Me too. After a long search for a decent laptop in the 11,6" - 12,5" range (bought a cheap Acer 1810TZ till I find the real deal), I'm still searching and currently might opt for Lenovo X220 (lacks a backlighted keyboard and aluminum, but all other options have either glossy screen or horrible battery life; and the new Sony Z is too expensive). Might consider this LG (glossy screen notwithstanding) if it's size will be in the standard 12,5" range (because of the thinner bezel) as I like the idea of having a decent GPU inside (unless it causes the fan to be too noisy like in the previous gen Sony Z).

Bad News! I was at the IFA (electronic expo) today and LG has a huge area full of flatscreen tvs, sadly this was their main display it seems
there were a few notebooks but they were scattered all over the place and only very few.. obviously i didn't give up fast and asked every damn lg guy i could find but nobody really had a clue, there were german and korean guys and both of them had no clue.. so i asked both the german and korean ppl to take me to their boss, and even he had no clue.... well after that i tried to find it between the many flatscreen (3D) tv's but no chance, i only found the p430 and most of the laptops werent even labeled.. and well thats it, it could be that i just didn find it.. regardless im going there tuesday again and maybe on sunday
im really sorry guys i am just as disappointed as you guys, but everyone i asked had no clue about it! and if you checked, there is only one source saying that this would be presented at ifa 2011: ndevil.com
could really be that lg planned something wrong or that ndevil is wrong
sry guys
maybe ill find it 2morrow or tuesday but i really doubt that its there
-
hmmm i guess it is a sony sa or 3830tg unless the lenovo y470 is available to me
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I would actually discard the 3830tg due to heating issues
-
Still no news of this laptop ? :C
-
yeah i know come on whats the hold up!
i was hoping for the 1st october, being a q4 release, and they usually announce about a month early, but that date has already passed... -
This is taking too long LG... I'm really quite surprised the laptop was not being displayed at that show. Actually a little worrying, maybe they're going to hold off release till Ivy comes out next year?
-
I agree that it is really strange why LG hasn't published this or even given us any information about it. But I really don't think that they are waiting for Ivy to come out from Intel. Latest rumours I have read were saying that desktop Ivys are delayed to feb-march 2012 and laptop Ivys even to april 2012.
-
hi guys i was at the ifa expo again today, and now im 100 percent sure, there was no lg p330 displayed at that show! i asked everyone i could find and i took alot of time to search for it.. i only found the p430 and the pa530 (somth 15 6 inch)..
so it wasnt displayed there for sure -
First of all, what place did nDevil went to get a first glimpse at this potential troll product?
-
i would disregard it but i nearly had one at $400 open box. despite its problems that was worth it to me. but i still remain hopeful that they might fix the problem. doesnt seem likely but thats 3 models that need fixing isnt it? and they wouldnt be scrapping those already to remake new ones.....not untill the next line graphics are out which is next year.
by then thats too long. i would of given up on the 540m in 13" and the 555m with the 650m/655m or even a 640m would be good.
but its the wait. ive ordered me a sony sa and just over clock the 6630 to like a 6730m and if the lg p330 does come out i can surely resell it enough to get the lg p330 as sony products resell value seems to hold really well compared to other products for its age. -
i'm giving up on the P330, it's taking too long to announce, gonna have to go the X220
-
Same here.. unfortunately..
-
same, sorry p330, you are taking too long, there are no announcements, and you are just too much of a hassle to get in north america
-
I'll be sticking with the P330 for a bit longer, if only because I'm now in a position where I rarely need to use a laptop until the end of the year.
I'll try and see if I can get any news from people in Hong Kong and China. -
Yeah, the P330 was damn compelling, but it smells a little too much like vapor, at the moment (and we never were able to find out the resolution on it). Right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the 14" model in the upcoming Samsung Series 7.
