as for pricing shopping around is a must, im just preaching my advocacy for my ram,

as for cat, its possible for him to drop his timings down a bit to see if that helps with a stable oc, but i dont think itll give him too much. if it doesnt budge at stock speeds at all, then the rams prolly not gonna go anywhere anytime soon.


speaking of pushing stuff, what kind of temps are you guys getting for your quads, im gonna push mine up to 2.4 and try to hopefully get my ram back up to ddr1000 if possible. im gettin about 55c idle at stock.

 

I idle at 40C stock for Q9000, but i haven't idled much at 2.4 since my rams a bit of a mix of cheap, slow/reliable.

The 10.3s are just on beta release right now, but yes they're official.
They're the pre-release drivers that the journos got hold of. The release driver will likely contain a few more minor changes made between now and about a week before release when they go for WHQL.

You only really need DVI if you are using a 1680x1050 22in external.

The reason i'm asking is that my gf has an external screen and it works better with DVI-D Than HDMI to HDMI. Whether for gaming or watching movies. I stil haven't got the chance to try it out though I got a HDMI cable lying under my bed

hey, im wondering which notebook cooler to use? it should be confortable to put on my lap when im sitting in bed, kind of new and with good cooling.
I googled notebook coolers but they seem to not fit the my msi... would be great if anyone could recommend any particular cooler.

Mine is like this but without the USB ports , I got slightly bigger fan though .. 25cm.

 

How do you like it? I like the USB for connecting the cooler to the laptop if nothing else. One less power cord adapter to deal with.

Edit: The one I had before had a straight pin like plug that went into the cooler but was always pulling slightly out. I was forever realizing the fans were off. Very annoying. The USB plugs are a much tighter fit.

 

It's ok , I would prefer the fan to be faster , 800rpm is damn too slow. + i had to take the grill off to actually see a drop in temps.

The USB ports is not a big deal for me as i have a logitech USB hub , awesome little thing.

Yep, the 10.3 betas are the first that include it, and its going to be standard feature from 10.3 official and onwards

Generally the 10.3 betas seem to be going down well, but if you're happy right now, the 10.3s are due next month anyway and will likely have some minor revisions in comparison to the pre-release version.

Shame they didnt disable Physx tests. Right now those are the main problem with Vantage as they can heavily skew the results, and I still find it irritating a gaming benchmark gives beneficial marks to a proprietary API, given how irrelevant it is for the vast number of titles.

Compared to P6842 - GPU 6192 - CPU 9989 (without patch)

Stock run :

Without patch P6320 - GPU 5635 - CPU 9943

with patch P6276 - GPU 5581- CPU 10014

Ps : Don't use the one in the link you posted earlier , it's a 1651 and not barebone either. Our mobo is a 1722.

They won't release any bios as there's nothing that needs fixing. Everything are fine they way they are .. they could implement overclocking with turbo only when hell freezes over

Are you sure you doing it properly ? Most people i know have installed it successfully.

All you have to do is extract and run the .exe , simple as that.

10.3 betas are available, with no need for mobility modder, so surely it'd make sense to just bypass 10.1?

 

Speaking of cooling mods, I'm tempted to cut more slits in the grill below the blower so I can get some acutal airflow moving into that blower. Does the fact that they have barely any airflow in there bother anyone else?

I'm also tempted to rig a second 40cm fan right above the gpu to blow air out, there's two options there for power that may work put well,
one is to make it USB powered, and just have a small dongle and route the power into the laptop...

Second is a more graceful approach involving using that extra pci express slot that's meant for a tv tuner and getting a daughterboard that allows you to connect a cf card, but instead using it to solder leads to the power provided by that port, which is more thsn likely USB voltage, unless the port is true pci express. For that I don't know the voltage but it's still possible to power a small fan.

A third option is one I'm truly hoping for is that someone is able to map the fanspeed controller in our laptop and allow us to manually input fan speeds to create profiles. ie 3d gaming or overclocking...

As of now I haven't found any programs capable of doing this unfortunately.

As for the parts and such, anyone know anywhere where I can get a spare access panel for the 700 series? I might just have to make a massive order through rk here in the near future.

 

Anyway we can get a better cooling fan for the gt725 ?? Anyone Anyone ?
