Hahaha, naa these haven't been properly working since i got the machine, they should be able to handle more volume as the lower ones do :p,

    Buuuut

My VGA port is broken, most likely broken solder, i could attempt a repair job at that? but i don't know how exposed things are in the machine,

Really ? that long ? By the sound of it , warranty claim isn't worth the hassle thanks to DSG :p Anyway , as long as you can still use external speakers , no need to worry.

Broken solder should be easy to repair , hopefully you don't have a shaky hand :p

I want to take mine apart , i need confirmation on that invisible pci-e

I'm fairly sure its definately there,

Hmm either that or something inside of the vga part has shattered, its the pin/whatever that identifies the monitor/screens edid information.

The speakers are good, but when i wan't full 100% madness they make some strange rattle thing.

Time to make good use of those free pci-e's , even for storage purposes if bootable option ain't that easy.

Sometimes when there's a hole or tear in the black thingy it makes that rattling sounds .. On big speakers anyway.

Open it up and see how damaged the ports are , shouldn't be that hard.

A hole or a tear? In the black thingy? hahaha, love your understanding of speakers lol, i think laptop ones are slightly different to conventional drives, but i've not actually taken the top pannel off yet.

The VGA is part of the mobo, so i'd need to completely dissasemble it, can't look at it from the door :/

I think warrenties dead now, although the machine was completely open in the first place, i doubt they'd notice i'd tampered with a unit unless it was a messy job, then thats my fault! haha.

I have been having wireless problems recently with my laptop. I never installed the Atheros Wireless Drivers because I thought that was maybe for a different network card since I have the Intel 5100 AGN. Is there any tweaks I can do to stabilize my wireless? I have a super fast internet, but it randomly just stops on the speed test. Like dead stops. It does it periodically and I mainly notice it on Ventrilo when my ping spikes to 10,000 and goes back to normal. I would appreciate help from you computer literate people. Thank you in advance.

P.S. I have been tampering with the settings of the network card in Device Manager so if anyone could give me their settings that work find for Wireless N, that may also help haha

PPS My internet is at 130 MBPS now also, how do I get it to 300, and yes my router is capable of 350 mbps

Well, I will add. More specifically an issue that appears more common than most is, after I wake up and i.e. my computer wakes up, I notice horrible internet stability. Often times fixing this repairs this issue. I did enable throughput enhancement just because it doesn't sound like it would make my internet less stable. Under Ad Hoc Qos Mode, I clicked WMM enabled. It may or may not be better, but it does appear a little bit more stable. Unfortunately I still am only getting 130 MBPS out of 300 MBPS. I notice that our network card has two attenas that can each receive 150 mbps each. I did something that made it 300 mbps but I may have undid it or maybe it was just temporary. I am not very smart in network cards and have little to no idea what these or the other settings do so kinda just using the powers of observation to see if its good or not lol.

PSS: Just figured out how to get 300 MBPS. I switched it off from just using the 20hz frequency to it using either 20 or 40hz. But still some tweaks that would help stability would be appreciated :)

Get a 6300. It can support up to 3 antennas(which we have) and save you the headaches.

No, I see all red too. I don't really feed the need to upgrade my router or network card for that reason. I am getting 300 MBPS connection now. I also have a 32-33 mbps cable download over wireless, so it's plenty fast. I just wanted tips or some help to optimize/stabilize our current network card that comes in the gt 275 :)

Are you running Win7 or Vista? I've got the same card and had constant drops with Vista, upgraded to Win7 and the problems stopped. That being said, awhile back I upgrarded the driver and started having problems, so I rolled it back (12.4.3.9) and it's been rock solid.

I don't have Wireless N, so I dunno if my settings would help.

Ahaha! Chris, you bust the limit right open! knocked it on the head (Y).

Hmm Dead, Chris also knows of another ICS i think for our mobo so that allowed him to go slightly further.

