where i can buy inividual parts?
-
Sorry, I've never looked into it myself. You'de have to contact MSI about that.
-
I don't know if you rescued the priest (who was being held hostage outside a building), but there are some ammo boxes near there, that have satchel charges in. Then just plant them under the truck and run.
Awesome game xD -
yea i rescued him lol..but where exactly are the f.. charges.also its not awesome ..i have it..they speak all together omg

Right, guys, is the GX725 = GT725? I've been looking around and all I can see is the GT725, not GX. Are both of the models similar? I know that the 4850 is in the GT725, what about the GX725, is it a 9600m GT or something its equivalent or is it the 4850?
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
GX720 = 1722-ID2 chassis w/ Nvidia 9600M GT
GT725 = 1722-ID2 chassis w/ ATI 4850M
The GT725 effectively replaces the 720.
Both are offered in WSXGA+ and WUXGA+ versions
If you're a serious gamer, go with the GT725. The 4850M is a seriously sweet, sweet card and decimates the 9600M in performance.
-
So there's nothing called the GX725? only a GT725 and GX720 then... I'm seeing loads of vendors promoting GX725 in my country, saying that it's equipped with a 4850, skeptical though because of its cheap price, but if it really houses a 4850, then cool, if I could, I would most definitely have a hands-on test with the laptop.

Does anyone know where to find a dissemble guide for the GT725? I need one to find out the part number of the GT725 vga heatsink.
-
I will have to check mine to see if i can find the part number..
-
yea i want dissamble guide tooo

Hey nacr05, in your signature it says you use vista 64bit on your GT725. Just wondering what display drivers you use. I'm currently struggling to find any that work other than the 9.4 DNA drivers.
lol you need one cause your chasis broke
-
I have the same problem as you, this message keep popping out when i turn on the laptop. But i am scared of installing another driver because when i installed the DNA driver it froze my system several times.
Anyone have a solution? -
i had the same f... problem.i install the moded 9.6 and its working perfect .nothing different from the old 9.1 drivers btw lol
lol isnt broke ..just a little white dot like this ( . ) into the black. but i want it perfect. -
If you're talking about the moniter surround, there'll be plenty of dots within a few weeks. Mine looks like poop atm.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and a total noobie to laptops (my first one). I found this forum while reseaching for ATI mobility drivers. I picked up a MSI GT725-212US last week from newegg for $1599. Needed something to game on when traveling. I am not disappointed. Anyway, I noticed how old the ATI drivers were that came with it. MSI had some newer ones on their site but after installing them I would get an error saying that the "Task Scheduler Engine had stopped working" every time I booted up. For some reason the drivers would cause DEP to shut it down. While searching for alternative ways to get newer drivers I ran across Lambofreak's post with the modded inf files and instructions. Thank you Lambofreak!!!
So I went to ATI's driver page and downloaded the 9.6 display drivers only, unpacked them, followed his instructions and now have new 9.6 drivers.
Got a 3dmk06 of 10,699 with them.

Glad to help a fellow MSI supporter in trouble. What page was that post on? (cant be bothered to look myself)
-
Thats one good 3dmark score too.

Thx on the 3dmk score. It really surprised me. :>) -
I've noticed a considerable improvment with some games, such as Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2. Less noticable with Fallout 3, and ARMA, I'm thinking these are very CPU dependant? Still It's possible the extra 1/2 gig of System RAM could be improving general system performance under Win 7 64bit.
One odd thing I still get is a driver error with MSI CC on shut down. It works fine but I have to force shut down the utility before I can boot out of windows? -
Should be some improvement as a 64-bit os utilizes system ram better than a 32-bit system, plus Win7 is suppose to utilize ram better than Vista.
The only games I have installed right now is TDU and Tiger Woods 2008. In TDU I'm getting 35-45 fps with ingame settings at 1900x1200, x4AA, HD, High textures. In CCC I have AAA set at performance and Mipmap at Quality. Very smooth. TW08 gets 60+ with everything ingame setting maxed (1600 x 1200) and in CCC with AA at use application, AF at x16, AAA and Mipmap at Quality.
That is odd with the MSI CC shutdown error. I didn't change out the CCC, just the drivers. If I'm reading the Information Center Graphics Software right the one I have installed is dated November 12, 2008.

Maybe just peculiar to Win7 x64? -
Yeah I'm pretty certain I'm running the same version. Still I'll double check. Guess like you say it's a Win 7 problem. I don't mind since it all works fine. Maybe it's something to do with CCC. Anyone know how thw MSI CC and CCC work together? I should say I've never got CCC to work with Cat 9.6, unless I'm not following the install properly.

Have you tried using the latest 9.7 betas, and trying Catalyst Mobility Modder and see if that works for you?
Not sure if that'll be suitable for you given that you're on Win7, but it definately works for most cards on Vista64, I used to use it with my Mobility X1800. -
Mobility Modder now supports Win 7, and I've used that to modify the official AMD/ATI Catalyst Radeon Drivers. Havn't tried the 9.7 catalyst BETA, guess it might be worth a shot.
Just wish MSI would update there drivers to 9.6. It's a gaming notebook, so you would expect them to be a bit more on the ball and release at the same time as the official ATI Catalyst. -

I have this weird sound coming from what I think is the HD. From time to time, it will "cough" for a bit. The sound it makes is very similar to the sound of old 1.44 floppy drives. It lasts 1-2 seconds and make a few grinding sounds.
The sound isn't typical to any HD (failing or otherwise) that I've ever heard. I have no idea what else it could be. It's definitely not the CD since I have none in the drive.
Any ideas? -
Please excuse my ignorance but when you mentioned the MSI CC I thought you were referring to the new ATI Catalyst Control Center in the mobility driver package that MSI has put up on their site. What exactly is the MSI CC? Remember -NOOBIE HERE-
-
what do you mean moniter surround ? that aluminium black think around toughtpad? if yes why you have plenty of these dots?
-
Are they wear?? Mine has none so far. I know what you are talking about though..

