Yeah, we found that without modification we can get 2, occasionally 3 cores overclocking themselves for a single thread (you can do this by following the earlier youtube examples.)

Now it seems that darth actually got what was originally started, to work properly, and now were locking IDA/DDA in :).

Darth, which program are you using to lock eist in?

We also have speed step options in the bios too dont we?

Edit* Damit just realised, q9000 is running on frikin half multis.

Interesting stuff. Once you get it perfected Im interested in the readings, I'd like to see if my X9100 wants to show some extra legs :D
..Although perhaps Im being greedy, my 2 cores already operate at 3070Mhz when they're not idling :D
Know it'll do 3.3+ though from my multiplier clocking with my M17.

Well alex, give one core a shot.

Go to youtube, find a 720p video (hopefully this works.)

Then go to task manager, assign all your IExplorer processes to core 0 with the afinity option, and play the video, monitor which ever core oc's (if it does) with CPU-Z, :)

Hmmm :( What about intel XTU? (I think it was.)

Strange that, maybe your machine doesnt have IDA/DDA features?

Possibly. Im not overtly enamoured with the Nvidia chipset ;)

If you load CPU-z whats the multiplier range your CPU breaks...when IDA kicks in does it go OVER the shown range? Also XTU doesnt work as I dont have an Intel based machine :(

Just incase you havent had a chance to miss through yet, heres the screenie

So does this kick in for you guys when you use setfsb as well? I tried the hd video trick for mine and it almost never went past its x6 multiplier and when it did it jumped to x8 which is normal. If it works with setfsb that might make it worth it though.

I dont think you can unfortunately lena, unless we find a bios bypass (someone would need to mod it.)

And why in blazers would you wana change your cpu voltage :S?

I dont know how to change bios pics unfortunately, but yeah the bios i post are old :p there meant to be! they dont have the limiter thats why we use them hehe.

I could rip the advents bios, but i think that could be fairly risky unless someone did a good comparison of the two inside out.

I think it's my processor by default , that's why i asked lena for some screenhots to compare .. HWinfo , everest and sometimes cpuz read it the same @ 2.6 10x ... and that with EIST on .. when it's off it read it @ 2.4 9x .. confusing ? :p

2.6 .. as most seems to read it that way  anyway , the guy tod me that turning EIST will force the clocks @ the ida frequency , that's on a dual core .. go ahead and try it , disable the thing in ur bios and activate 2 core

Thanks! I rather wondered why some people seem to prefer slot, as I didn't see a significant advantage. I would have thought they'd be more prone to dust, etc. And with the tray, if all else fails you've got the pin hole to get the disk out, so I would surmise with slot type it would have to be dissasembled to retrieve a stuck disk.

<.< I like the slot load drives, but I've heard some pretty bad stories about them. I recall a forum member posted a while back that his dell slot load laptop would launch the cd out when he hit eject.

Haha, i think slot loadeds are pretty good too, but like vulv said, it breaks down, dismantle job (or double sided sticky tape card) job right there, thats the only problem with them.

I know the dell/alienware m17x had a user or two with a malfunctioning slot druve, but they could force eject it by holding eject while booting up, thats the only fail safe i've known of.

Mind you my slot loaded drive in my cars broke :( cant get the disk out.

OR you can get an external bluray player which in my opinion would cost you less . Anyway , remember we talked about touchpad protectors etc ? I got mine in today :D Haven't got the chance to stick it yet but it looks great without any blown up pixels and stuff .. check attached Very "high Quality" pic i've taken :p
EDIT : I screw up on the sizing ! had to do a lot of cutting ...
wished mine was like that instead of getting stuck in all the time ..

I would prefer a slot drive. Pull out laptop drives are generally extremely flimsy feeling, the GT725 included. Some slots even have a little brush type thing right at the entrance to stop dust etc.

But a disk-shooting drive? Thats hilarious! Kind of like the sd card spacer in the GT725 :D

    Hi,
Do you guys perhaps know how to set the machine to wake up from standby with an usb mouse? I don't have the option the enable it in device manager (neither in win7 or vista). The option is greyed out. Maybe the bios does not support this?
    Thanks!

    That's fine.
But i have 1.10 bios and regardless if i enable or disable "usb legacy support" (which is dos usb support if i'm right) the wake on options for usb root hubs are still greyed out in windows so i cannot turn it on.

@ Animaleyes : I was thinking about changing again but changed my mind after seeing it running over 2.4 without me doing anything :D

So cata , any luck ? Rmclock doesn't seems to like me or any other software on my 725 so I gave up trying ..

Could be .. Comes as ES only. According to some little research I've done , Intel doesn't planned on releasing it

EDIT: Tried Crystal on my studio15 last night and managed to hit 2.5 on multiplier alone :D No luck on the 725 though.

    rmclock always gives me trouble.

crystsalcpuid allowed me to increase my multiplier but only when doing non-intensive tasks. At max, it would reduce back to normal.

Hmm strange darth, i can get a single thread running at 110% total speed all the time, having troubles getting rmclock to work too at the moment, reporting back tommorow.

God, last time anything like that happened, i had a blown ram stick on my hands :p.

Changing the process priority to high seems to shift the clock up slightly more (for me anyway.)
