What types of improvements have people had updating their NVIDIA drivers? I have had mixed experiences updating laptop vid drivers in the past. Sometimes things get better or faster sometimes they get worse and/or slower.
Thanks!

Thank you guys for your support
I think the nvidia driver is the only thing I will update..
BTW would you recommend a system backup or somth like that when I get the laptop? If yes which tools or apps would you recommend?
The next question will come when im getting an ssd, but this will take a few months so dont worry
Thanks a ton -

Spoke to LG costumer support today. They will contact me again within two working days about picking up the laptop so that they can fix it and they will return once it is done. Apparently all for free. It is looking pretty pretty good.

Hi, have any of you P330 owners here changed the default wireless NIC to Killer 1102 or 1103? I tried the Killer 1102, but I got disappointing result, i.e. low (very low) signal and sudden disconnects. The best result I got with an Intel 6300 (with only 2 antennas though).
-
Sadly it doesn't seem to like 300Mbps on my WNDR3700 router (haven't tried 130Mbps). A poster over at an Alienware thread said that installing the OpenWRT firmware should fix that.
EDIT: Changing from the stock Netgear firmware to OpenWRT allowed me to properly utilize this network card. I can say, after a bit more use, that Windows reports slightly lower signal strength with the Killer 1103 than with the stock Atheros card. An area where I used to cycle between 3 and 4 bars have now gone to a solid 3. -
Still dunno why updating to a new Nvidia driver would cause LG intelligent update and other LG software to stop working >< -
1. Uninstall the main driver, let it reboot and unintall PhysX and the HDMI audio driver (everything from Nvidia is supposed to be removed).
2. Download the driver to the HDD and extract it to the HDD.
3. Replace the inf file inside the driver directory found inside the the newly extracted folder. Run the setup file in the extracted folder.
4. Install everything apart from Nvidia nview and remember to tick the clean install box.
That's how I install it, but I doubt there's anything in my way of doing it that would make a difference. -
Also the inf, is it a different one? When I click the link it says not found. -

Hi! I saw many people where discussing the alternatives to the LG P330. Until now i haven't seen any real competitors in the same portability class. But i just read on Engadget( Gigabyte unveils U2442 ultrabooks and P2542G gaming laptop at CeBIT -- Engadget) that gigabyte will release a 14 inch ultrabook with a 640m 2gb. It's lighter (1.49 kg) and thinner (20.5 mm) but presumably wider and deeper due to the bigger screen, 900p & 14", and the larger bezels. The gpu should be a bit more powerful (the 635m being the 555m). If only the cooling is good enough I guess you people not living in Korea will have a nice alternative in this gigabyte laptop.
-
The U2442 looks nice. How good is the performance of a 640m compared to 555m in P330?
-
).
-
holy!
backlit keyboard,
900P
light weigh,
good GPU,
it got everything I need. too bad seems like it wont release for at least another 6 month? who knows what other company may come out then?
well, my B-day is in Sep, one of them is gonna be my gift at that time -
We will have to wait a little bit to see how the 640m compares to the 555m! Also there is a 650m!
Also: Removable Battery ?
Looks like its fixed when you look at the pictures of U2442 its soo thin that it probably is
Also temperature is interesting and maybe its a nerfed 640m (Just look at how incredibly thin it is!!)
Lets hope they not mess it up by soldering the internals and either providing insufficient cooling or downgrading the 640m! And if its a fixed battery I can live with it, but please provide a powerful one then atleast ! -
-
Uhh how quickly my opinion can change.. Gigabyte has super specs, but the build quality seems quite crappy! You can see the ventilation openings on the back of the notebook though, so maybe cooling is efficient?
And looks like it has a fixed battery, but what bugs me even more is the build quality
Just look at the video for the build quality at kurtcocaines link
Also, its said to run for 5 hours.. so probably in reality 3 to 4 hours? Weak battery -.- -
Yeah, Engadget did say that it gave a mixed quality feel because of the plastic. Still, that is one smexy ultrabook if that GT640M delivers. I have a hunch it won't come out before Windows 8 though since it was running Windows 8 CP.
-
Only one of the variants, the other had windows 7.. there is a U2442n and U2442v
so it could be that it gets released q2 or q3
check out the keyboard flex

