I don't see any good reason to carry on updating/upgrading the ATI driver every month unless you have a 5 series card . The release note or the hotfix doesn't contain anything related to the 4 series .. or am i missing something here ?

in a day or 2 he will come crying again like he always do

Sometimes they fix bugs with new games, or add feature improvements/optimisations.

Not always and beyond a certain point its not as important to keep up to date, but can certainly make a difference.

On the plus side as you're not crossfire dependant things like profiles won't make the same differences to you!

The new 9.12 hotfix is mainly designed for the 5 series cards and imo a better gaming experience with the newer drivers.

Both MSI and ATI graphics work, however reinstalling the MSI set, messing with the pci timer, and then reinstalling ati ones (no hotfix) seemed to have fixed my issue.

Although the modern warfare museum has some lag strangely where as the game itself doesn't.

I just think its down to playing in 1080p for me, if its using all the vram and wanting more then it could have some trouble.

Im trying Cryostasis, I uninstalled everytthing, redled the MSI ones from our driver list, then restarted, then installed 9.12, then installed 9.12 hotfix, STILL the dumb stuttering that teleports your game back every few seconds, like
i dont get it but its soooooo annoying, and what is the pci timer

It may be minor a fix, but this is straight from the website (I almost missed it):

Support for the OpenCL™ GPU component of the ATI Stream SDK v2.0
    • The ATI Catalyst™ 9.12 hotfix release provides full support for GPU acceleration of OpenCL when used in conjunction with the ATI Stream SDK v2.0. This feature is supported on theATI Radeon™ HD 5970 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series and the AMD FireStream™ 9200 Series of products.

I think it's the pci latency timer in the bios , default setting for it is 64
Still not a good enough reason for me to jump ship ;)

Go into bios and set your PCI latency timer to 64 or 96, see if it picks up.

    Hey guys,

I just got a Razer Lachesis gaming mouse and installed its software onto my GT725. For some reason now whenever I turn on my computer System Control Manager shows up in my Taskbar. It has always shown up on the far right where all the other little icons show up, but its annoying for it to be taking up space in my taskbar.

Any ideas as to whats goin on?

Controls how long it hangs onto a PCI device i think (thats as much as i know but there can be performance differences.)

Hard drive usage, how many processes you running etc?

Could be a hand full of things, set 3d settings to default and make sure overdrive is not set.

55 processes, and ill default all CCC settings, but im sure its a driver issue, cause i had this before, and new drivers fixed it, but idk im not too good with pc

ccc was all default, i forgot that i reinstalled everything, so that rules that out

Hey guys, I dont think I explained the problem correctly. I am cool with the SCM icon being in the taskbar on the right, but now it shows up here (circled in the attached print screen) whenever I turn my computer on. What can I do about this?

Hmm, its strange, prehaps its having trouble with UAC? you could disable SCM in msconfig or try and give it system launch rights.

:D .. what is it doing on the right , anyway what option do you get while right clicking it ? uninstall and reinstall should do it

@mark , PCI latency timer controls the amount of time or cycles a device uses the pci bus or something .. I tried every single settings when I 1st got my notebook and never once saw a gain in performance related to it .. the legends says if you put it on the lower settings it will improve performance , well i'm still waiting to see that

EDIT : OR was it while increasing it improves ...... ? anyway i forgot :p

It doesn't give me any option when I right click it, not even to close it. I was thinking about just getting rid of SCM...Is it necessary? What exactly does it do?

It's important for the touch sensor keys like turbo and the others ..Uninstall , download it here : http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=utility&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1676 , then reinstall it (if you use the touch sensor keys)

The last time my game lagged I uninstalled everything , let driver cleaner & sweeper does their magic , then reinstalled .. All these worked for me but not for you .. Right click ccc and set it to performance and see if your game still stutters , also set overdrive to 530/880

Do you mean just the video drivers, or any system drivers? Are you trying to re-install the video drivers from MSI, or those from ATI? If the latter, you have to use the modder first.

Inquiring minds need to know. ;)

Re-use mobility modder with UAC off, remember the INF has to be correct for it to pickup, if not manually install from device manager.

It would give small performance gain, but nothing massive, although in some cases it will be noticable.

Guys i just tried modern warfare 2 "endgame level" in 1080p with 4x AA right.

And it wasn't laggy? if its making that many passes on the game with AA i would expect servere lag.

The only time i saw lag was from high level particle effects (from say water being hit by missiles) and some minor lag during the rapids scene.

well I bypassed by problem, by manually installed 9.12 drivers with lambos help, and turns out my stuttering on Cryostasis was a result from the patch I applied, and not my drivers x.x

    all that problem for nothing
