I will see about the realtek drivers, also try unplug your digital and other audio eq and check your pannel,
Ive used both hdmi and vga extensively, any problems your having with hdmi will be monitor or tv, tv especially, took me forever to get setup to turn my hdtv into my main viewing platform, now its as clear and crisp as a monitor, also could be cable quality.
-
This HDMI problem is there with me too, true the pic quality doesnt look great, but also for me when I choose 1920x1080 res the damned thing never fills up to the corner, I mean it still shrinks as if I had choosen a lower res.
The cable is a Logitech 1.3HDMI with some gold-plated connectors or something. -
To fix the shrinking go to CCC > Desktops and Displays > Right Click the icon for the TV/Monitor on the Bottom > Click Configure > Scaling > and set 0% overscan.
-
Yeah you dont want overscan on as it distorts and outscales, then you need to fit it to your screen with your screen options itself (My tv has a native mode for it.)
-
Now there is a good thing, the CCC is there in start-up menu, also it is in drop down menu when I righ click on desktop, but regardless of my mouse clicks the damn thing never opens.
-
Hmm lost a rubber foot from my machine, so annoying, anyone know where to get these from?
-
I had this issue with some drivers back in W7 RC. Uninstall everything using ATI's uninstall program (In any driver pack - run setup, then choose uninstall). Then reinstall with mobility 10.6
-
Hey I know it may be old question, but I wanted to cut out on heat without underclocking. So whats the right voltage if I wanted to undervolt without underclocking?
-
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
Thats the thing, there is no "right" voltage, each processor has different sensitivities to power, just like it has to temperatures or oc'ing potential. There is an undervolting guide that will point you in the right direction. Just slowly take it down a notch and see what it does in terms of stability, this alone will give you a significant drop in power consumption and heat, its a great program. Just follow the instructions and you're golden. -
Hello, I have just experienced a problem with my MSI GT725-212US. When I plug in my ipod headphones into the audio jack my right headphone is very fuzzy and I can't hear the music at all. Same thing is happening with my astro A40's but when I plug my headphones back into my ipod they work fine. Any one have any idea how I can fix this problem?
-
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
Sounds like your audio jack is going out, no pun intended, check out one of the other jacks and see if you can replicate the problem, if the jack is going bad, you will either have to abandon it and use a different jack or you will have to disassemble the laptop and either replace the jack or push the metal contacts back into the center of the jack.
I have had similar audio issues with a previous laptop, if you wiggle the jack when its pugged in does it make a difference?
How is overall sound coming from your computer? Drivers may be an issue, you can use driversweeper to remove your current driver and replace it with a fresh install, hopefully this will solve your problem or you'll have to resort to the above tests.
Let me know what happens. I'll try and help you out depending on what the problem is. -
Yeah, that jack isn't working correctly. I am now using a different one and everything is working fine now.
-
I have a 15% wear on our 9 cell, is that bad? Had it over a year. Also did any of you get ThrottleStop to work on our 275-74? I am having difficulties
-

The batteries in our laptops, in any laptop for that matter, have a lifespan of about 1.5-2 years before they are close to useless. Lithium ion batteries are fine for the first few months typically but eventually start to lose their ability to maintain full capacity and start to wear down gradually, as they age more that effect increases exponentially until the battery is completely gone.
It sounds about right for your battery to be there, mine is in a similar state, however I have a few different batteries so i'm able to cycle them out some.
The main thing that I can say if you want to preserve your battery as much as possible, is to leave it disconnected from your machine, but at least every month do a full discharge/and charge cycle. That way it'll stay in pristine shape. Hope that helps you out a bit. -
So what are we proposed to do when it goes out? Also could we use a 12 cell?
-
Buy another one
and there are 12 cells?
-
-
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
Unfortunately there are no 12 cell batteries for this laptop, only 6 and 9, So your choices are limited, I find that 9 cells are nice for extra batterylife if you don't tweak your laptop too much, with my upgrades, i have about 1hr batterylife on a 9 cell. Though if you plan on using hdmi out, things can get worrysome with the power cord being cocked at weird angles, and makes me pretty nervous about breaking the dc jack.
Optimally with a 9 cell you should get about maybe an 1:30 or so on decent load with a dualcore and the stock ati card. Since I am using an ES spec processor and a powerhungry 4850 which uses an extra 10w+ than the msi 4850, I have a slightly higher bill to fit.
Uh mark, you might have a bit of a problem getting that to work in an Msi... -
It was just a reference of a 12 cell battery. I use my laptop for college, and USED to get 3 hour and like 10-15 minute on power saving mode. Now I get 2:45 would sucks, and I was also going to use the undervolting guide to gain more minutes, has anyone done that for ours yet?
-
mass gpu undervolt, take a stick of ram out? lolol
-
Check out this video on how to replace the cells (batteries) in your battery Laptop Battery Hack! Don't Buy A New One! - Video
-
Be very careful though, one mistake and that thing could blow
Lifted my laptop up and it completely froze, i've heard of this happening on 1651 models but not 1722, a pressure point which disables the laptop :S lol?
Safety mechanism or HDD maybe pushed with too much force. -
Haha, the reason why people can charge 100$ is because most people cant do that stuff.
-
Hah, guys someone found the realtek audio pannel entries supposedly so if you wan't i could attempt to upload my Audio EQ which defines the sound a bit better and allows the lower frequencies to shine more.
-
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
but is that for the speakers on the laptop or when you are using external ones?
-
Dunno about the safety mech, but mine just BSOD
Was moving it to a different room, unplugged it picked it up and wham! Everything seems ok, but the system never generated a dump log.

