And you can play games at a much higher res than xbox and ps3![]()
Surprisingly (or not) the ps3 doesn't play all games at 1080p, or even 720p, which means we can enjoy games at a higher resolution(and for those with the 1920x1200 screen, we can just beat them on res even when they do manage to make the ps3 run natively at 1080p!)

and lenarass, here is the wallpaper i use (assuming you have the 1920x1200 screen)

Thats exactly right! I have an X-Box 360, and the only reason I buy games on that is if they haven't come out on PC. The computer just smashes my 360, I'm not sure how it compares with the PS3, I've never used one, but I'm sure the laptop we all know and love will dominate ANY console.

Just got 10492 on 3dmarkO6 on my advent 6555
No OC
catalyst 9.6 -
Wow, we're really pushing that score up.
And everyone, I've got some good news. Check THIS out! Does this mean we're getting a free licence to windows 7? (I didn't read it all) -
No
unless you have bought a GT725 after June 26th.. in which case you may already have an upgrade form (or need to get one - it doesn't say how though)

Hey Rob,
How much overclocks a T9600 pressing the Turbo button?
Thanks in advance -
The P8600 and P9500 both overclock either 16% (stock default), 20%, or 24%, depending on the BIOS settings.
-
you you ?? BUy the games on your 360 OMG... i mod 360s and i also have my 360 2 yrs and he never play original game

thanks for the quick response lambo. i have a couple of questions that id like answered though before i go through with uninstalling my driver. since im only having problems with the display driver, would it be fine to just update the display driver alone? also on step 2 of your guide im unable to find the ati folder in C:\ATI\. however i am able to find an ati folder at C:\Programs Files\ATI, but the only folder inside is CIM. when i look deeper into the folder i am unable to find the folders/files specified in your guide. all i see inside CIM are the folders Bin, Config, Images, and Reports. i apologize in advance if i missed something simple and have wasted your time. thanks again

I have just recieved my Antec Notebook Cooler 200
It has a 'Big Boy' fan (200mm - BIG)
Now i feel a little safer overclocking my hd4850 all the way
Gona run some games soon to see how much the temp drops
oh and the link is here if anyone is interested

Also, i found a mobile QX9300 for $633 (which is about £385 for me)
If I had the money right now i think i would be tempted

you didnt anwered me about windows 7..how that upgrade work?? we upgrade w/o loosing any datas?
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Wow, for that much, I would expect an OEM, not ES. I paid only $450 for my ES qx9300. -

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... the UK sucks for performance laptop parts
-
Resolution isn't everything though! I am happy with the resolution of my GT725 and for a laptop screen its decent, but in the end it is a TN panel and image quality wise (in the wider scale of things) it is pretty much the bottom of the barrel - colour and contrast levels just don't cut it.
I'm quite into my home cinema and have a 50" Plasma calibrated to near perfect D6500k and use that with my 360 and PS3 and the image quality is outstanding; regardless of it being Full HD or not. Of course I could easly connect my GT725 to that and get a better quality picture with that bump in resolution, but then again your comparing something thats £1000+ to something thats £200/£300. -
i am not idiot to buy on dvd 70euros lol anw my oppinion
-
omg your the best!!! i agree with you 100% .you cant compair something that is £1000+ to something thats £200/£300
also i agree again with you about resolusion..iamge quality doenst deppent from resolusion!! omg from your saying i know how good gamer and study about these things you are!!!! i like u!! -
I got a call from the MSI techrep today and he verified the 4% turbo overclock. He apologized for the errorneous information MSI had originally put out about the "up to 15%" increase. He said they weren't even aware of the only 4% boost. Got the correct info from Taiwan overnight.
Here's a couple of reviews still citing the 15% boost:

