pixelot's monolithic thread was fading, so thought I'd post a wallpaper from linux-look.be. Not a lot there right now, but they are off to a good start. Working on doing a complete deinstall/reinstall of compiz and emerald to work better with Kubuntu per here
EDIT: removed Compiz as the cube and wobbly windows just wasn't worth the performance hit....keep the cpu at around 10% all the time, just compiz...Attached Files:

I like it, except for . . . Vista!! Ugh.

where can i get the panel background?
-
I don't see anything related to vista at all on there, what do you mean?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

i believe i got it on art.gnome.com
can't remember which one it is though. -
Sir bmwrob was referring to my vista icon on my kubuntu desktop
Just caught that myself (what he meant)
-
Oh, now i see. When i post my Linux desktop it'll have that too, i have vista on this computer but only because i don't feel like deleting it. I use Linux a lot, and don't need windows. I find Linux to be better than windows so i rarely boot into it.
-
Same here, maybe once a week I boot into windows, unless I get on a GalCivII Twilight rampage....then I tend to stay there

Kubuntu 8.04 "After". Posting this just so those that have not used KDE know they don't have to get stuck with a total Eyesore:

I like it, Zoid, except for . . . LOL
Windows is now gone from all my machine except one, which I very rarely use. Kept it because I was having problems (of all things) copying Linux ISOs using . . . Linux. (I'm such a damn n00b!) With Ubuntu 8.04 and Mandriva Spring, though, for whatever reason, all seems well with copying data CDs/DVDs. Because I'm not a gamer, I really have no use for Windows any longer; its days on my machines will be ending very soon.
Ditto - waste of disk space for me these days, though I enjoyed it before all you gents got me hooked on Linux. And thank you for that!! LOL -
If it wasn't for the games, Vista (sorry 'rob)
would be gone for sure. I can run my business apps no problem in VB....just data field entry mainly, speed doesn't matter....I've solved my Blackberry Sync issue....it's just games! Strategy strategy....don't have the reflexes any more for FPS's LOL
EDIT: I'm 2 posts ahead of you at this moment, and half the rep....you've really been mixing it up around here!
-
=D My mint desktop is almost ready, just been configuring the look and all, i really like Compiz-Fusion, i keep the settings on highest.
-
Great....post it on Up ! This is a great time wasting thread, not to mention ideas on desktop config....I'm getting tired, can't keep it alive much longer......
-
Rep?? That'll come Zoid, just by hanging around. Look at my join date and compare your own. I haven't contributed at anywhere near your pace (or quality). LOL
-
Jeezus 'rob.......you might have a life after all ! (unlike some faster paced posters) LOL
-
Thanks, Zoid - I do work quite hard, and must get to it, now.
-
ROFL !! Save me a clean cheap one......LOL
-
I work hard as well
.
-
Here is my current Linux desktop, expect it to change on Monday when i install Elyssa beta 2.
-
Nice!, you gonna get AWN?
-
I've already tried AWN and it was easy to set up contrary to what some people say, i just didn't like it for some reason, it felt out of place. I like the icons there more.

Guitarrasdeamor Notebook Evangelist
I hate you guys. You made me want to install Ubuntu.....guess I know what I am installing on the project PC I have..
-
My notebook is just a default theme, here's my desktop PC running ubuntu 8.04:
^ note the insane amount of cpu usage in second pick. Not sure how accurate those screenlets are, but the visualizer is what's making it do that.
With the visualizer turned off it's like 2%...this on a 3ghz core 2 duo, lol. -
Nice, what theme is that exactly? I haven't messed around with 8.04 too much, but I just installed the newest Linux Mint on my old desktop and that looks like something I may want to try out.
-
Great wallpapers guys!
-
Half way through customizing Mint, hope you like.

It looks great Tom. Keep up the customization.

I will, I want oxygen icons
-
Looks good....is that Daryna or Elyssa? I'm using the Oxygen Icons in Kubuntu.
-
Daryna, Mint KDE doesn't have an Elyssa release yet
Heres my recomendations for the Elyssa version: http://linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=109&p=79955#p79789 -
Hmmm, i'm thinking of switching distros...
-
Guys, I need a new distro bad, Mint isn't working out.
I'd like KDE or Gnome. -
Did you ever try OpenGEU?
-
No, I was thinking I would try Debian Gnome or KDE (or maybe sidux).
Might try that though. -
I'm in Windowz right now, so no screeny yet, but here's my login. http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ubuntu+Glossy+Orange+GDM+Theme?content=48752
-
that's what you call some orange gloss ! Have the wallpaper too?
-
-
You know you want to... DO IT!
-
Just the latest work in progress of my distro.
-
Nice pic Tom.
