You mean the slot just above the heatsink/ventilation ?

If he's talking about the slot right above the fan, that's definitely not an expresscard slot.
-
Lets jus forget about it guys.. cant really tell at all what it is from that video... have to wait for the release to know the what it is... but im hoping its an express card slot
thanks for all ur input guys... -
That definately doesn't look like an express card slot.
Even if they did include one, it would probably be the smaller size, thats what they included on the older models.
Though that slot definately does look kind of wierd, wonder what it is for (extra exhaust/intake?) -
-
Kinda strange there's no grille over it though. Doesn't really look like an exhaust but who am I to say it isn't.
-
I can almost guarantee that what you're seeing is not an ExpressCard slot. Every recent laptop that I've seen has those filled with a blank, and those are really weird dimensions for one anyways. It might just be decorative to cover the speakers or an exhaust vent.

Well I'm officially passing over the x220 in favor of this laptop. LG hurry up and make it available!
-
I know i'm hoping they announce very soon.
Though if only available in Taiwan to begin with, if you buy from there will you get an english or some sort of asian keyboard? -
Well asian keyboards are just normal US or European layout keyboards with sometimes alternate writing below the keys and extra keys around the space bar.
Though the laptops in Hong Kong (and I assume Taiwan) just have the normal US layout without anything extra. -
Hopefully this machine won't have any heating issues / throttling / underclocked gpu / cpu!
-
wouldn't surprise me if they used a crippled 555M on the P330.
-
even a crippled 555M would be better than anything else on the market for a 13''
It's a shame I have no money though, it would be a nice replacement for m 3820tg ^^ -
The 96 core crippled 555M is just a slightly faster version of the 550M which is of course faster the 540M and the 6630/6650 being used in Sony's S/Z series.
I also hope there's not throttling or underclocking, but if there is any company that can do it right now, it's probably LG. -
-
even a crippled 555m like the one in the lenovo y570 is still decently faster than 550m/540m because its using gddr5 with alot higher memclock.
however you can just oc 540ms to match its core speed with ease. running my acer 3830tg 13.3inch 540m with 780/1000 -
The difference between the 550 and 555 only results with 2-5 fps difference while gaming. The amount that matters depends on the person I guess.

That spot above the vent is blank on most laptops, but my acer 3820tg has a vent in the same spot. I would say that is just a tight vent grill and a bad resolution picture. -
getting very impatient here! anyone heard any more about this release?

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its going to be 6-7 months until ivy bridge
-
It looks like LG's Aurora line will be distributed in the US. LG unveils S430, S530 Aurora laptops for people who like muted hues -- Engadget Hopefully, the P330 will follow suit. Encouraging news.
-
Chop Chop!!
-
-
-
well you'd be pretty stupid to not include the US if you were a laptop manufacturer and looking for market share
-
It's not always the case. The last one wasn't available in the US.
-
Like many others said, if this thing has a 900p display, I'm sold. Hopefully more news will surface for this laptop :O
-
I'm intrigued.

hi guys in berlin we have the ifa starting tomorrow (an electronic expo) and this modell is supposed to be displayed there for the first time in public!
Ill try my best to take pictures (sadly only iphone 3gs) and ill check if it has a double cooler and if one can power it on!
Please ask questions now so I can go check it out tomorrow !
also, maybe i could equip myself with a usb stick and cpu z, gpu z and some other tools, some tips?
Please hurry up, im visiting the ifa 2morrow and next week tuesday, ill try my best to take pictures
also if i cant put a usb stick on it but theres a windows 7 on it, give some tips how i can extract infos about the CPU + GPU! -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
dxdiag is all you need to extract the info, maybe gpuz so we can have info on the gt 555m
I would like to know the res
the build quality
and the numbers of the hot chicks that are showcasing it -
alright so dxdiag it is, lets hope it has gddr5 ram! and btw various german sites claim the pricing will be qbout 1000 euros and abobe, of course i will ask 2morrow what price is to be expected
btw this is definitely for the eurpean market its said to be in stores sometime september, i highly doubt they wont include the us -
I wonder when it says European market, the Uk may get a look in with English keyboard?
Im hoping the 1000 price tag isn't for a "muted" version with non-gaming (N12E...guessing 520m?) and i'd assume a i5 core and poorer screen(?).
Otherwise, considering the Asus U46SV comes in at 800 in Europe, it would be very competitively priced!
*eagerly awaits review!* -
@gamba66, if possible, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, BatteryCare Portable for the battery details, the screen display hardware id from device manager, screen resolutions, some photos shows the screen viewing angles and check what is that slot on top of the exhaust fan..
-
Nice to finally get some news!!
I will fly to Seoul for the week end after release.
With ddr5 and ips screen I am sold.
Also I would like to say that Korean keyboard is not weird for english kb users.
Just the k-signs with letters but everything is same. -
sry guys i havent made it today, but im going there tomorrow
-
Please find out what the screen resolution is?
Will there be a model with Full HD (1920x1080) to compete in market of <=14" size ultraportables with Sony VAIO Z?
---
<offtopic>P.S. is Sony VAIO Z really the only ~13" light weight laptop with 1920x1200 resolution screen?</offtopic> -
-
surprisingly german notebooksites like notebookcheck oder notebookjournal do not have any coverage of this laptop, although various sites claim lg displays this at the ifa. they do however report of many other ultrabooks.. one thing though is for sure, that lg has a section at the ifa expo, lets just hope they have that laptop there
im really looking forward to buying it, the specs sound just too good to be true.. i highly doubt the IPS screen though -
The Vaio Z is 1920x1080.
-
why would you want a resolution like that?
i had a acer 3820tg a shortwhile and even the 1366 x 768 looked small on the 13,3" display and absolutely sharp! I think 1600 x 900 would be too much and 1440 x 900 would be the absolut maximum you can put in these notebooks
fullhd on 15,6" Notebooks is already bad enough for your eyes, and why would you seriously want to watch a blue ray movie on your laptop? When your travelling 720p should be more then enough -
high resolution on small screens is not for entertainment, that's just marketing BS ("watch you favourite movies in HD blah blah blah").
it's main advantage is getting just as much (or close to) on your laptop screen as you do on your main work PC to help limit reduction in work productivity. When you've got all your toolbars taking up your working space, it's not easy to get your work done and you end up scrolling and dragging your work all over the display. -
High Res !== Eye Strain.
If more pixels are used to display each letter on 13" screen then instead of seeing tiny text it can be the same physical size but more 'detail' in the letter should make it easier to read for most people. I own a VAIO-P and on it's 8" 1600x768 LCD I configured DPI Scaling in Vista to use "Larger scale (120 DPI)" that Microsoft rightly describe as make text more readable.
When a non-tech person asks me why I'd want a higher res screen then I ask them if they would prefer to read 100 pages of text on A4 printed using a Dot Matrix (<200dpi) printer, Inkjet (<=300dpi) or LaserJet (>=600dpi). Or I explain why the same software running on an iPhone 3 will look 'sharper' on an iPhone 4.
Portable devices have as low a resolution screen as customers are willing to buy - or no higher than a competing sized device - because lower resolution screens are cheaper to manufacture.
...enough off-topic discussion of High-Res on Small Screens! We can start a separate thread for that. Let's hear more about LG P330! -
