you also put the same distance?
I put the fxaa, in the m14x skyrim thread it s said that it forces the integrated gpu to kick in.
Did u use any enhanced mods? I am very interested in your guide, i will use it later. -
I finally could install 290.53 driver. I kept the inf if anyone needs it please PM me.
-
I heard that nVidia cards differ a lot in performance when changing drivers. How are the games that you play?
Any noticeable smoothness or extra fps? I might install it on my quadro as well.

I will post results about Arkham city soon. -
So it is definitely possible IF you know someone. Because to my knowledge, no korean online webiste are proposing to sell abroad (even Gmarket says it only ships in Korea).
The shop I used doesn t have any website, just a phone number and a address (they don t speak english).
Your best chance would be with Ryan, for the moment. -

Btw can someone with a unit please comment on fan noise plz? Sony SB fan noise was unacceptable loud when GPU under load.. Thanks -
You can send him a PM or write a request in his thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lg/630115-those-who-want-p330.html

If I was not scared to be bullied by M14x fans, I would say that it s way quieter than the M14x. So I am not saying that it s quieter and better.
-
Yup, if Convel agrees to purchase, I can only buy one more.
-
The only mod that I couldnt remove was high res foilage which I said that already. It was with 290.36, and yes I used the same view distance and everything, it was identical to P330 screenshots, even ran at 1366x768.
And before you ask, I already said no overclock -
Ok, thanks Gears, you really cleared that up. Just goes to show that it matters a lot where you stand / what you are looking at when you take SS's. I will try to replicate the Dead Island Screenshots soon.
Then i guess its decided, the m14x is still stronger, but possibly not as aesthetically pleasing.
Its basically either bulky, sexy, powerful m14x, or slim quiet stealthy sexy, but still a gaming P330 -
How is the color gamut/accuracy? Or does it vary?
-
Can you let me know how you removed vertical sync? I thought that originally the game has it always on but I see you did a pic with 70 fps.
Why do you have hundred pictures shots between the three you posted?
Also one of you three pictures is looking the floor, so in this case I would reach 60 fps (not more obviously).
I really think Skyrim is not the best way to draw conclusion on perf difference between m14x and p330.
I owned a m14x last month for two weeks, I don t see any big difference in performance between the notebooks. I was around 10 fps / 15 fps less with a higher res 1600x900 which makes sense. -
In dead island the fps can vary to over 70 fps or 40 fps. So it won t really prove anything...
I will post my 3dmark11 result soon, I think it s way more reliable. -
You posted pictures of you looking at the ground, so I did too and posted even more (me actually looking out at a long distance). Both of us looking at the ground, I got 30fps more, which is a pretty big difference (imagine you ran at 0fps - not running. I could run at 30fps). Yes I removed Vsync, but at over 60fps it wont make a difference. All my other mods were off except the other mod I couldnt get off, which actually LOWERED my fps. I wasnt really trying to prove the m14x was WAY better, I was just posting for everyone else to see. Sorry if I made you feel insecure about your P330's performance, I wasn't trying to put it down, just show differences between what you guys were comparing.
In which I showed the m14x was better by about 30fps in Skyrim, which I find a fine comparison as it is a brand new game with stunning graphics -
To all owners: Is the screen really an IPS or is it just a screen with better quality?
-
You notebook makes you secure?
Actually, I realise that the integrated graphic card is the only choice in my skyrim graphic option.
Even if I set nvidia panel to use the discreet gpu, it doesnt take it...
So my tests were done with the integrated graphic.
30 FPS difference is too good to be true -
Man I wish they would release this in Australia. Awesome spec's in a thin and light 13". This is what the M11x should have been. Thankyou for the early thoughts Nat, looking forward to the in depth review.
Why are people comparing the P330 and the M14x? The M14x is massive in comparison, nearly identical in size to the P150HM. The LG is much smaller, and for the size, the performance is impressive. Might send LG an email asking about Australia. We are in the Asia Pacific region after all... -
Sorry about that comment I was in some struggle with another user, I didnt mean it that way. Originally meant it as joking around but I see now how it was taken that way.
And no, all bethesda games seem to show the opposite of what you use in the launcher (if you ran with the Intel GPU itd show the 555M). And its a 30fps difference, believe it or notThe LG is pretty great for its size but the m14x will probably almost always perform better (higher default GPU clock, 192-bit, overclocks great)
Cheers -
. I love your avatar Costanza, by the way.
Well my benchs are a bit messy and sorry for that.
When I made the "non pictures" bench with fraps, I got around 55 fps. I was using 290.36. At this time it was showing GT 555m in bethesda picture.
Then I modified the inf of 290.53 and gave it a go. This is at this moment that I made the pictures for proving it wasn t fishy.
And then I got around 40-45 fps. I didn t really paid attention even if it is a big drop.
After you posted your very high results I checked again and noticed the integrated gpu is my only choice with 290.53 ( I have no idea why).
I went back to 290.36 and If I look in the sky or bottom I reach 60 fps (vertical sync, how you do you turn off?).
If I look in front of me I got around 55 fps.
I think it s very close to what you post. So there is no big 30 fps diff (which is logical as our gpu are not that different).
Forget about my weird preset and let s post ultra default preset at my res. This way we can see which lappy holds the crown, haha
With ultra preset, in the location silent moon camp during the day. I got 20-22 fps front and 30-35 fps on bottom and sky. -
Oh I never get 40fps with my photorealistic mods. Im on battery at a friend's house at the moment so I cant show, but if you go to my steam you can see how my game looks. I never get below 40fps no matter what. usually 80fps in doors
