Me too! Servers were telling me 3 hours on average. Tried the torrent and it said 8 mins, with like 3000 seeds. lol

But if you upgrade from 9.04 you have to use the servers right? Or is there a way to use torrent as well?

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I personally don't understand why someone would trying to make their Linux look like a Mac or Windows. I don't mean that one should just purposely avoid using common themes for the sake of it. But purposely making your Linux look like the others is just pretty silly

ha..i've heard that one before..i used to have a problem with it too..
linux..u know is its own OS..and therefore should have its own look..
but i like the colors! it's purrty! :p though everything can be easily undone and replaced back to the linux panel look... whenever i want to change it..

no offense taken..its just to each their own..

I'm not saying it shouldn't be done (hey, it's Linux. There's nothing as 'impossible' Order Pizza Through Unix), but I don't see the point. :p

Why not. Hell, if I could make Windows 7 look like UNR I would. If you like the way something looks and works, then I say "have at it!"

Openbox with a previous version of conky I did and default tint2. Haven't had time to start tweaking it.

    Issues:
    1) conky starts up above other windows and I have to killall -SIGUSR1 conky
    2) It can't recognise some of my keyboard multimedia keys.

You could try using a sleep command to make conky wait to start, then maybe it wouldn't be above other windows.

Hey everyone, what is the best dock in Linux Ubuntu? I am still discovering Linux so something simple is preferred.

    Why the love-hate?

There isn't any 'best dock' because different people have different opinions and choices. Some go for a very dynamic Kiba dock, or a very smooth Avant Window Navigator or go for extremely themeable Cairo dock, or something really simple like Trayer or Launchy. There's plenty more out there. These are only the ones I've tried. It's all about experimentation.

I started with Kiba, but found it too 'messy'; then moved to Cairo, but thought it was too buggy; then to AWN but by that time didn't like docks anymore so just stuck with a simple gnome-panel or tint2. That said, many moons have passed since I've used those other docks, and all of them have most probably improved.

IMO? Docky (gnome-do in repos), Wbar (takes some config, but once it's there, it's great), the rest like Cairo and Awn I'll leave to someone else's opinion.
Anyway, Karmic 64 on my Vostro 12 incher:

    Nice Desktop Zoid...

i've experimented with cairo..awn and docky.
    awn was my least favorite..
cairo had a lot of customizations and was easy to use..i liked docky b/c of the search bar..
    anyways..just experiment..
you have your choice of AWN, Cairo, docky, engage dock, simdock, and kibadock..

with built-in karmic themes and wallpaper.

Makes me wish I had one of those 13'inch HP w/ matching colour
I thought about adding more to the desktop, but i decided to keep the desktop space relatively empty/dark though so i can see the text through transparent terminals

-love the new karmic tray icons.

This is Xubuntu...that's an Xfce panel applet that monitors the CPU levels. I've got it set to LED/Gradient Color because it looks slick.... :p

Just noticed...it looks B & W in the screenie for some reason...it's very colorful....here's a better shot of it....I find it useful when running virtual machines.