I am in the marker for a powerful 13.3" laptop and this caught my attention but do we ever get a confirmation whether the P330 will come with an IPS screen? The one in the review seems to come with a TN panel.
Sigh... it's crazy difficult to find a 13.3" Windows notebook with a good display. If my budget were unlimited, I would go for the Vaio Z in a heartbeat. -
So, will this design survive when Ivy Bridge is released, or will it be redesigned. The new Acers are implementing the GT640M Kepler core which should significantly decrease power and heat in the GPU.
-
Only time will tell and judging how long it took for the p330 to come out.. it will take some time and especially no public announcements via LG xD
But when is the next computex again? As far as I remember the p330 was only shown at the computex?
Also it doesnt have to be true that the 28nm gpu is cooler, since it uses turbo boost like the intel cpus (obviously not exactly the same process) and it has more transistors in less space.. but at a lower voltage than 40nm, but when turbo boosted, who knows if it throttles like the sandy bridge cpu or in combination with the ivy bridge cpu, we will see ^^
Also first benchmarks show 640m is about equal to 555m, the 650m is probably 15 to 30 percent faster than the 555m I guess.. The 11.6 inch clevo has the 650m btw, so there will hopefully be a 13.3 inch notebook with a 650m -
-
but it has a 11.6" screen. -

another 768p. this is a cursed #!
who said 768p is goog enough for 11"? then why the hell new ipad has 1500p for 9"? (sorry, cant help it but to bring up ipad again)
remember when veryone thought regular cellphone was enough, then came alone iphone changed everyone the way looked at phone completely?
remember the first time you saw the retina screen? i believe thats the 1st for any cellphone at the time. that made me got one of the apple...
no, i dont have a factory makes laptop, but if I do, I will make one 11" with 1500p just to beat apple.
but for now, we can all sit back and watch apple come out air or pro with the 1500p soon...
BTW, I love apple, but NO, even with 1500P macbook, I am not getting it. Windows is more fun for now^^ -
Having 1500p on the P330 would've killed native resolution gaming. It's a pitty that they moved away from the IPS panel though. I was really looking forward to that aspect of the notebook.
-
-
It's what could've been and it looks gorgeous.
-
(I guess making the clean install VS simply upgrading on a previous version made all the difference)
-
-
Has anyone gotten the chiral scroll function to work on the synaptics drivers?
This saves me a lot of time scrolling through long pages and documents.
Thanks in advance! -
-
I'm actually looking for smth to replace my Acer 1810TZ with (it's a shame they've killed the 11,6" line). Now, I like the P330 a lot and could consider the 13,3" size increase, but then it should have the 1600x900 resolution (backlit keyboard and an IPS screen wouldn't hurt either).
Clevo specs look great for the size, but the chassis seems to be rather plasticky..
Asus B23E might be an option, but looks a bit thick - perhaps the 12,5" screen might be replaced with the IPS one from the P220? The backlit U20 keyboard seems like a no brainer upgrade.. -
-
Just an update on the warranty of the p330. I sent it around a month ago and they are still waiting for a part for it to arrive from Korea. The guy said that it will be around 3 weeks before I can have the laptop back...
-
Man I dunno if I should get this laptop or just pick up a alienware laptop. This does look pretty sweet though. Has anyone try to run this with diablo 3?
-
I know Natadiem tried Diablo 3. Unfortunately he doesn't roam these parts of NBR anymore since he's selling his P330. But you already know that.
-
I've been playing the beta for the last couple weeks on my p330-ue40k (with the 301.24 beta drivers). It's definitely playable and depending on your preferred settings you'll play comfortably between 40-65fps with action on the screen.
I tried playing with everything maxed (shadows, physics, vsync off) and it dipped down into the 30s with a lot of mobs. I turned shadows to mid and it climbed up to 40s, turning shadows to low put it in the high 40s-low 50s, and turning shadows completely off pushed me up into the mid 50s-60. Again, these numbers are only with 4+ mobs on the screen mid-weapon-slash with blood and body parts flying around. When just walking around town or alone I was hitting 60-70.
My personal preference for this game is vsync on, shadows low, everything else high. Averaging ~50fps mid-fights. Indoors is slightly higher (last screenshot) depending on how many mobs are onscreen.
It's certainly different for me compared to my old desktop, but while I don't have that luxury now, this will certainly make due.