-
me too.. samsung series 7 chronos look very good and with decent specs and in 3 diff sizes (14,15 & 15.6).. i like both of them but i do prefer LG P330 for the portability and gpu power.. since there isn't a word on LG P330 in months, i don think its releasing anytime soon.. The samsung series 7 chronos are already up for pre-order on amazon (15inch is not up yet, but 14 & 15.6 are up for pre-order)... Chronos look sturdy, though not as well built as macbook pro, but i rather pay around $1100 with good looks and sturdy built for chronos than pay over $2k for same configuration in Macbook pro.. Samsung is finally out with a killer laptop with series 7 chronos.. and i cant believe im gonna buy a samsung laptop... we are used to seeing other electronics such as home appliances from samsung, but look at them now.. damn they are on top in mobile industry with Galaxy S phones and also in next to apple in tablet world.. They make amazing HDTV 's and are pretty much at top in that segment too and not to mention their great PC monitors too.. and now they are slowly creeping into laptop segment.. no wonder apple is throwing out all kinds of lawsuit and suing samsung in every way possible(the new galaxy tablets)..
anyways for all you guys who are sick of waiting on LG P300, go have a look at the new Samsung Series 7 Chronos laptops ( Samsung Series 7 Chronos Official Video - YouTube. -
I like the Series 7 but they don't compete with a 13" ultralight like the P330 (if it's ever released). The appeal of the P330 is clearly not its chunky styling. It's the CPU/GPU combinationin a 13.3" notebook with a bright IPS display. The 15.6 Series 7 is too big and heavy. The GPU in the 14 is too weak (my Acer Timeline is a lot more powerful). I'm just staying with my Acer 3820TG for now (bought an extended warranty for $100) and probably waiting for Ivybridge notebooks in April or May.
-
same for their all in one desktop.. looked really nice, IPS screen and all, and nothing ever since its unveiling..
-
Oh, I totally get where you're coming from, man. I am all about small and fast, when it comes to my laptops. And the GPU does matter to me, because I'm a game programmer. I'd snap up a P330 in a heartbeat, if it showed up (and if it had the vertical resolution I need, which I still don't know!). I don't even care about the price (whatever it might be). I'm just concerned that the darn thing seems to have vanished.
I am really itching to move on, and I've already got a new home lined up for my trusty old ASUS. The new Samsungs don't hit the shelves until early October, so LG has the rest of September to say... well... something. -
I gave up and went with the HP DV6z. I know it's a 15" notebook, but it's inexpensive with 1080p screen, long battery life, and good gaming performance in a decently light package.
-
At the developer's conference OCZ anounced that the P220 will have its SSD drives. OCZ announces slimmer 7.5mm SSD, confirms one resides in LG's P220 ultraportable -- Engadget It also indicated the the drive will also be in other models to be released. The P330?
-
well the 7.5mm you would think is for the HDD, and that they have a separate m-sata ssd? which would mean there would have to be a 1TB 7.5mm 2.5" drive... chances of that?
-
im so so frustrated with LG.. i look at this thread probably 20 times a day jus hoping that someone would put up a post with some news on LG P330.. its jus so frustrating cos this was the perfect laptop for me and im sure it is for many of you out there ..it had all the right configurations in the perfect size ... but im so fed up with LG now.. no news at all since months.. we don even know if it will ever hit the market now.. so much of promise by LG jus bites the dust... im so frustrated waiting for this laptop that now im practically giving up on it.. im thinking to buy the new samsung series 7 laptop which is being released on oct 2nd... i jus hope LG comes out with something by then regarding the P330..
-
this is so annoying, i finnally decided to go for the x220 instead, but now there are no good online deals for it, and the aussie dollar has dropped against the USD. I can't win!
-
i think this laptop is a mythical creature
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
*Cough* Vaporware *Cough*
-
Agreed. Although even if they come out with it now it's kinda late, might as well wait for ivy bridge.
-
in which case, even more people will be satisfied with intel onboard graphics, making this laptop less appealing to many.
-
I doubt the ivy bridge intel onboard graphics will even compete with a GT 555m class 1 card. Maybe for casuals it might that watches HD videos and run basic games which the Intel HD 3000 can do now.
-
Ivybridge will not replace dedicated GPUs at the GT 555M level. But, I suspect that some Ivybridge units will support EGPUs or use the new AMD 7000 series GPUs. They are still 6 months away however. Still plenty of time for LG.
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Or they could up the ante by waiting for mobile Kepler GPUs.
-
What's the real world battery life on these?
-
Haha lol ... Real world battery life?? I'm sorry dude this thing is not even in this world..
Laptop hasn't been released yet.. We think LG killed it.. -
Probably 10 hours in my fantasy world. Could be 8 or 6 or 4 who knows!!
