Your allowed to upgrade your CPU, the coverage on it will be lost but the rest of the components will be ok normally?

Hmm try lowering your clocks with overdrive, that is the display recovery thing kicking in, i think it actually can be disabled,

Think possibly it has something to do with hardware acceleration?

Either way i'm screwed , got an ES chip remember ? can't ship it with that inside :D Need to transfer the one from my dell into it ... anyway , i'm not that worried about it , pretty sure it's nothing major

Played Episodes from Liberty for like an hour , no error (fresh install and no OC) . Gonna play some more tomorrow. If it dies you can have my bottom cover & CPU :p

Ahh dam, forgot about it being an ES, hmm ebay has p7350s for 35 quid doesn't it? that'd suffice??

Dude it'd be a damn shame if its broken :/ and it wouldn't make any sense either??

Dam it actually goes for 50 quid :p

Can I just ask, you guys seem to have your GT725 upgraded with a QX9200 processor, is it alot better than Q9000? Is it hard to fit it in? (Also where do you get them???)

What's the temp like compare to Q9000?

Thats where I got mine http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INTEL-CORE-QU...97QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCPUs?hash=item2559b21fb1

Yes I think it's better than the q9000.. spec wise anyway, and the multipliers are unlocked so it is better for overclocking. I have noticed the difference in day to day usage as the computer feels alot more snappy, whereas before it would sometimes hang a bit (which I think is to do with the lower clock speed of the q9000).

Installing it was pretty easy, although it is very fiddley and apply thermal paste is always a hassle.

At the moment, the temps are higher than the q9000 (current temps are idle: 45-50C, 70-100% cpu usage: 70-85C), but this is either because the thermal paste (I used Artic Silver 5) takes about 200 hours before it becomes effective, or I messed up when I pasted it. I am gona give it a couple more weeks and if the temps don't go down, I will re-paste it.

    Hope that helps

    Blazin

Temps seem fine, but sshould get better after the curing time too,

I'm waiting for their reply and we'll carry on from there .. Hmm It seems like going from a Q9000 to a Q9200 is worth it after all. If you don't wanna keep ur Q9000 , try getting in touch with Lee to see if he can come up with a trade or something ;)

Nice car Lambo! I gives you 5 of my finest british pounds for it? Yes? I thought so :D

Also, I think there should be a 56k warning on this page, you just killed my internet trying to load these pics.

I can't push the q9200 past 2908mhz without bluescreening, which is definitely the ram's fault as it will boot into safe mode with the cpu at 2.9. Anyone recommend some ram that can take being OCed to 1000mhz + ?

Here is my latest 3DMark06 run with cpu at 2.8Ghz, 4850 OCed to 535/885 (it wouldnt go any higher without 3DMark throwing up direct3D errors):

Its yours Blazin, I was thinking of selling for 4 fine pounds, but since you offer such a considerable amount...

Cheers cat, the trend at the moment is definately the stock look, personally I've always prefferred that look though, so thats the way it'll stay.

However, they did come out with optional side skirts, nothing too out there, they just run a nice line down the side of the car, so I might look into sourcing them.

Thanks for the kind words guys, see you all when I have another problem in a years time :p

EDIT: Just to keep me up to date, currently what 3m mark 06 and Vantage scores are you guys pulling?

Also, I'm still running on the 9.12 drivers, are the new ATI drivers these days mobility modder free?

Awesome! When can I have it? Oh and could you put the side skirts on for me please (at no extra cost? Yes?) Thanks Lambo!

Also I am getting 3DMark06 scores around 11,300 ish

And I recommend you get the 10.3 drivers, no modding required

I got my batch from newegg, and i have been using it rock stable solid from the first day, able to go from ddr800 to 1000+ with a cool stable overclock.

impressive for any ram labled as valueram. Here's the linkage
Apparently there was an issue with another member using this ram in a t9900. The issue was never solved as the user switched to a different brand of ram.

Though for your machine being at the speed its at, if you can use setfsb and bring the ram up to ddr1000 or 1066 and try and run it in a 1:1 ratio with fsb, you'll prolly get the best performance for your machine.

    As for scorewise,

I hit an even 6000 Marks yesterday in Vantage... Still confused why my scores so much lower, though my 4850 is clocked lower...

I just got my Diamond thermal paste, zalman ramsinks, and a sleek black 80mm fan grill so im gonna mod the hell outa this bottom plate. Maybe then i'll start pushing this badboy, while I'm waiting to get a gx740.

I've glued 2 of those on my heatsink and it gets quite hot , even when browsing.

My temps are same though , right now it's 35c (browsing for 45mins)

EDITTTTT : Do any of you guys using the RC for flash player ? (10.1 with video acceleration)

    rc?

as for temps and stuff, I'll be taking pictures and documenting my results. I'm fairly curious myself to see how this works, time to break out the dremel.

As for the sale, i'm not sure, I sent him a message but I guess its the same deal, they're wanting a heatsink also. I'll wait a bit for an answer and then i'll throw it on NBR, and the usual channel ebay for a last resort.

I posted this elsewhere, but this might be the better place.

I'm looking to buy the new GX740, and was wondering if that has the same screen as the GT720 (for the 1680x1050 variant) and if so if one could comment on it.

In particular, I'd like to know how evenly lit it is across the screen and how good the whites + blacks come through (contrast).

    Thanks!

I'll post the car today, its 1:100000000 scale so it'll fit nicely in an envelope :p.

Those 3d mark scores are good, I remember back in the day when I was posting here we were only around 10500 I think. That being said though, I see death still hates me for some reason unknown to myself, and surprisingly lenarasssssssss hasn't returned.

Downloading drivers now, see you'ze all later!

and yes i know.. reinstall drivers.. but i would prefer a fix that doesnt require booting into safe mode to run driver sweeper. (effort FTL)

I knw this isnt directly related to the current discussion but I hv a serious problem.
I was just reading a few pages back and I read about some heat issues and atikmpag.sys etc.

So, my problem is that I just get artifacts, the screen gets pixelated and I get all kinds of green, red, etc small boxes and even sometimes GSOD(Grey Screen Of Death).
I end up with a crash saying atikmpag.sys is responsible.
This only occurs when I start a game, immediately on start up before reaching the menu, I end up with this!!

I read elsewhere and I suppose this is common, but I cant find a solution that works for me.

The HD 4850 is not overclocked bt rather underclocked 470/800, bt still on start-up I hv temps around 55*C.

    Thanks :)

Hmm silicon, this is indeed very strange, you need to try furmark, in the lowest res in windowed mode, this should also provide a temperature graph and you can cancel the test at any time,

Im currently quite busy but in a few hours i will gladly walk you through some easy diagnostics tips.

I would do a quick play test in Futuremark first.

If that's ok, I would rule out a hardware issue. Have you tried running the game at Native rez, or cranking down a to medium quality.

I find this game can get pretty heavy on my GT725 210UK.