This post is to help everyone install new display drivers, and will be included in my signature.
I'll update this post each time better drivers are released (not necessarily new ones).
This tutorial is for Catalyst 9.8.
1. Uninstall old drivers and CCC. I do this through device manager, you can use a driver cleaner if you wish.
2. Download the latest drivers from the MSI site. Install everything except the display driver (this will get you the CCC). Vista 64 users, use the setup file in the bin64 directory.
3. Unpack the official drivers from ATI, the default directory is C:\ATI\.
4. Open the folder (unpack directory)\9-7_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF. (For Vista 64 users the W7_INF folder will be called W76A_INF.
5. Vista 32 users, delete and replace with the modded ones, the two .inf files in this folder (CL_85215 & CW_85215). Vista 64 users, you'll be looking for two .inf files called C7_85216 & CH_85216.
6. After rebooting, open Control Panel\Device Manager. Under the Display Adapters, find the graphics card, right-click, then select "update driver software".
7. Click "browse my computer for driver software", then click "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
8. Click "have disk...". Now, Vista 32 users, open the CW_85215, Vista 64 users, open the CH_85216.
9. Select the appropriate graphics card, install, restart, and there you have it, current drivers
!
If this tutorial made no sense, or in the unlikely case that it does make sense, please let me know.

lampo!! where exactly you have dots and why?
-
No mine has no wear around the touchpad as well. If yours has wear ON the touchpad, you can buy a protector from me
Also nacr05, what display drivers are you using with Vista 64? -
I am using the stock drivers, There good enough for what I need. You planning on 64bit?? There is no wear on my touch pad as I have never used it, I use a G9 mouse.. Besides my GT725 will be gone after my AW arrives..
-
NOOO ON the touchpad..omg AROUND it there is an aluminium...there are dots there as you said lambo???????? if yes WHY?
-
I tried the stock drivers but they didn't work cuz they're for 32bit. Yes I'm using 64bit atm, and I just hate disabling driver signing every time I want to turn on my comp.
Yeah I understand what you said, I just took the opportunity to try and sell something
. Mine doesn't have any dots around the touchpad. Try attaching a pic just so we are all clear on what you're talking about.
-
They have to be modded to work with 64 bit. You know anyone who is interested in buying a GT725, mine will be for sale in a few weeks??
-
I might... I told one of my friends who wants to buy a gaming laptop to buy a GT725, so if you would be so kind as to attach some pics and I'll send them to him. What model as well (i.e. GT725-074US or GT725-075US etc.?)
-
why you want to sell it?
-
I will get some pics together, Its the GT725-075US it will come stock, I have the P9500 it came with which is going back in it..
-
why you want to sell it?
-
As you can see I have a m17x ordered and will have no need for it. My wife wants it gone. Thats why I am selling it. It has been great never had a problem with it, comes with a blu-ray combo and 1080p on the LCD. I will put it up in the market place when I sell it.
-
Lambofreak; the other instructions (page 260) said for the vista 32 users to pick the second .inf file CW_81755. Did I select the wrong one? Everything seems to be running great. -
omg ...what did you ordered lol...
i think that the money you will spend not WORTH
you can spend less for a better desktop without having problems overheading when you overclock.. i can use watercooling.etc etc... how much is it btw? -
It cost me $2,700.00 and some change. These run very cool and in some cases are better than desktops, I love laptops better and to me its worth every penny spent..
-
2,700 for a laptop oooh noo
and can you tell me why? did you said to your self...WHY??
you need it for playing games ?? i dont think so coz its 17" and you can spend 200usd for xbox360 and have more fun
you thought that maybe with 500usd you can find a laptop that make your work like that one? -
i want to have lights in my keyboard like alienware.. omgg m17x is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very gooood
-
You're right, sorry I'll change that.
Thanks!!!
-
Ok all good, its changed. Thanks for pointing that out...
-
it depend on what file we will choose.i dont remeber what i chooce
-
i think i choose CW_81755.inf .any different choosing that CL_81755.inf or that CW_81755.inf ?
-
Not to be disrespectul but you're being especially rude with some of your comments. It's his money and he has justified it between him and his wife to spend whatever amount he chose on his new purchase. To sit here and criticize him about spending $2700 on a laptop, yet you spent $1700 on yours when you could have built a desktop with better specs than this MSI laptop for $1000 would be exceptionally hypocritical.
This forum is about the discussion of the MSI GT725 laptop, not about criticizing someone about how much money they spent on something else.
Just a word of caution.
On another note I haven't done any benchmark tests as of yet on my personal machine due to me being on mission here in Iraq quite a bit lately.. But I can say that all the games play really well on this thing
.
I tried Crysis on very high 1920x1080 and it was pretty laggy and I was getting some artifacing. I lowered it down to 1200xXXX resolution on HIGH settings and it played very well.
FC2 has no issues running at 1640 on ultra settings
Grid plays with everything maxed out on 1920x1080
!!
Everyone knows how I fared with Prototype
!
And my Fallout 3 download is at 55%!! LOL! Only about 3-4 days to go!! Anyway I'm going to bed. Good night all, sorry if I sounded rude or anything.
