This is using an ethernet cable.

Out of the box, uninstalled Norton, not had working internet at all with this laptop. Ever since I booted it up it's had the Local Access Only.

Am I missing the Windows CD or is it standard to not get one?

I have tried everything, most people recommend restoring to an earlier point but seeing as this has persisted from the first boot up that didn't work either.

Was going to format and reinstall but I have no OS CD's lying around.

In some case you will have to create your own backup CD's, as for the local area only im not sure, but if it was wireless and you were on wep or whatever, you would have to manually enter the whole key. (Atleast i did hehe)

Prolly going to end up making an .ISO on a dvd and install the new Windows 7 RC. Have tried everything.

Thanks alot Tester, knowing that everything works with Windows 7 is a huge relief as I will probably go ahead and update.

I just recieved my GT725-074US yesterday. As for the OS CD's, you don't get them... just two blank CD's to burn as recovery discs. Microsoft doesn't want people to have OEM CD's for some reason. Wireless LAN worked right off the bat after turning on the wireless by pressing the button on top.

Anyway, Out of the box with stock drives I got 9.2k w/o turbo and 9.7k with turbo in 3dmark06. I'm trying to decide which drivers to go to now, since I value stability over a couple hundred 3dmarks. Are the drivers on MSI's website newer than those that ship with the computer? Will I have any downside using 9.4 installed by Tester's method?

By the way, there is definitely screen bleed on mine, but I only notice on a black screen.

Did you create your recovery disk? Msi gave 2 free black msi blank disks for a purpose of that. If you did not, then reboot. F3 at startup msi recovery//// F8 repair windows and choose recovery. I had a couple of gaming rigs that had intel 5100 wireless card and always would connect. But i dont get internet. It constantly dropped. When it said local and internet, i did not have an internet. What i did, i restored it. Problem solved. Or it maybe different for you. Some people say its their anti virus. But i really dont knoe. Just trying to help you out.

In my wifes vaio sony that has intel 5100 wireless card, im having issues with it also. I restored it last night. Dont have any problems anymore.

I didn't make the recovery disks as the error was there from first boot up. I will try the recovery from boot and see if that fixes things. Even still I may download windows 7 and give that a try.

    Thanks for the help.

You dont reallt need to install 9.4 from official site using testers method, but if you really like you can and it works. But you can just save yourself for some trouble like what happened to mine, you can just download dna 9.4 drivers//ccc. And just uninstall your drivers from add/uninstall program from control panel(express uninstall) then reboot. Then just install DNA 9.4. Then thats it. Look at my sig i have great results from it. You dont even need to use driver cleaner or anything such like that. No errors whatsoever especially driver errors.

Will totally clean out the drivers tho, however when everything was removed it defaulted to vga drivers, and when i tried to install any ATI stuff it just bounced.

    Great work @tester
after the successful installation you can try to back-up the ATI driver as .zip archive and post it to the users using
    this software

no need to buy/register , Driver back-up option is free , and i have test in Win7 RC 64bit and it is working

Totally normal. Lots of people generally report temps of 70C and up while playing games. Anything 60 and under while gaming is great stuff.

After installing 9.4 drivers and tweaking vista, I'm got around 9.9k 3dmark06 with turbo on.

Using CCC to overclock to 550/900 I scored 10503. Not too shabby for no real hardcore tweaks. I'll still probably throttle back for day-to-day use.

And 4809 on PCmark Vantage if anyone cares about or is looking for that benchmark. This is the with the p8600.

    Intel Core2Quad benchmark results.

WIndows 7 64bit is the top

    Vista 32bit is the bottom

Im liking that 64bit is faster (although a tad bit hotter)
however my vista 32 still boots in 25 seconds while windows 7 boots in 35 :) i thought w7 was faster hehe, well i know it utilizes alot more hardware.

    Hola,

I have a couple questions I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. I'm using the GT725-075US model.

    1. When playing Blu-Ray movies using the prepackaged WinDVD8, I can't get the volume to be loud enough. Regardless of messing with the WinDVD8 volume control, or any of the Windows ones. I've tried playing other sources through WinDVD8 and it seems to be only with Blu-Ray movies. I've also tried using headphones without any noticeable difference. Any ideas?

    2. Realtek has newer drivers for the ALC888S on their website. Has anyone tried these, or had any experience using these drivers directly from the manufacture with any success?

I can't find the 9.4 drivers anywhere. MSI obviously won't update drivers as often as ATI do, and on the ATI website the only driver for the Mobility 4850 are for windows 7, where did you get yours from?

    Thanks! :)

    @ Lambo

    here!

    @ all

    Windows 7 x64 with the ATI 9.4er (stock/DNA remix :D) (570/1115)

Well, I had even achieved better results but it's just O.K..
mmmh some few issues I have noticed.
If you 3DMark run with 1280x1024, the screen will be not @ FULL.
The problem is also not solved in the CCC.