Ram timings, how did you change CAS? Tis locked off for me,

Found some PC2-6400 2GB 800Mhz qimonda memory going for £20 local, might grab it for oc purpose, i think qimonda are reliable memory manufacturer.

With that rated fsb the q9000 would be on fire right now :D, howd you do it then? haha, or do i have to stalk you on the other forum!

Is that the barebone bios we originally used? Or have you a tool that bypass the limits (Like we have with the GPU.)

If you found one let me know :p It's good to have one as spares. I bought some thermaltake BGA1 last week and it's too high to stick on the heatsink .. Need some very low profile ones.

Ordered some slim ones just in case , but have to wait 10000 yrs to get it (HongKong)

Gonna mod the crap out of it :D I need a spare heatsink too

Yeah the holes are doing great job , not that suitable for people who travels a lot though :D

i just took screen shot of normal temp i m gonna play for next few hours and once its gone black i ll take screen shot agin and will post them here

rest up to you guys to tell me how bad it is lol

Haha, i do travel, and i drop the book alot, massive holes would probably shatter the bottom :p,

I also plan on going quite crazy with mods, although i'd need some adhesive paste of the sort, i may actually try and bridge the heatsink slightly to the bottom lid to dissapate, can't remember if the underside door is just plastic or metal/plastic hybrid.

Might attempt to some how broaden all the heatsinks slightly at different positions, but don't wan't to suffocate the airflow, thats one thing that seems to be decent on the machine,

Could also try find some small fans and power them off USB internally, or perhaps even the mini pci slot?

Faisal, you could just go ahead and leave hw monitor open in the background, it shows min and max temps which is handy, so you won't need to screenshot every two minutes hehe.

Good luck tracking the problem (Y).

Haha, i actually have some cheap fans, although i'm not 100% sure they'l fit, and ofc with usb there not nearly as powerful as say, full power units, personally, we should strip as ps3 down, take that whop off fan and stick it in the 725 (Its actually massive lol.)

Off to watch some die hard, back in two or three hours haha.

Hmm, might be worth trying it, BC2 runs good, still stuck with 50-60% core usage though, it refuses to fix, will try a fresh install soon enough though, i am enjoying single player atm :D.

I should think that if you delete it, then let Windows re-install it on restart, it should load factory defaults.

    Dead/Cat

I picked up one from ebay a while back and currently have been dremeling the hell outa it trying to work on buffing the cooling, and for the most part ive gotten load to stay closer to a crispy 81c as apposed to 90c, impressive, however i have discovered that there is more to the cooling plan than expected.

msi hasnt designed the heatsink to the the ONLY way to cool the machine down, and i think why darths idea of putting ramsinks on top of the cooler is so effective, simply put, most of the airflow enters from the two largest grids on the laptop and is pulled across the components doing most of the cooling there, ensuring each componnent is stable, the idea is ingenious because the more sensitive components are cooled first, ie the ram and chipset, and then secondary cooling is applied to the powerhouses, the proc and most importantly the gpu.

I am currently having trouble locating them, but i need to get some of those little coolers that individually are placed on top of the ram chips, worst comes to worst ill just dremel my own. Though the main important thing is finding tape that actually keeps things stuck together, the tape ive gotten from hong kong isnt designed to keep things on top, and i dont want electrically conductive stuff bouncing around in my machine.

If I remember right I bought a load of little ramsinks off them when I was playing around with the cooling on my M17. Akasa also do some more basic little heatsinks which I think a few of the larger shops sell.

Most of these will come with thermally conductive tape already fitted, as they're usually applied direct to RAM chips, and its the exact size of the heatsink base, so unless you have to file it to make it thinner, shouldnt cause many issues.

Still got a load put away in one of my parts drawers, along with some jelly thermal pads etc (I couldn't use the better Enzo ones as they were slightly too tall, and I never got round to filing them down to fit with the level of clearance I had before the machine died :().

The Zalman ones they stock might be better in your case though because of how the fins are designed to bend. The Enzos theoretically should cool better, but may require more work to fit.
