with a quadcore and my angry 4850 I get about 90min with my 9 Cell, under midrange load, upwards of 2 hours under low load to idle.

The problem with quoting battery life is that unless the machines have the same configuration and are doing the same exact thing you can never get an accurate measure of how long the battery will last, the only definite is how long it'll last under full load.

Just got my lappy back from RMA. Guess what?
They just did a system restore and said that it is working fine, I did a little examination at the MSi Center and it actually was working :)

The Bad thing is that they suspect and me too that this was a software error and I am skeptical about updating my drivers to 10.4 from stock(8.56).
Are the new ones safe? Did anybody had problems with 10.3?

Its big and ugly and lasts for about 1:20 Minutes on full Performance Settings. (I find battery life on laptops like ours to be pointless but good luck.)

PS: I have the 9 Cell and just ordered the Flush 6 Cell (yes I am a fashion victim and want a flush battery) but at least that damn cable wont snag anymore.

Never would have thought would you ? We all had our money on a dead GPU :p Glad it's working again ;)

Do like me , everytime before i update dome important drivers or about oc , I create a system image ...

That's where the MSI partitioning comes in handy .. Takes like 10mins to back the entire C drive.

Now I end up getting BSOD with infinite loop error.

Using 10.4 and they feel nice and stable overall, best be on the safe side and use the certified completed drivers.

I'm actually enjoying my 10.5 drivers thank you, haven't played with 10.6 yet, that will comel later.

As for the graphics issue man, the damn card is fried, and apparently you are getting people who just do a general diagnostic and throw it back to you, they should check out the issues that say it has.

With their support is there anywhere you can actually meet the rep thats working on your machine or is it just mail in? I'd say to document exactly what you do to get the problem, send em what they need to reproduce it, with detailed instructions I might add, and send em gpu stressing tool to 1up it.

One thing you might wanna look into also is if MSI has a "no lemon" guarantee in their warranty. That may be helpful.

But if you wanna start from the ground up, grab the most recent MSI Certified drivers, run drivercleaner and then throw those drivers on and see if the problem shows up. If not then it may be an issue with Dx, or maybe that alpha drivers with dx11 don't support vista.

That is exactly the reason, I myself never attempted a recovery coz I was very well convinced by you all that it was a hardware defect.
But as you say and I hv read elsewhere these idiots mostly re-image your system and mystically it works at their center and when it gets back to your house, its again broke :(

As far is the rep is concerned, I can mail them, call them and even meet them in person. So that is not the issue, the issue is that they live under a Rock!! and dont hv and idea about gfx card issues.(I felt I could have done a better job than them with their resources and infrastructure at their centre)

As far is GPU stressing is concerned, they use movies to stress the GPU(For God's Sake this is a gaming machine nt a netbook.) That too of a lesser than the DVD res.

I could nt hv expected much, since their are only 10-15 pieces of GT 725 sold in my country, so they dont get too many to practice their "repair" skills.

Good News : My lappy is finally working and stable.
    Bad News : 1. I am not getting a new card :p
    2. You ppl are going to think I am a retard.

The cause is that earlier when I had updated my drivers from stock 8.56 to 9.12(modded) I had never uninstalled the previous drivers and of course did not use driver cleaner/sweeper, etc.
The second time I updated my drivers from 9.12 to 10.3 again without uninstalling the previous ones.
So I guess it was driver conflict.

This time I uninstalled the stock drivers, ran driver sweeper and installed 10.4.

    And Its working :)

Wonders why jack wants my card dead so badly?

Silicon I don't recall saying that I wanted your card, 0.o

Its just the issues you were describing reek of ram or gpu failure, I've seen it countless times before so I was almost 100% sure. If it works man, and you can play games thats great, I'd say once you get it stable under stock drivers or a Clean install, get a program that stresses video cards and your card off a bit, if it still works then you're good to go.

Your goal inside of your warranty period is to make your laptop as angry as possible so you know it'll last when the warranty goes out.

Either way if its working thats good.

You can run OCCT , it will stress test the crap out of it .. And will stop automatically if there's a failure. I prefer it than Fur.

He wants it dead so that you'll be forced to buy his spare cards :p Kidding !

:D yeah it doesn't but it's a very good tool to stress test your GPU if you overclock etc. Keep it .. Who knows it might come in handy.

I ran it for like an hour and my temps were 98-99 or something :p

Guys, just want to say that the sound has gone from good to phenominal for a laptop sound system,

Even people around me have noticed the change, it must have taken the speakers a while to break in but their really good,

Very crisp highs, and very well covered mid tones, with bass frequencies covered but not thumpy (The frequencies are there i think.)

    Video coming soon of:

    1) Fan States
    2) Audio
    3) Any other things deemed neeccesary :D

Yes, details please! Are you using WinAmp? Any sound field? How do you overcome the tinny sound? Bass is fairly ok, but I can't get the highs right. (and yes I know that since I've hit the half century mark, my hearing isn't what it used to be, still...)

I don't really like the idea of surround headphones much; you're paying 1/6 as much per speaker as you would from normal headphones at the same price, so lower quality often results (though not always). Plus, a lot of surround headphones come from gaming-oriented companies rather than ones dedicated to quality sound.

Surround headphones can't simulate interaural time differences with hardware alone, so they're no better than normal headphones for determining whether a sound is coming from the left or the right, which is the most critical aspect of directional sound. They have advantages in front/back/up/down perception, but I don't think it's worth the tradeoff.

I know the price can be quite excessive but some been saying it's awesome , better than the norm.

But wanna hear by myself , if not satisfied I can always return it .. Not much of an issue there.

I get fed up of any headphones after a while, i just have to feel the frequencies thump me about,

So i often tend to use my machines speakers instead of headphones now that they're quite mature :)

Other then that, a nice 5.1 surround set is the way to go, now thats freeky cool.

Cleaned the vents and fan with an electric air pump for air sofa's and beds today with a directed end piece,

Dropped 5-7C accross the board with stock past and pads,

Playing 2 eve online clients max detail at :

    63c Northbridge
    56-57C CPU
    68-GPU,

    Happy happy happy.

Nothing fancy myself. Currently use wireless Sennheiser HDR 140. Dunno if surrounds would make much difference. I'm kinda old school, missing the sound you got from tubes rather than this digital stuff (says the guy whose fav music is from the 80's.)

Never been a big fan of razer , Logitech is top of gaming gear list :p
I'm using a skullcandy headphone , sound is great but it's not comfortable at all .. If I do buy I'll let you know about the surround sound :p

I just read some reviews about Razer and now its off my list too. Its not properly isolated, like noise cancelling is not there and ppl can hear what you're listening and you have to listen to their crap.
Good thing is G35 are perfectly isolated. Shopping time :)

Logitech does good software too ;) I will have to put mine on hold as I'm about to replace my GPU. Brand new at £273.77 (out of warranty) ...

Fitted , tested , free shipping and all the BS included
