This is my Karmic on my main notebook:

With terminal and Rhythmbox. I've had issues finding a good media player for Karmic. Right now I use both Rhythmbox and Gmusicbrowser. I'd use Gmusicbrowser full time if it worked with Conky but I can't get the script to work right. So it's mostly Rhytmbox. My Conky has changed a bit, I added a calendar and the Rhythmbox now playing.

New custom theme
-
That looks sweet!
I've also had difficulty finding a suitable media player. I really liked foobar2k in Windows.
-
. Indeed very nice. U 2 thomas. Have u tried exaile, songbird or banshee? I am a songbird fan as of now has some nice features and addons. Workz well for meez
-
I was under the impression that Songbird = major Mozilla bloat. Maybe it's better on Linux. (I use Firefox and am a firm fan, BTW. Not that I won't use other browsers now and then).
Maybe Quod Libet? I haven't used it and don't even know what it looks like but I've heard good things about it. -
I've tried banshee, and maybe songbird. I should check it out again. Thanks.
-
Quod Libet....it's a mininalist player...it's OK but wasn't enough of a 'manager' for me to keep it.
-
Gmusicbrowser is the best manager type player I found. You can customize your library format, it reads album art in tags (which Rhythmbox doesn't, which annoys me...). I'd use it full time if I could work it with Conky (just for convenience's sake). Rhythmbox is close second. Exaile was fine too. I don't think I really tried it that much. Never tried Banshee or Songbird I gotta say! On my to-do list...
For Windows I never found anything better than MediaMonkey + user scripts. With MM and MP3Tag I managed to tag/find cover art for over 9,000 songs in just a weekend! All automatic, pretty much. -
It has improved a thousand times over and is better on linux.
-
I've been meaning to get screenshot's while I work in Linux, but always forget! Anyway, after I sleep I will go into Ubuntu.
-
.very nice allanz!! glad yer liking that lava theme..absolutely love what u did with it..
i was half expecting a red audi though! lolllzz
-
hahahaha nope.
-
Maybe it's time to check it out again
EDIT: Quod Libet has REALLY improved since the last time I checked it out.....very nice, real alternative.....good call Thomas
-
I was referring to Songbird....but I'll take the compliment!
-
ah...hehe...well, so has Quod Libet....lol
-
Songbird indeed..
nice user interface..nice addons and extensions, feathers..
my fave so far as mentioned earlier
though after reading here... http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/
Quod libet looks like something of interest i may try.. -
I use Banshee, personally....foobar2000 on Windows.
-
Songbird is nice too....Quod Libet seems to have improved in the year that's passed for me....many more plugins than I remember
Seems to be a better manager than I remember it being...
-
yea..that's what i saw when i looked at the link.
might be of interest..though i do really like the look and ease of songbird..imo
and of course its plugins..
-
I use Audacious
-
Nice desk. I feel like I've seen that wallpaper before, or something like it.
Oh yeah, kicking it old school with some sweet Winamp Classic skins!
-
Me too. The main complaints I have are the lack of album art/lyrics integration like foobar2k has, the way the track time is often inaccurate, and the notify-send time delay between song changes. Oh, and a little more music management would be nice.
But it's nice and simple.

Thanks! . . . .
-
your welcome! i knew i had seen it before on gnome-look..
was looking through some wallpapers for myself and low and behold..haha
soo..will we be seeing a new desktop customization from u with that wallpaper?
-
Stock with Crunchbang 9.04, I just looked through the list and liked it.
Yep tint2. Simple, nice to configure, demands nothing in memory. I really like it. It's not a complex panel and can't do as much as say the Gnome panel, but then again my 512MB Netbook can't do as much as my Gnome laptop...! So it's all good. -
Haha, not quite yet, I'm just getting everything together - hoping to buy a new laptop soon.
ATM I'm only testing everything out in VM's. (Before I go make a mess of my to-be computer). -
-
hehe nice
happy st patty's day!
-
Hhaha that's awesome.

I have a feeling that green is going to burn your eyes once you get one too many Guinness glasses in you

What's that "Application" desklet thing? And what music player are you using?
-
Songbird for music player! has been my fave out of all the ones i've tried so far
as far as the application menu on the desktop, it comes from the screenlet manager
-
Songbird? That's not songbird! Impossible!
What skin is that?
I've used sonata all the while. It looks beautiful and fits with mpd perfectly. I tried songbird but still preferred Sonata because it was just so small and dockable. -
LOL...its the Chromibird theme
if you ever try songbird here's a nice list of appearance themes for ya : http://addons.songbirdnest.com/search?page=1&query=themes&x=0&y=0
