it happened to me after i messed with the Bios settings , spd etc etc .. what did you do ? my solution was to reset it

 

could it be a bios issue? anyways i've never messed with the bios. i don't even know the bios version i have. am i suppose to update it? however i dont want to tamper with bios but i will if it solves the matter even though it rarely happens.

 

Well it's not the same issue i had so a reset is off the menu and not sure if an update will help , tho you could try .. when you 1st switched it on the screen remains black ? or is it after start up ?

 

when i first switch it on the screen remains black. then i press the power button again to turn the laptop off. i press the power again and it starts up fine. it rarely happens but when it does, its annoying.

i really want to resolve this issue before it gets any bigger. also, the last time this happen was about 3 weeks ago, maybe 4.

 

like mine then but without the messed up bios settings .. ok , I would unplugged the notebook , remove the battery , then take off the small cell inside the notebook (be careful not to break that thing that holds it) , wait 5 mins then pop everything the way it was , switch it on , go into bios load the default settings , save & exit .. now it's up to you if you wanna give it a go

2nd option is to update BUT i don't think it's related

That happened to me a while back a few times. I've never fiddled with bios or anything. One day I pressed the power button, walked away. Screen never turned on. Whenever I just turn it off, its fine after that.

The only problem with flash clocking the gpu is its a bit scarey i have to admit, i can get like 9k on vantage CPU but thats about it, i know the 4850 can take up to 1125 memory on the GPU when properly cooled and flash clocked.

 

How do you plan on cooling it THAT well?

 

Bottom off, bottom raised, sub 0 temps in my room, prehaps even a big cooling fan blasting the bottom?

 

That is going to be sick. Make sure you take some pics if your camera will operate in those temps lol

There a rare breed for out machine, except occasionally alienware sells them.

As for you lambo, i have the sub zero temps (and some snow) the big cooling fan isnt so big but it covers the whole open area of the gt725,

And i believe i've found the ol' German forums i used to camp around they have a memory timing tool which appears to actually work

Len, I may be old but... Anyway, yes I was referring to your RAM. My system has Transcend, but it's the jetram, which is not designed for serious OC. If you want to do some serious OC, you'll need to use a premium grade RAM.

 

And that's why I got rid of mine

OK, I'll bite... What did you get for replacment? I've been looking at Kingston HyperX (KHX6400S2ULK2/4G), with 4-4-4-12 timings. But the USD $200 is a big chunk of change. Mind you, for another $50 I can get 8gb!

How easy is it to play video games on my HDTV with my laptop? Do I just hook up the HDMI cord. How would I get my game sounds on my television also? Does the HDMI take sound from the sound card as well as video from the video card? Also, how would I do it to a standard CRT VGA tv, like the one with the red, yellow, and white plug?

Do I need any kind of software or what? I just wanna play some games on my sexy big screen.

I think you will need an adapter to convert the vga cable that goes in the gt725 to a scart cable

 

That would be a bad idea, unless there's no alternative.

You will be going from digital to analogue which kind of defeats using HDMI, since the signal will become down scaled and crappy. Better to go VGA phono to Component, the adpter will be cheaper, and you will be able to go straight out from VGA.

 

Yeah the tool memset supposedly works with our machines.

I got some higher timing hiyundai (car company) ram as my replacement, so i may try overclock with that (CAS of like 6) and take the default stick out.

Apparently hyundai electronics are actually reliable though.

Mine is a CL5 , CL4 is supposedly faster but more expensive got mine for 45£ i know , but what's the point going for 8 when none of my app or games won't take advantage of ? crysis on 64bit uses like 55%+ something of the rams .. so going for 8 is useless IMO. I'd rather get a new proc , which i will once my case with paypal is done

i tried playing on my HDTV .. image quality suck big time using HDMI to HDMI , tried every settings and res available but in vain .. it works nicely using DVI-D .. try to use an HDMI to DVI-D which i think will work better compared to the H&H ..

Len, what did I say about bios flashing!?! Childern never listen to their elders. So, is it still not right? Please try to clarify what happened.

 

i flashed both lastest bios and EC. when my pc power on there the screen is black and it sas windows 7 starting for 1 sec or less i hear a noise which isnt comes from speakers and screen flash once.the problem is still there.i read lot of forum and it maybe bios or a program.i run both w7 32bit which is clear and i got same problem . so the problem is bios..do you know where i can find older bios for our mobo? maybe u can read it from yours and send it to me. lampo said that he sad never flashed and has stock bios n EC..

Its whine from your CPU or power components i think (i get it, mainly from hard drive interference i think as it varies on the level of usage.)
