The 10.3 WHQL, or 10.3b preview should be the best.
Can't remember the exact driver revision unfortunately, the 9.7 reading is sometimes a bug, but try and make sure you've got the latest CCC too.

10.3b is fairly recent and contains some minor battlefield fixes. There is also an OGL4 beta floating around which is roughly the same age as the 10.3b

Muahaha, see what we've got going here guys, a squad of cooling peops, and an m17 cool modder, project freeze has some great info, i think elec should be here too as he completely ram heasinked up the model 1727.

I have a few fans, including a small GPU die fan from an old agp 5200 which appears to be functional, its possible in the right place, that could do some good.

Lucky you ! there's none available at the mo , you bought all of em ? :p

Good point , That's my main concern too , need to get some good grade thermal adhesive pads. Heard bad things about the one that came with the Zalman's , that they kept faling apart ..

Also as stated by Alex , we ain't got much space in for taller ones ..
The one i got is 14(L)x14(W)x8(H). We need at least a 5-6mm for the GPU(on top of the actual heatsink) area and lower for CPU ...

I think my initial plan is good , cutting down the vram sides of the heatsink and stick those on , which will makes cooling more efficient than having crappy pads or thermal paste in-between the 1mm gap.

And some low profiles one along the pipes .. The most difficult part is getting the right equipment as the MSI is too slim.

Stick all on the bottom lid ? That's not a bad idea but avoid using it on your lap :D

Well its a metal fan for die, i could put it on one of the components, cpu or nb, the gpu'd burn up im sure.

    It'd need re-wiring too,

Position the fan to the components that's hotter. Wiring those would be a pain

wiring isnt the problem cat, i can easily show you how to get upwards of 5v from your machine with little or no soldering, and you wont lose a usb port, due to a nice little card ive seen on ebay, its an adapter card for a mini pci-e that lets you solder things onto to add functionality, ie sata, or cf drives, and the best part is it shows you where the leads are on the card, so even if you murphy it up its only $3 down the drain, as opposed to g'bye compooter.

all we really need is a super slim fan that just pushes a little air, if i could get one of those and drop it on top of the gpu, then i'd be set for cooling, itd be beautiful and super cool.

Perhaps you could strip a small fan out of an old HDD external enclosure. They often had pretty damn small, thin 30mm fans, at least in older models.

Hmm that does sound like a good option actually,

I have 4 fans, 3 which run on a usb and 1 gpu fan, although they are not tiny, they are small,

On a side note i have the wiimote working with bluetooth but not in games,

Does our CIR port even work?

That adapter would be fairly handy for the mini pci port, i know one of the ports under the main heat pipes are free.

Will poke around for some other fans, i also have some more 5200 fx with DIE heat sinks, they'd go nicely in our machine too, so i'l probably strip them off at one point.

CIR not so useless after all :D You can even use the wii joystick whatever it's called .. i remember someone post a screenie of it.

How you gonna deal with fan vibrations ?

EDIT: Did you get the qimonda ?

The numchuck? i've the numchuck working, can't get CIR working,

I think no fan vibrations, its a very steady fan, quiet as chips too

I can remove the fan from the actual metal casing too i believe, to make it even smaller,

+, - and RPM sensor wires.

Naa haven't got the qimonda yet, need to find out timings, you think 2gb 6400 is good for £20? 1 year warrenty on it too,

Aye, his temperatures are actual fantastic for the GPU, dont ya think? :p

Possible screen problems, could the inverter or anything cause anything like this?

Its just ripped from a 5200fx dead, i think it keeps the temps good, but it should be built to tolerate quite a fair amount of heat.

I have three other USB powered fans which are plain plastic at around that size, but they aren't closed bottom (Also i can't put the metal directly on mobo haha.)

Should be quite a fun project when i get some more cash in :), qimonda chips are quite good i think so for the OC madness i'd probably use them,

Whats the risk of damaging the mobo for ocing, is it high or what?

EDIT: Just seen some interesting quotes,

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OMG i got 25 % INCREASE FROM SWITCHING 10.3 REGULAR DRIVER TO ENZYME 1.3 BETA MODIFIED FOR CATALYST 10.3 ON 4330 HD, THING FLIES

Msi Afterburner Open Msi Folder Then Use Notepad To Change The Value Of Unnoficial Overclocking From 0 To 1

Wonder if the drivers would impact the 4850, and if the quote would allow beyond CCC ocing, the afterburners a fairly efficient tool.

Yeah they are quite good indeed and he ain't using a cooler.

Memory is the most vulnerable than other components. Kinda rare to fry a mobo when Ocing. Mine should have been dead by now :D

Qimonda are good , got some Elpida chip on my Kingston.

Fun project indeed , i'm waiting for my other bath of vramsink to start mine :p

How you gonna place it on your mobo ? It's metal , be careful.

I'd have to thermal pad it or...possible heat proof baking paper? lol...

The thing is, we can replace pretty much everything, but the mobo'd be too hard to replace i'd say lol..

I never really had a problem with this. I more or less had a problem with internet stability. Like random lagging for no reason, had one issue with it since I applied these, but significantly less reoccurring than previously.

As long as it shows the right driver num (8.71**) you don't need to worry.

@ Mr Cata , couple of frames here and there , I might give it a go tonight .. And post screenie here.
Yeah I saw that , pretty kool eh ! Non extreme "can" be oc'd after all .. Hope someone test it out :p

On a side note, I have had these problems after I have refreshed my computer from being asleep or hibernated. It is almost always fixed by restarting my computer. It is just really annoying that I have to restart my computer solely because of internet issues. Maybe that part of the problem can help us solve it. I had an issue earlier with download speed, I was getting 6 mbps out of my 33, restarted, and was back to normal. It is weird that it just doesnt function like a fresh restart after hibernate and sleep.

Interesting, well its not being detected for any of the wii tools,

And i have a standard universal 360 remote here with media center functions on it, maybe it can be tuned to pc, I assume your CIR is working fine then auto? any specific remotes/accessories you have for it?

Interesting mark, there is also on vista a problem in which the wifi card actively scans often so that could also have effects too? my friend would get spikes every 10 seconds in games because of it.

not sure about the deal with vista, thats one operating system i avoided as much as possible, xp did me well for the longest time, but that sounds like a problem that might be solved through some wifi card tweaking.

    Hi.

Good to see one that swapped out the screen also.

Im planning to change my LCD panel as well to WUXGA.

Are the performances noticeably different when running games in WSXGA+ and WUXGA?

I was wondering how much it stresses the GPU.

Is this normal you reckon? Should i be worrying? I'm already using a laptop cooler.

Well it turns out i am in a very impulsive mood tonight and decided to buy a q9200 from laptopmonkey instead of a HDD lol.. go me

Will this require a different bios (currently running 1.0s), I know it needs the barebones bios to overclock, but for now I just want to know if it will run on standard.

Re-pasting it might drop down the temps ;) What cooler you using ?

It's just the motherboard model , the 725 uses the same. Here's mine:

So, I have an issue after our laptop comes on after sleep/hibernate. My internet will be 50 ms on every game/program and then randomly keep spiking and become really unstable until it gets to 2000+. If I restart, everything is fixed and the process eventually starts over again.