As the other member said you can go 16%, 20%, 24% in the bios. If I remember correctly I do not think the T9600 is stable at 24% OC. If I am wrong about the 24% please correct me. -
Yup i believe rob is right, t9600 is a really nice processor from what i hear, especially when it comes to pushing it a bit.
-
I think the people that had problems OCing to 24% had not set their ram to 667, so it was trying to overclock it from 800 upwards - not 100% sure tho
-
Very true blazin, in alot of cases 800mhz ram and 24% CPU overclock bluescreens frequently.
-
gt729 its comming
((( ddr3 1066mhz i will be soo jealus while they will post here with a signutare like this ..
-
If you are that jealous, buy some ddr3 ram and put it in yourself (although you may void your warranty) and anyway, it probably isnt worth using ddr3 ram atm as you won't see any noticeable differences.. as the improvements over ddr2 ram are countered by the increased latency that ddr3 suffers from.
-
DDR3 ram will not work in a GT725. The GT725 is still a great machine..
-
i just bought it coz is very beautifull.i want to keep it clean and i cant
coz of the type of metal maybe.. how do you clean and w/o scratch it ? i try famozo but doesnt make it like glass. i bought some cleanning clothes w/o alcohol but doesnt work..
-
Damn my bad.. suppose you could always try some ddr2 1066, although it probably isnt worth it
-
the brushed alluminium does leave quite a few fingerprints.. but i find that just a normal duster removes any hand marks.. as for the screen, i use the lcd sceen wipe that came with mine
-
nothing came with mine. but anw i wish to working fine minimum 3-4 years and i dont care about finger prints
-
Just got 9992 with 36mark06, although in the cpu test, i was only getting 1 or 2 fps? has anyone else with the quad model tried this?
-
Yeah thats the same with all CPU, they are sooo slow for that test, but it does seem accurate.
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
That's absolutey fine. The reason being that everything you're seeing on the screen is being calculated, and rendered by the CPU, rather than offloading to a graphics processor, be it a weak onboard one, or a powerful dedicated unit as well as the normal calculations, modelling etc etc etc. GPUs have immense but focused power as that test shows!
-
Scores in sig. The 4850 doesn't mind at all running max overclock @ 550/900. Believe it would go a lot higher if ATI Overdrive would allow it. I checked out the Q9000 specifications and was really surprised to see the thermal specification was 100c. That's impressive!
-
well i had my hd4850 set to 500/850 when i got 9992, so i just tried upping it to 550/900, but i keep getting an error:
idirect3dvertexbuffer9::lock failed: n/a (unknown)
I have looked on other forums and most people experience this because they have overclocked the card too high, which sucks. Have any of you guys encountered this error.. or do you know any fixes for it? I really want to break the 10K mark!
BTW, JaxMacFL, how did you get 10,699? I have got 9.6 drivers, but i guess i need to try and get 3dmark06 to work with the fully OCed 4850.
Blazin -
Well, I had the turbo on and 4850 set at 550/900. Window power setting to performance. In CCC, AA - user app, AAA - disabled, AF - user app, A.I. - advance, Mipmap - performance, Vsync - off.
I believe that error is saying backoff the overclock. If you still get the error, try backing the memory down to 890. Overdrive Auto tune had my 4850 maxed out at 550/900 then backed it down 10 on both to 540/890. I bumped them both back up to 550/900 and never saw the first artifact while running 3dmk06 or vantage. Temp maxed out at 79c during one of the runs, can't remember which, but still well within specs. -
Hehe jax, Overdrive does allow it
with a tweak
My machine wont run 3dmark06 fully with 550/900.
You can bios flash up to like 570/1125 happily if your card performs good.
I get the same error also blaze. -
well i just changed Mipmap Detail Level to Performance (it was on Quality) and dropped the clock speeds down to 540/890.. and i got 10303!
I'm surprised how much of a difference changing the clock speeds up 40mhz made! -
NICE!
Welcome to the 10K+ club.
I think I'll steer clear of the video card bios flashes. I'm not all warm and fuzzy with those procedures. -
Do I get a T-Shirt?
-
and a bumper sticker. :>)
-
I hit 11k
I think :/ i wouldnt mind hitting 14k but i dont have £400 to spare for a qx
-
Has anyone found a solution for the Task Scheduler has stopped working error message after installing the latest video drivers from MSI? I installed them and after rebooting was welcomed with the error message. I restored to a previous point in Windows and the error disappeared. Later I decided to install the newest drivers again, only to have the same error message return. Any ideas?

P.S. I attached a capture of the message in question.Attached Files:

shoot, just updated the mainboard bios up to 1722_10u and got my first blue screen.
Fingers crossed it's nothing, although could b 9.6 cat and bios update conflicting? -
I ran into that also. Here is a work-a-round:
Install drivers only according to these instructions.
Then do this.
Afterwards your CCC software information should read the same as the image in the last link. -
with hair driyer these stikers will easyly remove?
-
Sorry for the late reply on this one Syvyl, but I haven't had access to the internet all weekend. In answer to your question, you can install the display driver only, if you cancel the Catalyst installation after you unpack. Just uninstall the driver in device manager, and then install the new one. That directory you are talking about (C:\Program Files\ATI), is just the default install directory for the Catalyst Install Manager. Just unpack the ATI drivers, (take note of the directory) then cancel the Catalyst install.
-
Also, I've been looking into modifying my own .inf files. It's actually easier than I though! Does anyone know though if theres any difference between the Software settings with ati2mag_m9x, which is what msi use, and ati2mag_r7x, which ati use for their desktop drivers?
And new 9.7 drivers should be out any day now... Since I'm running 64bit now, does anyone wanna try out the 32bit drivers? -
I would suggest just peeling them off, then using metho to remove any glue.
-
Or a microfibre cloth and some warm water over and over again till nothing remains hehe.