-
it's official, i've given up on this and paid for an x220.
will be putting in an 80gb msata ssd and 1tb 9.5mm drive, that way i get the storage space that the P330 offered.
i can live without dedicated graphics, and i am getting something that costs less, and likely better build quality.
will have to sacrifice the lower res (assuming the P330, if it even exists, will be 1600x900)
LG, you snooze you lose -
Well me too.. Couldn't wait any longer for this laptop.. Thought I would go with Samsung series 7 chronos but gave up on it too cos of weak gpu in it's 14 & 15 inch laptops.. And 15.6" was jus way too big for me..
So bought a 14" toshiba r840 which gives about 6.5 to 7hrs of battery life and it has a express card slot which I'm gonna use for a DIY eGPU implementation so that I can play battlefield on full ultra settings.. Already ordered a overclocked Asus gtx 560 Ti...can't wait to set it up..
I waited so long for this laptop jus cos it looked so promising but LG did a great job by making us wait & wait & wait and they killed all my hopes..
At least if LG had killed P330 , they should have let us know so that we people can move on.. Even if LG is planning to release it in the future, by that time there will be better 13.3" laptop in the market..
Good Luck to all those who are awaiting for this laptop. -
yep given up. i got my sony sa. Very nice machines. bit loud. very good gaming performance. ran battlefield 3 very well. although this laptop was my conquest instead of the lg p330. . i now want the asus u46sv. if only i went to the shop sooner i would not of ended up with 2 sony sa. (short story caused by haste)
-
why the u46sv? its bigger, has a lower resolution screen, and a roughly comparable graphics card to the SA?
-
Trust me...its not bigger. the sony sa is 33.7cm long. i never knew of the u46sv till i saw it in the shop by the off chance of getting some ink from my printer. it actually looked smaller than my sa. it is 33.3cm long. my thinking is that the scree bezel on the u46sv is smaller allowing a bigger screen in the same size. whats clever about asus is that the screen is about an inch in from the back of the laptop so when its open, although is the same size laptop in dimensions looks alot smaller cos of the lid plced as it is. the sony sa looks bigger because the lid is opened behind the end of the laptop instead of top the back of the laptop which is the common.
the size factor was one of the key things why i selected the sa as i wanted a 13.3" for something not to big on my lap having been use to me x120e which im used to the lower resolution in it which i sold this week.
anyway my main reasons is i have gf who complains about the noise clicking on the mouse of the sa. when i touched the u46sv it seems quite soft to press and she witnessed that (maybe demo models have had alot of presses? or maybe new out of box ones do click cos asus buttons usually do have loud clicks).
the other point is the fan noise is extremely noisy to what im use to in the sa. my asus g53jw makes less noise, literally unoticeable. i have had 6 asus laptops in my possesion so i figure asus product are made well like that (i know not all products are quiet from asus). -
lol, good luck putting that 9.5mm drive in the x220. It only takes 7mm drives
-
you just need to dremel a couple tabs down and it fits fine
-
Hey guys,
I live in Korea and just letting you know this product has launched here recently:
G¸¶ÄÏ - ¡ÚLG XNOTE 11¿ù NEW¡ÚP330-UE40K¡Ú5½ÃÀÌÀü´çÀϹ߼ۡÚÅùè...
I'm not sure about launch dates in other countries but the product IS alive and IS being sold... hope it helps. -
damn, i am surprised. The thing is I just got the 3820 couple months ago.
-
Yeah, quite a surprise and right out of the blue as well! I was for sure that it was "vaporware". Hopefully more information will follow!
-
Google translate only translates a portion of the page. Anyone who reads Korean? Does it confirm IPS panel anywhere?
The notebook is beautiful. Maybe it's just the pictures, but it looks thinner than the CES prototype. How can LG possibly keep a GT 555M cool in there? Can't wait to hear some owners' reviews. -
I feel the same way, staying sceptical until proven otherwise
Looking forward to some reviews as well and I hope the thread/hype will flare up once again
-
Looks like no 900/1080p screen.
So pretty though. -
I feel that even 900p is quite extreme on a 13" screen and stepping up to 1080p would probably require a magnifying glass
A 1440x900:ish resolution would have been nice though.
-
If the P330 had dual fan setup like the 3820tg, would it be adequate enough to cool the CPU and GPU? It would be interesting to see what kind of gpu and cpu you can put inside a 13" laptop with a dual fan setup. IMO Ditching the optical drive for a fan is a great idea, and I don't see why more laptops are made this way.
BTW I googled Yahoo Japan and Yahoo Taiwan and found nothing. It would be a huge disappointment if P330 ends up like it's predecessors, the P300 and the P310..