-
I owned both notebooks and to me there is no difference but I might be wrong. -
Dont forget there are other advantages to the m14x as well (higher res, bigger screen, can be had for cheaper, and of course the biggest thing is that the large company; currently the P330 has to be imported in which you get no warranty support basically, so yeah.) Still I really like the P330, and hell if it was in the US I may have even returned my m14x for it, but I need accidental warranty and actually warranty support so eh :/
-
I have international lg warranty though. Actually at the beginning when i started the notebook they asked me korean pr english and everything is in english even lg softwares.
On the price side, p330 is very costly no doubt about it. -
I confirm my screen is not IPS.
-
Currently there are no P330s with the IPS screen, and LG has no official ETA's for the IPS screen equipped models.
The only ones available are the TN panels with 1366x768 display. -
@Natadiem, and anyone else who is wondering.
Both computers have GT555m's, the m14x's being the 192bit version. Now this may seem like not a big difference, and it isn't a huge difference there.
BUT there is a large difference in the base clocks. The m14x base clock is 590 core while the P330's is 525.
These two combined could explain some differences in the framerates. I will get back to you with those comparisons on the Dead Island frames, and i'll get them at exact settings and res.
Also, I don't mean to be -esque but can you get pictures of the framerates at the specific places at the Bandit Camp that way Gears and I can position ourselves in the same way as you? Where the center cursor is looking makes a HUGE difference in FPS. -
Sure, what settings shall we take?
-
Why not just run Vantage or 11 to compare GPU?
-
Hey Natadiem, what do you think of the keyboard? Is it nice to type? And is the layout ok?
Also, how is the battery life?
Thanks. -
First of all, want to thank Natadiem for all the information he provided here. I'm personally very interested in P330, since I bought a desktop and would like to get a portable gaming laptop instead of my bulky 15incher. I was considering Lenovo Y470, until I heard about P330. Really thrilled to find out about similar to Lenovo mSata option on P330!
The GT 555M on LG P330 seems to be the same as on Clevo W150HM models, right? The difference in performance can be found here AnandTech - MYTHLOGIC Pollux 1400: Clevo's W150HR Tested Mythlogic 1400 vs Alienware M14x. Yeah 128 bit version performs a bit worse than 192 bit, it's not a huge difference though and in native resolutions it would be even less. Now that we got that out of the way, I hope everyone can relax. I feel that Gearsguy is the person who for some reason is here to prove something to himself about M14x, rather than learn about P330.
Tbh, I can't imagine how you can compare those two laptops to each other. One has half the weight, and a much slimmer size in comparison to another while packing similar performance. It's like trying to compare Clevo P150HM to P180HM, different laptops for different needs. I agree with Natadiem that it is in a class of it's own and would be better compared to something like Sony SA series.
P.S. Natadiem, as a fellow Skyrim player, I recommend STEP - Skyrim Total Enhancement Project at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community this guide for video tweaks and different mods. That's not for testing, but for more personal enjoyment -
I was not trying to prove anything, just add the conversation. I was probably a bit frisky in one of my posts because another member was harrassing me publicly but thats resolved now. I really dont mean to sound any way and hope everything is ok. I didn't really even start trying to "defend" the m14x, Im just adding onto what Mazzacre said. I realize you still have some problem with me Ellatan in which Im perfectly fine with anyone PMing me about not approving of my posts
-
I'm little confused why you guys are so focused testing differences between those two laptops with the Skyrim? Of course if you are into playing Skyrim I understand that the performance in that game particularly is very interesting to you, but in a way to compare reliably two different setups (GPU, CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Hard Drive, Drivers etc.) isn't very sensible IMHO.
Thats why we have all of those different benchmarks like 3Dmark, Cinebench, Unigine Heaven and so on... -
I find the machines quite different but you guys were comparing it to the m14x so I thought I'd step in so you guys have a current machine to compare it to
-
I have been using 5h30 my notebook while using excel with around 70% luminosity before I had to switch to my other battery.
I didn t really tweaked my battery option yet so maybe I can squeeze more.
Of course if you get the i5 you might even have more juice. -
.
-
I hope they will release the nb in germany any time soon. They might even present it again at the CES and will allow it to come into stores afterwards.
The notebook will be as perfect as one could hope. Higher res screen would have been awesome but you can't have everything
It's quite hard to get a mobile, long lasting, small size & weight nb with an acceptable graphics card. Does any1 of u guys have Star Wars: The old Republic? I guess it will run okay?
And btw thx for the effort of posting here! -
-
If all goes well ill have the UE40k model soon (thanks Ryan). I'll be doing a full review including benchmarks etc asap.
-
How's the hinge? Does the screen moves when you moving the laptop to different place?
-
-
How are the colors. I know its not the isp version but still, how does it compare to other laptops?
-
It seems that in a few weeks, we will be requiring that P330 lounge
-
@Natadiem, very caught up with schoolwork, writings, and family. I'll try to get those SS's on Dead Island tonight, but I'm not sure if I can.
For those people who want to know why we are doing games instead of benches.. well I'm just following what I came in to. We can do both when we get free time if people want, i really don't care. I have 3dmark11 downloaded, and i've used it before, and I have the games Dead Island and Skyrim in common with Natadiem, so i've been talking about sharing those.