Yesterday, another user reported that he can't play Fallout3 in fullscreen. (with Win7 and the ATI/DNA 9.4)
O.K., the problem I solved by a change in the pref.ini from Fallout3, but unfortunately this is not possible for any game.
Who's gaming with 1680x1050 or for FullHD-User 1920x1200 setting, will have no problems!
1280x800 also works perfectly in full screen.

Next, the CCC is only accessible by right clicking

    Hi Kingtron ;)

thX for, I've tried it, but the backup driver is not working.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi!
I post here a little benchmark on my GT725-210UK with q9000:

I play with the object in medium, I find it good playable, I have juste some lag sometimes, even in 1680*1050 maybe a disk access or the video memory that are full

Right problem solved, i uninstalled the vga drivers, restarted and then searched online for driver so it picked up pre 4850 drivers, when that was complete i went to updating the drivers with the manual DNA INF one, then it installed :)

Upon restart im getting an error.

Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Still not catalyst :(

    1. download ATI DNA Driver (9.4) and unpack the files, then start the setup.exe

    2. press "Next" and then the Install-Button

    3. now choose "Custom" and press "Next"

    4. unmarked "ATI Display Driver" (Yellow) and tick the box "Catalyst Control Center" (Red) (on the image the CCC is already installed!), then press next and follow the progress.

    It's done! :)

    old pic!!!

    alternative CCC install:

    1. install the CCC (download and unpack the orig. ATI 9.4 full package (the Link is for an XP x64)
    2. do only unpack it, no install
    3. go to the Folder e.g. ?:\ATI\Support\9-4_xp64_dd_ccc_enu\Driver\CCC and start setup.exe to install the CCC

I'm not sure, think 30days trial was installed.

    You're right!

How much battery time are you guys getting with it?

I can't find any information about the Q9000's overclockability compared to the normal dual core CPUs... searched through ViciousXUSMC's posts but couldn't find much.

    Hi all

I want to get Flight Simulator x. Everything I read on it say's how difficult it is to run smoothly, almost despite the hardware you have.

I have read so much good about the MSI GT275 and its power for gaming, but reviews never mention how it handles FS X. I would therefore appreciate your advice.

    1) Will it run Flight Simulator X definitely smoothly at medium or high setting?

    2) Is it right to buy it now, or is their a newer version coming out in the near future?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    2. There is a newer version coming out that supports ddr3 RAM

no, but you can put an internal TV tuner (i.e. an Avermedia A312) in it. And the Infrared sensor is for RC6 compatible remote controls like Windows MCE certified remotes. They have MCE remotes now that can fit in the expresscard slot.

    hi
received mine two days ago and was wondering what was the best system to go
i tryed xp 64 and wasn't convinced as the copy i had was a modified one...
tryed to install the vista ultimate 64, but after the first reboot it kept giving me the loading screen
so i had to go back to the original viata 32 that came with the laptop.

after running 3d marks 2006 with factory settings i received around 9500 score, using the turbo mode gave me the exact same result !!

Q: do i have to uptade any drivers under vista 32? or can i keep the ones that came with the gt725?
Q: after updating vista 34 to service pack one it is showing 4gb of ram, how to be sure that i am actually using the 4gb?
Q: i need to change my partitions size, i would like to have the c drive at around 100 gb and the d drive at around 250 gb. how can i do this as using the recovery dvds it will always format and give me 34.1 gb for the c drive and 263 for the D?

i am not that concerned to go over 10000 in 3dmarks but any idea why i am having the same score using both 2.4 ghz and 2.86 ghz?

    thanks

Use partition magic to set partition size.

The preinstalled OS on the laptop already has SP1 and it will show 4GB but jus open Task Manager and it will show 3GB only.

Its better to update drivers bt nt necessary.

And please for god sake stop trying buggy win7.

What abt drivers, unstable fps, high temps.

My experience with build 7000 was bad so nvr tried it again, so maybe they fixed my list of errors and bugs.

I think my build is 7100, only CPU temps are about 2C higher buti think thats due to 64 bit (more calcs etc)

    FPS was amazine
I was hitting 7s on some W7 scores which is WOHOO for me :)
MY HDD SUX LOL, so i will definately want to upgrade.

Try another build mate then we can prehaps guide you through it.

Lol seriously, i love vista as is, not giving me problems at all and im on 32bit. I almost broke 10800 with just 16% overclock and 550/900. With 9.4 dna drivers and ccc. And im on p8600 cpu. I will post my new results later on.

And by the way i want to do that also, resiSize my c: and just make it full 320gb. And not have drive D:

So where can i get this partition magic? Thats the onlu way to do it? And is yhere any way to recovrry drive c and d? Cuz when i recover it, it only recovers drive c: so my drive d: still got some aplications. I wanna delete em entirely and not make problems.
