No prob man , that's the good thing about our lappie , it has a 2 part heatsink .. You don't need to take all off just to paste Just the CPU

But better do all at once as save you the hassle for later , just on the gpu die. Be careful not to damage the pads when removing the GPU heatsink.

so im getting really starting to wonder if my processor is really gonna be enough to cut it. I seem to be pushing the power envelope pretty hard on my computer, this alienware card is pulling apparently 50-65 watts, and my quaddie is pulling most of the rest. the strange thing is the difference between the q9000 and the t9400 is only 10w and apparently thats enough to cause power issues, mainly only when gaming, if i come unplugged my machine dies. I guess the batteries can't support that much load.

I just finished the singleplayer campaign in bad company 2 and there seems to be an issue with the fludity of rendering, itll render smoothly, but the framerate is nowhere near consistent, as in itll speed up then slow down, its almost like the borderlands effect when you warp in. Im starting to wonder if this card just sucks too much juice.

Before i add another issue to my list, has anyone else gotten issues similar to that? im using the whql 10.3 drivers and its a clean install.

if its a processor issue, im tempted to just sell the machine and jump into a gx740 since the processor prices for a q9200 are about the same as a good i5/i7 processor...

Yeah those thing are kinda rare , even if you managed to get one , price will be quite excessive ..

 

I'm gonna look into the whole overclocking thing, however i'm kinda worried about how thats gonna affect the cooling of my already scorching graphics card.

 

Should be fine if you use a cooler or drill the crap out of the bottom lid

@cena , I tried readyboost on a 16gb SDcard and my system became unusable , very very slow ... an express card might work but we don't really need it as it won't be any faster as it already is.

 

Have someone an idea here how to solve without modification the gpu overheating problem?
I used cpu genie to undervolt the cpu and is fine from 2Ghz trough 1.6Ghz
anytime working with 1.050 V which is the lowest set on laptop bios (i think i have 1.0U), somehow i can get lower but ok. I played 1 hour Tomb Raider Legend at max graphics and get overheating errors from gpu.
yesterday i played with one external fan an noticed that even with stress the cpu not going over 70 degree C but the gpu after 5 minutes of Furmark reach 80 C.(playing with fan means i keeped close to the hot air outcome to help the hot air leave my laptop at the gpu cooler site, and keeping at 80 or a bit lower is ok for the lappy)I have an external laptop coole from cooler master but doing nothing at all, the air is blowed under laptop but is far away to be enough to cool down the two major heating unit. Just my hdd get cooler with 1 degree. Blowing directly in the hole under the inside fan giving 2-5 degree cooler on cpu side but not doing anything on gpu side.
I want to solve this if someone has an idea. Everything is stock in my MSI GT725Q.

i read somewhere ower the internet that if u want to try to make your laptop faster than u can use a flash or anytype of memory card. They usualy becomes dead faster but u can do it. Use anytype means usb, mini pcie or express card slot connection even esata. Format it and use for swap, and use just this driver for it and ur system will speed up a bit. Depends on the write and read speed of it. It wont double ur speed but it can be measurable.

Try to find the article. its written for usb flash under xp.

i'm gonna say this flat out, readyboost is a waste of time, theres no real measurable gains in speed youre gonna get, its designed to serve and a solution for machines that dont possess enough memory to run efficiently with larger programs, mainly for older machines that have been forces to burden a new os and demanding programs.

if you plan on using a ssd card or a flash drive, any cheapo one will work, however, with read/write speeds of cheap flashdrives being maybe 1.6mbps thats insanely slow compared to system memory and the bus it runs on...

yes you can get faster flash drives or ssd cards for expresscard slots, but for omething with decent speed you'll pay the price you would for that memory upgrade or a faster hard drive.

turboboost has taught us that that idea is a failure, simply because you have to use the same program that really only loads the same things once, games will see no benefit, but maybe some in something like photoshop, and for the cost of a decent readyboost solution you dont gain true performance but something unattainable during normal usage.

the only thing that those cards are good for is if you are in desperate need of storage space, and even then a bigger hard drive will give you much better read/write and storage space for a lower cost.

its a nice idea and i'm still tempted to play with those ideas, but their cost is an unneccesary waste of money.

as for the program using up the drives, yes that is a side effect also, flash drives are rated at a certain amount of times they can be written to and erased, as such they were never meant to be used as an alternative to ram, mainly because they are a different type of memory technology meant for long term storage. This partially why defragmenting a SSD is a terrible and destructive idea, you're basically killing your drive.

As for the RAM in your computer, that type is called volatile memory and is designed with nand technology allowing it to write and rewire multiple times and withstand incredible amounts of wear.

It's crap , go for the Hitachi 7k500 , it's faster.

Yep , barebone and setfsb. I went back to the GT725 bios though as like i said before , overcloking is not really needed for that chip

MX-3 and ICD have both been said to run cooler, and safer .

 

just bought myself some of that 24 carat diamond paste, and some zalman ramsinks, im determined to drop the temp of this machine. This will keep me entertained till i can get my hands on a gx740. Maybe I'll use my tax return for that.

you can get 48s on the forum, i know theres a couple of them that didnt sell yet, as for the card, getting them is the easy part, now you have to get yourself a heatsink for the bugger... I havent had any luck. Though i've pretty much given up, i sold my advent 7555 the other day with the 9600mGT, so i have an ati hd4850 512 from msi, lemme know if youre interested, idk what im gonna do with it just yet.

As for making one, yes i "could" but i dont have anywhere near the right tools or the time to carefully construct one, i'd have to buy everything since, and iraq is hardly the place to be trying to make things like that, I don't really have enough time. On top of that, that my advent has been sold to my boss so now i get to decide if i wanna sell this card or get something different.

Im halfway tempted to get an alienware and grab a slave card from the marketpace for $400, buut taking mobility into consideration i think im just gonna grab myself a gx740...

Alienwares are just too bulky to comfortably carry when you travel. Now that I think about it, I kinda wish that MSI would make different colors for their laptops, silver and black was really stylish, and a nice change from red/black...

However my laptop does looks significantly sexier with the ati & intel core2 quad stickers on it = )

as for the 4850 i have, anyone wants it, send me a pm. I think its time to get rid of it, the things pretty much brand new, i just wished i couldve gotten some use out of it.

At this point, God knows, 4850 seems like a fairly stable card, sinceyou have an official MSI machine, how about reinstalling the vbios too? Or maybe you still have warrenty??
