Looks good, Joel. But two GIMP icons?

Here's a first look at my Mint 9 install.

There I'm in the process of customizing my GRUB screen and login theme. It's harder than in Jaunty, but possible. :D

P.S. The screenshot came out kind of ugly, but the Expose feature looks really nice (the shadows aren't blocky and dark like that) and the top TTY window is transparent.

Yep, it's called conky. You can install it with sudo apt-get install, and then run it with Alt+F2. To customize what you see, you can edit your ~/.conkyrc file, like 1ceBlu3 said. Here's mine:

When I run the $ sudo apt-get install conky it says "command not found" and then when I downloaded and ran a .deb file, it said there was one already installed, so I downloaded another one, and that said Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libasound2 (>> 1.0.22).

Maybe I'm just not meant to be running conky.

    Looks sweet.

My only real gripe left with Mint is that it, when the display turns off after 5 or 10 minutes, depending on power or battery, it doesn't recover when I jiggle the mouse. It just slowly dims and turns off, and then I have to unlock it before I can get back to the movie I was watching or whatever. I can't find an option to fix that.

Search the menu for Screensaver and uncheck "Lock screen when screensaver is active" and, to disable the screensaver, uncheck "Activate screensaver when idle".

I know, but I like having it lock when I'm not using it. I just want to be able to recover before it locks. But maybe I'm remembering incorrectly and I had Jaunty set up only to lock when it went to Suspend or something. Meh. :p

Heres another one. I am absolutely in love with Ubuntu! I love the fact it only uses a couple hundred meg of Ram too! (On average about 290-320, and about 470 when running two VM's!), and I can't wait until I get my eBay account back so I can replace the "Designed for Windows XP" sticker with the "Powered by Ubuntu" one!!

Nice wallpaper there. Looks like you've got some aliasing issues with some of your dock icons, tho. :(

Any chance at a quick walkthrough, I downloaded AWN, but couldn't get it to be anything but a dock.

Even did a 20 minute sweep on google for it, but no luck.

    Thanks in advance!

Loving Mint 9. Haven't booted into my windows 7 in a LONG time. I've been trying to get CAD up and running for while now, and just succeeded a couple of days ago. I see no point in booting into windows other than for gaming. :D