need to learn to extract registries now damit, its not allowing imports
-
Don't know your level of expertise, but if you're comfortable working with the regisrty, check out the info on this site: Batch File Scripting: How to export, find and replace, and reimport a registry key (XP, Win2k3, Vista, Windows 7) | Batch file programming | Tech-Recipes

Hey Cat, I have the 075 version running Vista x64. I tried the OC steps, but seem to have run into a dead end. I'm running the 1.0s bios version and as you stated that I didn't need to update since it was similar I just skipped over to the EC. However, I downloaded the EC firmware to flash, but it's giving me an error, "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your system's information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks. -
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
You're not trying to flash from in windows right? All this has to be done, booted from DOS.
-
Ohhhh ok. Thanks for the help. Will update on the progress.
-
When you run Setfsb for the first time and increase the values, you should click Set FSB and run the WPrime test right? And are the values for the Current FSB and Select FSb lines supposed to change? Mine were at the default 266, but when I clicked Set FSb they jumped to 707
-
Hmm careful if that happens, try the entry again, you can also manually modify the values on the gt725 i think even without the bios change now, do little increments if you can and prime test it, although your probably better using a higher stressing benchmark,
Prime95 perhaps. -
I've been trying to get it to work and no luck so far. I increase the numbers for the FSB and RAM, but when I click "Set FSB" there is no MHz change with the processor and the numbers jump to over 700...do you think a bios flash would help? I only flashed the EC.
-
I GOT IT!!!
I flashed the bios with the one in your sig Cat and that did the trick. So question now. After I reach the limit I can go ahead and re-flash the original bios and EC firmware right? And will the new core speed remain the same? Guess it was 2.

The frequency will reset.
-
Noooooo! So I'm guessing everyone who's overclocked has left the flashed versions to keep the frequency?
-
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
What you can do is take a screenshot of the PLL registers with the barebones BIOS, then flash back to your original BIOS and change the registers manually and then overclock.
-
I don't really understand the use of setFSB (Of course unless you OC beyond 24%) when MSI bios gives you a 24% OC option and with the help of things like RMClock you can undervolt simultaneously so as to have low heat.
-
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
with setfsb you can make a batch file and have it load on startup without you having to press a button and also without AC power.
-
I tried to use SetFSB with my original bios, but it wasn't working. I used the bios in Cat's guide and it worked with that.
-
How would I go about creating the batch file?
-
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
Here is the code I used for my old toshiba notebook:
I guess you would change it to something like:Code:@echo off set incr=5 set FSB=240 set PLL=ICS9LPR501SGLF c:\setfsb\setfsb -w0 -s%FSB% -i%incr% -cg[%PLL%]
and put the setfsb folder in C:.Code:@echo off set incr=5 set FSB=308 set PLL=ICS9LPRS113AKLF c:\setfsb\setfsb -w0 -s%FSB% -i%incr% -cg[%PLL%]

mmm batch files, those little things can be so useful or so notorious depending on what you have them do.
-
I downloaded some softwares said to be linked with SET FSB, AutoTool. Said to keep the OC values even after restart. Going to see if it works.
-
I can't get RMClock to run with Vista x64. I read that it's not compatible
-
X64 drivers for RMClock
Its a zip file, unzip and copy all contents to the folder where RMClock is installed.
Cheers
-
 Thanks for that!!! Used RMClock in the past and made my laptop run about 15 degrees cooler. Thanks for the help!
-
Just curious if you've made any progress...
-
How do you use RMClock?
