Now that's different...how is driver support now in CentOS?
EDIT: Nevermind...I checked the kernel
-
Nice wallpaper. The proportions and lines are aesthetically pleasing.
-
-
Wow, that looks really nice and clean.
-
Cool
. It is fairly good for me, Everything works that I need.
Thanks

Ubuntu 9.04.
I don't use compiz, even though I have the necessary hardware. functionality and simplicity over all else. -
Huh, interesting, eric. Are you using the gtk window decorator?
-
I think I recognize that as an Emerald theme.
-
Yes, it is a GTK theme.

Wow ericmc783, could I have a link or name of that background? I think I'm in love.
Thanks. -
after a minimal install and NOT adding compiz, i found that my memory usage dropped down to 170mb or so on boot and stayed under 300mb with normal usage. plus, it added almost 30 minutes to my battery time.
-
ClarkD, I'll post a link to it later today when I can get on the Notebook.
-
I love your wallpaper, May I ask where I can find it or can you post it please, Thnaks.
-
i don't really remember where i got it and i can't post it because it's almost 3mb... pm me your email address and i'll send it to you.

^ I totally want that. Love it
-
Nice FF icon.
So, what are you using for that CPU monitor? It looks like the Gnome panel applet, but it's transparent and on your desktop. Anyways, nice desktop.
Here's a shot of my desktop; I just added a transparent terminal (not borderless or anything super tricked, but I'll try that later). Yes, and unlike both of the above, I DO have compiz enabled.

Mandriva 2009.1 Gnome
.
-
I'm guessing that's the default theme/setup? Pretty sleek.
-
Yeah, just got a new wallpaper, lol.
-
here's mine. i'm running ubuntu 9.04 64-bit, got 2 conky scripts, and cairo dock.
-
Wow, that looks really nice. Thanks for reminding me that I need to use conky.
By the way, is conky responsible for everything on your desktop? I mean the clock and temperature applets, as well as the system info. Thanks!
-
Those temperature applets are definitely in an unstretched gnome-panel. Everything else is stuff I've never seen though.
-
Aha! Shows what a n00b I am. I should've guessed that, the same thing I was wondering a page or two back. But in that case it was transparent. Thanks for the clarification.
-
You can put temps in conky too
. If you use an nVidia card I can put up my .conkyrc for the GPU, CPU and HDD temps (clock speeds too). In return for the awesome background you linked
.
-
if you are talking about my wallpaper, i got it here: http://suigintou.desudesudesu.org/4scrape/img/339139.jpg
and as for the stuff on my screen, the "to do list" and the system info on the right hand side are the conky scripts, i used the following as a template: http://lifehacker.com/5272400/the-colorful-conky-desktop
the temps are from a gnome panel, the hard drive info is from screenlets, and the clock in the center of the screen is from cairo-dock. cheers! -
Pix....you started this thread !! Look at the date
-
I know. LOL.
BTW, I was just remembering some of your layouts. I've been messing around, and this is what it looks like right now. Pretty scary.
Except yours, like this, were way cooler. Hmm.
-
Man, I wish you hadn't done that...I've been yearning for Slackware lately....just waiting on Slack 13.....hmmmm
that a sharp desktop you have there...anything done different to the bottom panel....maybe just my trifocals playing tricks on me.... -
LOL. After posting that, I then proceeded to try and make some custom menus, and succeeded in screwing up the Main Menu, making Software Sources disappear and some strange other entries show up. I then poked around trying to find the settings files, resetting the Gnome panel, trying to log in as root, and eventually turned to the resourceful Internet.
Turns out gksu software-properties-gtk is the Software Sources command, so that's what I entered as a new menu item. I don't have the comment or icon to go with it yet, though. But I can find that when I get home to my desktop. Oh, and Ubuntu kindly restored the two text files I removed and then accidentally deleted one, and couldn't find where they were supposed to go back for a while.
Edit: I tried to install the tint2 panel application, but ran into some trouble configuring pangocairo, and then that got me looking at Cairo dock, and I checked out screenlets too. But conky is so much more hardcore. That's what I think I'll try next.
It would be greatly appreciated.

Arch Linux, KDEmod 4.2.
-
Looks kinda like an operating system for babies.
Well, it's not that bad, but I'd want a different theme and icon set. Hmm... maybe I should try Amarok.
-
Hehe. Amarok FTW! How does it look like an operating syste for babies? lol.
I hacked the heck out of Arch and ended up with about an 8-9 second boot. -
Thomas, make sure you check out Enunes' awesome thread here. Let's not let it die like the conky thread.
-
Haha, mine is uhh.....default
Anyways, another pic:

cool desktop! love amarok 2!
-
Haha me too. It's awesome
.
Anyways upon pixelot's request....new theme....new icons, etc.
http://imagebin.ca/view/F8eD3H.html -
So Amarok 2 works now? A few months ago I tried it and it was totally broken. Couldn't use it at all.
-
Works FANTASTISLY.
Also trying Konversation 1.2 Alpha(QT 4 version). Works great for an alpha. -
Nice - Except for Gnome.
-
Sonata client for MPD is my player of choice. I just did a complete reinstall yesterday.

LOL. I'm planning to try KDE soon.
Hmmm, another media player to try out. This one looks nice. Sweet desktop!
-
How can you make the upper panel transparent? It looks pretty neat, and I havent yet found a way to do that
EDIT: Pfft it was dead simple, I did not realise you could change it from the panel options. Pretty obvious eh. -
LOL. Same thing with me and the transparent terminal. Turns out you can get a nice transparent terminal simply by going to Edit > Profile Preferences > Background.
-
My current desktop:
-
Can't see it very well, but it looks nice. Nice font color, well themed.

Moved to Kubuntu because KDEmod x86-64 got screwed up by the packagers.
Reminds me why I don't use it in the first place.........kubuntu sucks. -
cool cube.
thanx pixelot
