hey guys, I've had this laptop(074) for about a month and I love it, but for some reason it hates Company of Heroes. It runs about a constants 45-60 fps on the highest settings and when I'm in a basic match it crashes to the desktop 10-30m in the game. I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the ATI card/drivers? Because my friend's laptop has a Nvidia 260m and runs this game with no trouble at all.
I've tried using the 9.6 drivers and the DNA 9.4 drivers but no luck. I even tried deleting all the ATI folders and using the stock drivers that came with the CD.
I'm not overclocking the card or using turbo and my temps are good with my laptop cooler. Every other game runs flawlessly except Company of heroes, which is a shame since that's what I mostly play =/. Is anyone else having problems with the game?
Please someone help me.

Well, I lost my internet for about 6 days straight after I got my new lappy. I had a play around and got CCC working with 9.6 and I got 10567 3DMarks. Much happier than the last score I got ^.^
I hit a max of 75c for my graphics card. So its not doing too shabby. When I clocked it to 550/900 -
omg thank you very much.also you have a grade shop!!!

Joining the thread. Proud owner of MSI GT725-075US! Had it for the past 2 months and no disappointments, no crashes, so software issues and no paint fading. Runs everything with native resolution (1920 x 1200) without the use of turbo. First laptop purchased and am completely satisfied
-
Welcome to the thread
glad to hear we have another satisified 725 owner xD -
Yes I am. I would've posted earlier with my ownership, but wanted to read through the thread to see everyone's experience with theirs. Got a few tips from it too. Great help. -
So you made it through all 330 pages okay lol? xD
-
Lol yea I made it through.....took a bit of time....multi-tasked through work hours and at home for effective completion and made it through.
Question though. How do I go about getting my signature inserted?
-
there is a button on your left USer CP> Edit Signature
done!! -
Thanks for the help.

-

they make items for aim to buy everytihng that produce!! i hate them.
..is there any chance to replace the mobile 4850 fomr gt725? -
Actually, the 4850 if i recall will be compatible with dx11. ATI offer alot of DX support.

The card will support DX11, it just isn't a full DX10 part.
DX11 is pretty much a tweaked, improved version of the original DX10 spec. DX10.1 was pretty much the original DX10 spec, before Nvidia persuaded Microsoft to neuter the standard; as they couldn't delivery a working DX10 part in time for Windows Vista's release.
Due to this, DX11 apart from a few feature/support upgrades is actually very similar on a baseline to DX10.1, and a lot of the features touted as being more heavily used under DX11, such as a hardware tesselation unit, are already part of the ATI 3 and 4 series DX10.1 cards; something which Nvidia cannot claim.
The only DX10.1 cards Nvidia have are some recently released low-end parts; none of the higher end parts based around the G92 or GT200 chip; GTX260M/280M/9800/8800 etc actually support, or have these features included.
With this in mind, and ATIs prior experience with some of the DX11 supported hardware features which Nvidia don't, it is likely that the 48 series cards will actually last longer, from a usable point of view, than the G92 Nvidia design; as the ATI card will be able to utilise additional parts of the core under DX11 designed games that they haven't until now, theoretically giving them a performance boost; much like, until the patch which removed it, DX10.1 ATI cards got a 10-20% performance boost in Assassins Creed due to being able to use advanced shader mechanisms which the game supported. As it was a 'The Way It's Meant To Be Played' title; Nvidia didn't like ATI cards being able to utilise parts of the DX10.1 feature set to get a performance boost whilst Nvidia cards couldn't, and had Ubisoft remove DX10.1 from the game in the first patch.
Hope that makes sense
And Lenarass, sorry, its not silly these aren't full DX11 parts; as the DX11 spec has only recently been fully put together, and requires extra support and some hardware mechanisms which weren't in the current DX10 spec. Things like this have been going on since the early days of 3D Hardware development; newer cards would support newer features which old cards couldn't do.
That's why its called DX11, not DX10.2, or DX9.3ca etc.
They are new versions with new required parts and features; without them there would be little development, and there would be no overriding standard driving us forward. -
I love it when someone posts about stuff i can clearly understand
I do see the 48 serie lasting a while, i just hope they can get the GDDR5 release of the 4870 with mxm compatability for my machine. -
anw whats the work of dx11.? its a program which work paraller with graphix card to produce hd image?? what isit ? what is the work of it? where we can download it? i saw on wiki that the release date was 22/07..so where it is?
-
updated my tutorial for the 9.7 works fine, will do some bench after
-
Rupper, your a legend
cheers man.
-
So what's the status on the 9.7 drivers, any help?
-
graphic and cpu score of vantage increased each of 80 point
will see if i have improvment in game too but they seems great!
-
it will be released on windows 7 first then vista may get some support. But knowing that vista is the redheaded Me's cousin i expect support for vista to die out REAL fast.
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
DX11 will be available as a software download for Vista, this has already been confirmed. Vista is also suprisingly popular nowadays amongst tech circles in the very least; and also in the general population who've dared to try it with a decent machine; at least since SP1, so it's very unlikely it will immediately die out.
@ Lenarass - DX11 isn't a programme, it's an API. Basically, games and other 3D programmes use it to access the advanced features of your graphics chip, and so they react in a specified way when a specific command is used, much in the same way OpenGL (1/2/2.1/3) is the prefered API for many professional CAD and 3D design programmes.
DX11 is due out with Windows7, and will be available as a windows software update for vista shortly afterewards, and both use the new WDDM driver model

As for 9.7 drivers it boosted my 3dMark06 score by about 50 points to over 9700. Anyone know what the highest score is for a stock GT725-087UK so far on here?
-
over 10k animal, i think.
-
Only time i get over 10k is with the old cpu oc . 10k? That's good work for a dual core at stock hey!! I'm jealous lol
-
you took 50more points that means ghx card work better that means more heat to the chip??
-
YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR TUT...when you saying Now click one "let me choose in a list
Click on disc provided, select the modified file:

ok i realise that 9.7 isnt good. i tested it with that : maximize your interent explorer and just open "my documents" then make that windows 4 times smaller than the other windows.move it fast and see that back on the interent explorer sometiing is going wrong

Twistaye, Blazin, animaleyes- thanks for that info you guys gave me a few pages back
I'm definitely gonna look to upgrade to Windows 7 when it hits as I have read many places that it gets much more out of hardware than Vista does...Cheers!
-
anyone tried tinkering with the northbridge settings yet?
I want to learn about them but dont know where to start, i think there is a northbridge memory controller inactive too but cant be too sure what it is (just 15-16meg) but i could be completely wrong considering i dont know anything about the northbridge at present. -
why use drivercleaner to upgrade the driver?
simply uninstall them in the device manager and keep the catalyst control center, il will works with the new driver! -
Hi, your method worked fine for me (always does) but he had a load of issues after installing. Thought driver cleaner was best way to get rid of it (minus CCC) in those scenarios.
Always wokred fo rme when i had screwed driver installs, but you prob know more than me!! -
go little back and see my printscreen..i cant uninstall from add remove programs...
-
what issues do you have animal?
i never use driver clean and for me everything is fine, i am now playing anno 1404 in very high: great! -
Hey, i'm fine thanks.. I used to use driver cleaner when i had problems with the DNA drivers. Now i am using the drivers as per your instructions no problems. It's lenarass that has the prob. THere is a pic a few pages back.
